Videos Released

And audio.

And 9-1-1 calls.

And radio transmissions.

And all very haphazardly - there's no universal index that we found, just categorized by date and CL/CR number.

This won't deter the media from assigning junior reporters to listen to it all. Or law firms from ordering interns to listen/view everything in the hopes of making it rain city money.

The FOP is unhappy:
  • “The Lodge addressed our displeasure at being given less than a 24-hour notice that something this important to our members was going to be done with such minimal notice and input. To say this meeting turned contentious would be an understatement,” Angelo wrote.

“We sternly addressed our concerns about our members’ privacy, the length of the IPRA investigations, potential of violations of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and the possibility of an Unfair Labor Practice. The Lodge had absolutely no input in this process. We were notified less than 24-hours of the press release . . . It is sad when, with all the talk about transparency and communication, they decide to operate in this manner.”
Without context and explanation, the data dump is just that - a dump. We're expecting a lot of "out-of-context" sound bites to be the norm over the next few weeks and days, stretching into years no doubt.

But this is what Rahm wants, and will no doubt add to his massive push to dismantle the Contract next year. The only counter rank-and-file police have is to deny Rahm/IPRA/ALCU/DOJ/CPD Brass future data to release by withdrawing from the community - respond, cut paper, leave, repeat.

Do Nothing. Don't give them any ammo. Fop should be demanding an injunction to stop the illegal evidence dump. Where is the officers due process? Why not release all video on all open investigations not involving the police? Why...because that would be irresponsible and would not preserve the integrity of the investigation. If we are obligated to withhold videos on civilian cases why not on officer involved cases... only until the conclusion of the investigation. As Trump said, police officers are the most mistreated group in society. Please stay in your car and ride this craziness out.

Don't volunteer for shit.
Roll to the next one.
Repeat as often as necessary.
Flip the keys to the oncoming watch.

For all of Rahm's media portrayed differences with Rauner lest not forget that they really are two birds of a feather. Both are very strong anti Union.
As SCC states this is Rahm making a very public attempt at gutting our contract.
Rahm despises us and hates unions so it's painfully obvious that he wants to destroy any basic protections our contract provides.
The fact that while attempting to gut our contract he can continue to pander to "the community" is simply a bonus in his fucked up perspective.

Desperate People do Desperate Things! At this point Rahm will do anything to appease the Media and Black Community. But the most damaging video and reason is still the video he withheld for over a year. That video is not going away and it will come back in campaign ads; Rahm is done, just stick in the fork. However, IPRA, is another matter. This "Dump" was a clear effort to show that IPRA is trying, and wants to survive. For any working cop, who is not in a Unit or anointed assignment, this is without a doubt the Last Straw! If there was any doubt in your mind that you are on your own, and Nobody has your back, this was it. How anyone can do anything more than respond to your calls and watch out for each other, at this point is beyond comprehension, even if you are a hair gel Tac guy. This was the straw that broke the camel's back. Sorry guys and gals for what the progressives and the city administration is putting you through. I even feel sorry for McCarthy who was the scapegoat of the mayor in this mess. It seemed McCarthy was a genuine police officer who liked cops and was, overall, a good leader. I don't know what you have now, but the fact Johnson took a 5 year old case and reopened it and stripped the officers involved tells me that he will not back you up, whatsoever, it tells me that he wants to go down in history as the leader that reformed the department. Be safe this Summer, back each other up, and frankly, don't chase anyone and don't shoot at anyone unless they are shooting at you. Let them go. Everything will be turned against you for headlines or for lawsuits. In these times, you cannot win. Oh wait, you can win, in the end but it will cost you in time and money and stress and in anxiety and in damage to your good name and your career.

You will be jammed up and thrown under a bus faster than you can blink. Anyone who believes that the department has your back if you get jammed up for doing the right thing has to be mad and insane.

OK Deano - so you have had a "contentious" meeting. Now what are you going to do about it? How about at least going to WTTW and explaining our side since Ch. 11 invited you back? Are our cadre of attorneys on call going to litigate this issue?

Deano, when SCC states that we should be fetal - they don't mean you! If your response to every punch that the city throws is to merely make a limp protest - then how are we going to trust you during contract negotiations? Maybe NYC's Patrolmens Benevolent Assn. can give you a crash course on how to stand up to a mayor like they did to De Blasio. Maybe you should poll (not like the last mayor"s election poll) the working rank & file on which issues mean the most to them. Retirees such as myself have 2 issues - pension solvency & health care. But i can bet that the working gals & guys have a few more concerns that they want addressed & protected during the negotiations.
This next year will be the greatest challenge FOP faces - don't let us down.

(could lead to disciplinary action if you are an on duty copper) and let's not forget about the repercussions we have to fear for any political opinion we may choose to let slip while we are working in this mess the Mayor has foisted on the city.

Any little snip-it could be clipped out by some hungry and ethically challenged law firm looking to make some quick cash from the taxpaying citizens in this city.

Exactly. Another piece of advice is for anyone working side jobs for extra $. These business will not cover your ass if and when you take police action like this officer. They pay you to observe. Anytime police action is needed all you should do is dial 911 like one of their other employees. Never take police action unless protecting life. That's it. They don't pay us our wages ($40 and up /hr) so they get a deal for having an armed officer on premises for the cheap. Remember to only do the BARE MINIMUM.

See how Sun Times reporter.Andy Grimm categorized all of these cases as "Misconduct" cases. This is the shit that happens. The officer in the picture about to be tackle by deranged lunatic has no choice but to defend his own life with his duty weapon. Whats Andy Grimm's solution ? Should the officer get tackled, risk getting his head cracked open, pummled.and his gun taken by the lunatic so the lunatic can kill the officer ? Nothing in the law states that we have to take the first bullet or first punch and god willing we survive then take appropriate action. Is this what it has come to ?

Now this officer defends his life, his face and name now in the media under the headline of Police Misconduct Cases !
Fuck this asshole city administration. They just told the CPD, " FUCK YOU" !

Is Rahm being considered for Hillary's VP running mate. It makes sense. He would bring a lot of votes to the ticket, and be a shoo-in for president in four years.

6/04/2016 10:26:00 AM

He'd be a shoo-in for President whenEVER she became incapacitated, which is one reason why he won't be picked. Besides, he's SO unpopular, he would cost her votes, which she can't afford.

The off duty copper featured in the Portillo's was stripped only hours after the video started showing up on the news websites. If IPRA has had the video since 2014, why did they wait?.

Who gives a fuck? Fire the idiot and good riddance.

Your a fucking tool. I'm sure your that hard ass cop who wears his hat backwards and tight shirt. Go fuck yourself. I hope your the next guy caught on tape deuschebag. It's called DUE PROCESS. Go read that things called bill of rights. We are entitled to them as well as the average joe. So, until you KNOW what it is we do for a living I suggest you stfu.

OK Deano - so you have had a "contentious" meeting. Now what are you going to do about it? How about at least going to WTTW and explaining our side since Ch. 11 invited you back? Are our cadre of attorneys on call going to litigate this issue?

Goto court and file and ask for an injunction to stop this obvious DUE PROCESS VIOLATION. If not, every cop included in these videos should file an ARDC complaint on Fariley. This is a major mess up. File it now and get back at the city and the mayor. Total bullshit. Time to fight back.

Just do the bare minimum. Respond, report, leave. Stay fetal. protect yourself and your family.
Your an idiot to do any proactive police work now. Dont be the headline in the paper or on news channels.

All I can add is STAY LEGAL.

I DID NOT see Dean file a Temporary Restraining Order with all these videos released. Why because he would rather rant how he objected in a FOP email blast then get his ass infront of a camera and use our union dues to fight for the men and women in blue in the media. Funny how he stated he met with the City when he was at Mike Shields trial with Ray. Makes you think why he is so quiet on this. These are Officers futures on the chopping block whereby their due process with ongoing investigations are being compromised. A TRO could of possibley prohibited this from happening.Time to get this guy out of office.

As a citizen and a believer is people being held accountable for their actions I can only say, please stay fetal because this is political BS. Are their bad cops, sure there are. They have their 3% just like every other profession, well every profession except politician. Politicians are more like 99% criminals. The good citizens of Chicago support the men and woman of CPD. We understand the position you are in and we realize it will affect us also. But know that unlike politicians and the residents of certain high crime communities, we actually support you. We want each and everyone of you to go home each night and sleep without worry.

Stay safe and stay fetal. Do it for your family and do it for yourself!

"My class X or 1 delivery dope case doesn't change a damn thing! We shut the spot down for half a day maybe. Big deal, again it doesn't matter. The savage animal instinct will continue in the west and south sides. But guess what, I love what I do. I do it legit. I'll sit in a building or hide in a bush to watch the dope spot. I'm simply saying you can still do this job and enjoy it, safely. Don't make a case of its not there. If you're denied Felony charges for a pistol, laugh it up and continue on. The county sentencing is a joke anyway. Be happy with what you do and control only what you can control. God bless the Blue. Protect each other and your families"

Brother, you need to go to the "Church Of What's Happening Now." You can hide in buildings or bushes for the next 30 years. BUT, when you put your hands on somebody who does not want to go to jail and his buds are recording you from three angles and you're fighting for your life, you will wish you listen to us.

Anything you do is excessive, not by our standards, but by the standards of the civilian nit-wits, half-wits, and dummies reviewing you actions. Your reviewers will have prestigious titles: lawyer, artist, dancer, cab driver, community organizer, janitor, social worker, psychologist, barber, school teacher, beat fascinator, etc. None will be an on duty or retired Chicago cop. None of the above understands what you do. Stay legal.

The off duty copper from Portillos gets the shaft. IAD stated he was stripped because the superintendent didn't like the media hype. Too fucking bad Eddie. If you would have watched more than the cell phone video, you would have seen the off duty cop get punched. Of course it's easier for you to strip somebody then watch a 5 minute video. What a lazy coward you are. Glad to see you have our backs.

6/04/2016 02:35:00 PM
You must have seen something that no one has seen. The PO claimed the arrestee threw a chair at him. That was not in video. I have worked many security jobs and i can tell you the position of the department is you are an agent of the company, not necessarily a police officer. Ask the person to leave and then call the police and wait for them to arrive. Sign complaints and have the on-duty folks make the arrest. This guy has a problem

The "victim" of that off duty copper supposedly threw a cup of hot cheese at the off duty copper.
That could be considered Agg Batt and the off duties use of force could be justified.
Call it railroading, witch hunt etc. but the deck is stacked against us.

As soon as the bad guys realize that they can come to Chicago and get away with stuff the city becomes a big shit hole. The police need to realize that our own home turf have been infiltrated with crap. Sit back and just observe what is driving down your streets and living in these apartments and rental sites. There are no more good areas. All you guys up in 16 have crap. Out in Mt. GREENWOOD too.

I agree. We must not judge people on these videos because WE HAVE NOT SEEN everything involved nor were any of us there as a witness.

Due process is a liberty every citizen enjoys. Just because we are the police doesn't mean we aren't afforded the same rights as others.

Stay safe.

He copper was going he job that he was being paid to do and when he was met with resistance he took action. You must have not watched the video because if you did you would see that when the officer called 911 and put the phone to his ear he was attacked. If he had done anything wrong he would of been dealing with it long before the video made the news. You have no idea what you are talking about.

Any reasonable force you use to arrest someone and they beef, plus video, will be released by IPRA per the 60 day time frame. With it goes your face and your name. All over media for the world to see. No matter how justified they will pick you apart and spin it to make you the racist brutilizing police.

Most of us do love the job and 99% do do it legit, but times have changed. Any proactive police work, now more than it has ever been, is a huge risk to yourself and your family.
Isn't your freedom and your families financial stability worth more than some dope spot on the westside ? These are areas the politicians or even the community itself haven't even given a shit about for decades.

Wow...this Department continues to change only in one direction, holding officers even more accountable. When the problem is State Government de-criminalizing crimes and no true sentencing. The County President along with the Sheriff emptying out the County Jail by placing yhem on home confinement and then they can't even track more then half of them. They violated probation and they get double probation. And the Biggest Problem the City Major, the Biggest Gangster in town along with about 3/4 of the Alderman and bought Media.Chicago is heading down a horrible Path.
