Understaffing Again
- A standoff and hostage situation at a maximum security wing of the Cook County Jail was resolved Thursday evening, according to the Cook County sheriff's office.
Two inmates had sabotaged security cameras and went into a standoff with officials after they took another inmate hostage late Thursday afternoon. The situation was resolved by a little before 8 p.m., according to the office, which did not immediately elaborate.
The two inmates took control of the area, which houses 16 other inmates in Division 10 of the jail, after they covered the floor with soapy water and obscured cameras in the area before ripping them out, according to a release from the sheriff's office.
But hey, this guy wants to be mayor, and he's buying the silence of media figures by hiring their relatives.

You can have all the cameras you want but there still needs to be proper staffing to respond to said video images.m since the hostage was another "resident" of the CCDOC, lawyers will scramble to represent inmate. Then the whole court oversight routine will reappear at the jail. So the few $$$ that Dart saved via understaffing will multiply in a settlement. Never mind about officer safety without proper backup and cameras which are used to support excessive force complaints initiated by Dart's hacks. These unqualified stooges mismanage one of the largest county jails in the country. All because we have a politician - not a lawman - in charge.

I spoke with a correctional officer who told me a story I sadly believed. Some prisoners were masturbating in front of female officers. To get them to stop they worked a deal and had PIZZA delivered to these muts. After a while the prisoners wanted more pizza but were told that was a one time deal.
Guess what the prisoners started doing again when female staff is around?
Buy the way he told me it's a matter of time before there is a prisoner insurrection.
As soon as the incident was resolved, dart threw them a pizza party.
While Nero, I mean Rahm plays the fiddle....
Dart is going to get someone killed unless he resigns.
The better end to that story would have included "funeral plans for the inmates responsible are pending"
Maybe they were able to resolve the standoff by offering a pizza party for the inmate.
I feel bad for county guys

Markham courthouse Sheriff lockup is a ticking time bomb. The inmates could take it over at anytime. They outnumber the deputies 50/1 at times. Dart is going to get someone killed you are absolutely right.
Dart has 147 more 6 figure exempt political positions than former Sheriff Sheahan and that's a fact. Sheahan was known for having a top heavy department but Dart took it to an entirely new level. Dart cares nothing of putting his front line staff in danger.
The inmates now masterbate in the court lockups infront of female staff. They say they don't want to lose pizza day at the jail. If you think I'm kidding you obviously don't work for this department. Hey SCC check into a lawsuit recently filed against Dart by female correctional officers. They allege many have been sexually assulted and Dart refuses to charge the inmates.
Some questions:
* Why are cameras mounted where inmates can get to them?
* Why are cameras mounted so they can be ripped out? Sounds like a shit install job.
* Why do they get access to enough water and soap to pour on the floor?
* WHO CARES if one inmate takes another hostage? Let them kill each other. Refuse to negotiate with inmates or terrorists. Tell them to go ahead and kill the jagoff...make sure the rest get to see the tapes.
* Why is Dart still Sheriff?
Does anyone else think this sounds just like that scene in Blazing Saddles where the black sheriff took himself hostage?
Dart can do no worse than the clown that currently fills the Mayor of Chicago seat now.
