Timely

  • Students enrolled in driver's education courses will be required to learn how to respond if they're pulled over by police under a measure Gov. Bruce Rauner signed into law Friday.

The change is aimed at preventing teens from panicking or doing anything that may be interpreted as a red flag by police, which could lead to a standard traffic stop escalating into a more serious situation.
If we could just bring this program to the "community" over the past.....oh, let's just say 50 years, we might see a significant dent in the crime numbers.

I think it is a good idea, BUT it should be much broader.

"Stop and Drop" should be the Program.

When a cop says, "stop," Stop! Do not move.

When a cop says, "Drop the gun", DROP the gun!

It that THAT hard to learn?????

Yeah like the people that actually have licenses don't know how to act. How about make the class mandatory with probation or a jail sentence.

They could even use the Chris Rock YouTube video "How Not to Get Your A** Kicked by the Police". I use it in the concealed carry classes I teach.

While we're at it, we should also teach them not to murder people, deal drugs or steal things. Because I think they've forgotten.

The Pull to the Right for Sirens and Lights program has been around for some time, how's that working out?
Pull to the Right was probably in the Rules of the Road since 1960, in many languages too.

But by the time an urban yewt is legally ready to be licensed to drive, their brain is fried from excessive weed, paint fumes, cognac and Pokemon, all under the nose of an equally impaired single parent.
Telling them how to drive or react to lawful authority was lost at age 5.

So what will be the penalty if someone (Jaguar O'Neal) fails to comply and eventually gets caught?
Big $100 fine? Goof Rauner enacting goofy unenforceable laws getting his name in the news.
There has to be something more pressing in Illinois government, like welfare fraud, excessive waste or pensions.

Most people know how to act.
What's indoctrinated in CPS about laws and police is entirely different.

How about this, more red light and speeding camera's that are precise and accurate so there are no traffic stops unless there is a non drive able accident. Revenue without repercussions of face to face interaction with obstinate ignoramuses. Result more revenue and fewer complaints against us, let the Dept of Revenue be the bitch.

Exactly. You get arrested, you see the training video. Over and over and over.
It should also be mandatory in every school, every year, starting with fifth grade.

As a nine year old girl, Dad taught me to do what the police said, don't talk back to them and be polite. I was taught to find a cop if I was in trouble (not run from them because they would 'lock you up').

As Dad said, if there's a problem, HE would deal with the police officer, but I was to behave properly, as my parents taught me to.

BULL SCHLITZ!!! Not a Cop, but Red Light Cameras, Speed Cameras, or Officer Friendly pulling me over, the police are getting the blame for my ticket. I don't care who the ticket is from, an officer has to swear it is a violation! So the police gave me the f$@&ing ticket.

"My first traffic stop went something like this...."mutha fuckah why is yo bitch ass fuckin with me".

So, how did it end?

-and-

My first stop, I'll never forget. With my FTO at about 0230, she made a right turn at a No Right Turn intersection...
Brief conversation, she was perfectly polite and back to the car I went, D/L in hand.
FTO insists I write her...
I did, she prepaid the ticket.

Hopefully you tagged the driver on your first stop while I would have let my driver go with just a warning.

CPS should offer a class in how to cross the street using the traffic signals. Can Rauner sign that into law too?
