CCL Shoots Burglar
- A 61-year-old man shot at two intruders, 11 and 16, injuring the older boy during a burglary Sunday morning on the South Side, police said.
The 16-year-old was hit in the lower back and right hand and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition has stabilized. The 11-year-old suffered a laceration to the back of his head, possibly while fleeing, and was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, police said.
Charges are pending for both boys.
The man, who had a valid concealed carry license, was not injured during the incident, which happened about 8:25 a.m. in the 6600 block of South Rhodes Avenue, in the city’s West Woodlawn neighborhood, police said.
If those kids had been in church and not out burglarizing....ah, never mind.

Well done sir. Glad nobody was killed and hopefully it sends a message to those kids and others over there that's committing crime like this is not worth it.
I am sure the home owner had to surrender his firearm "pending investigation". Because he is a mere citizen, not in any way "connected", will he ever get it back?

Good job to the conceal carrier but does anyone else think that had he been an off-duty cop using his weapon under the same circumstances that things would be different? Higher standards? Or second class citizens? I'm thinking the latter.

They like having their armed guards provided by tax-payers, as in the case of Rahm and every other politician, especially Dummycrats. So we all cheer these civilians who successfully defended themselves; but the likes of Loevy and Loevy, and other sharks are swimming around and will not hesitate to sue the civilian shooter. I carry under IROCC, and every year I pay a specific insurance policy to cover me if I have to shoot someone.I hear people talking about their homeowners "Umbrella", but I would have to see it specifically saying it would cover you for a shooting. Remember, All Prosecutions are discretionary, so even though you may have been justified, if you are prosecuted, based on a Political Prosecution; then what? I doubt that your policy will cover you committing a "crime", and it may be handled as that initially. Remember, Mr. Zimmerman; eventually he was found Not Guilty, after over a million dollars in attorney's fees. CARRYING A FIREARM WITHOUT SPECIFIC INSURANCE TO COVER YOUR ACTIONS WITH THAT FIREARM; IS LIKE DRIVING AN AUTOMOBILE WITHOUT INSURANCE. Lucky for the homeowner he missed the 11 year old. I don't blame him for shooting. I wouldn't doubt the kid is 6 ft tall and shaves but the media would have crucified the homeowner if the "po' lil' chile" was killed.

The boys were just trying to get a little work in before goin' to Sunday preaching at St. Sabina's with Father Mike which starts at 11:15am to accommodate those hard working individuals that were working third shift or mids this weekend. I'm sure there were a lot of amens for those two once the good reverend heard of their unfortunate incident.

For all of you posters who are praising this conceal carry shooter, ask yourself, is this a legit shooting or not? Me thinks based on the given facts alone, no it was not a legit shooting. A business owner on East 87th Street once killed an armed robber who was suspected in over 10 armed robberies...... for weeks the business owner received threatening mail, phone calls, and vandalism to his store from the gang members and made case reports for same. Since those were all considered misdemeanor offenses and the overworked detectives area couldn't follow up to make a prosecution due to all the other violent crimes in the area, the business owner ended up having to close up his shop.
Whose life really mattered in this case??

The county where I reside statistics show that 20% of adults over age 21 have a CCW license. Unfortunately we have a very low crime rate and not counting police involved shootings there has not been a civilian shooting in over 10 years--it was justified. An armed society is a polite society.
Disturbances were called out on that same block for hours after the time of occurance. Family of the little thieves were assaulting homeowner. He may need more guns.

I'm an IL CCW permit holder. I'm curious about the back-shot. If I believe I or my loved ones are under imminent threat of great bodily harm or death, I'm clear to take the back-shot if that's what is presented. If, however, I should come upon a burglar in my house, and he is running from me, I'm not clear to take the shot. Makes me think CCW holder will eventually be charged.Any clarification on this matter is welcomed, and I thank all coppers who put it on the line everyday.
I'm a USCCA member and avail myself of their excellent insurance program. I believe those who carry have a responsibilty to insure themselves, cause shooting someone can be VERY expensive, even when righteous.
A CCL is not required if he was on his own property.

Do you guys know how screwed up the courts really are at juvie and why. Prickwinkie,Rahm and Jg. Evans decide it's racist and not politically correct to put minors in jail. They are referring to the Juvenile Temp Detention Center as jail. It isn't jail anymore. Street thugs refer to it as the daycare. When Earl Dunlap was allowed to become the transitional administrator under the Fed courts supervision he destroyed any resemblence to a place to house criminals. The staff (all civilian by the way, the Sheriff's never worked there and never will) were told by Dunlap that if they were victimized by any of the little young us that it was just part of the job. If they dint like it maybe they shouldn't be working there. If staff fought back to defend themselves they were fired, NO SHIT.They were dissuaded from signing any complaint. Some of you guys remember what a pain it was to even see an offender to process him/her if you actually did get a call to go there. Remember the debate about who should handle the arrests. CPD said the Sheriff's should do it because we were already there.
We didn't care if we did it or not, we WERE already there. That turned into a smokescreen so that no one would do it. We did a few and stopped getting called. Seemed there were no more victims after that, sure there weren't. And we never saw the victims leaving in cfd ambulances, nope we never had to do paper on ambulance runs.
The JTDC management won't allow us to interview a kid we are charging. Now we keep them in our lockups til the dicks have done their thing.
Some of the fired civilians that were fired for defending themselves took it to the Federal court and won their jobs back.
I have a whole lot more to explain, does anyone want me to continue or should I get off of your blog. I'll check back later to see if you want what will be probably 2 pages of text. There is reams to tell, it just seems like nobody really wants to know why the JTDC is truly a revolving door.
