Numbers Keep Rising

Four dead, seventeen wounded Friday into Saturday.

Two dead, twenty-four wounded Saturday into Sunday - including a couple in 012:

• Bystanders at the birthday party saw the panic before they heard the gunshots.
  
  “I saw running, screaming, hollering,” said a woman who had walked away from the crowd just moments before the chaos.
  
  She heard someone scream: “They’re going to shoot.”
  
  Then she heard three separate volleys of gunfire.

And guess how many witnesses came forward?

• ....said she didn’t know anything about who fired shots at the birthday party, but she was sure someone did.“Somebody’s seen something,” she said.
  
  She was just as sure that nobody would say anything.
  
  “With everything that’s going on in the community, with the police, the violence in general, they don’t trust anyone,” she said.

The descriptions from the scene speak volumes. Hundreds of people clogging up the streets for hours, coppers outnumbered ten-to-one, the usual piles of garbage left behind when a ghetto party erupts in gunfire.
