Our kids will stay as they are, but we may not attend service where they are schooled, and haven't. And it has been questioned. "We haven't seen you on Sunday in a while". Every Sunday, as a Catholic, I give a donation envelope at my church. Every Sunday I fill out a piece of paper that says "Father Pfleger must go", and I drop it in the collection basket. No money, no donation, nada. Just that. At least it makes me feel good. Imagine if every Catholic cop in Chicago did the same.
I believe the purpose of not volunteering for VRI is to highlight the fact that we are short hundreds, if not thousands of Police Officers. Therefore, this action is being taken to not only help the shortages in the Police Department which would in effect help the entire city. I once saw a TV presentation of an effort made to "Revisit Newark." A group of senior citizens -- former residents -- organized themselves a tour bus and went back there to "roll through the old neighborhood."
Trash blowing around. Bottles. Cans. Rotting sofas in vacant lots. Sidewalks glittering with broken glass. A sign painted on a wall still proclaims "A & B Metal Forming Co." but there are trees growing through the roof. Half-burnt, abandoned houses covered with spray-paint hieroglyphics, the shreds of lace curtains flapping from the smashed windows. The stripped carcasses of automobiles. Any grass trampled down to bare packed dirt by myriad invisible feet -- giving the lie to the illusion of depopulation. A passing glimpse of multiple human shapes down an alley, doing something that did not look right.

Why didn't Mr. Angelo reply to the media with a statement that tells the goof that he and his flock need to make up their minds. Why not let the media do what they do best....stir up controversy?

To the SCABS working this weekend, realize unless your on OT from the CPD and you get hurt you are NOT entitled to a duty disability if you get hurt. You are only entitled to an ordinary 50% disability on which you have to pay taxes. No colas, no carrying a firearm, and no police star. Think about that when you are working at McCormick pl., Navy Pier, Michigan Ave. etc...

Former Gov. Quinn gave this priest one million in funds before he left office. I am not sure of other state grants, but I would be willing to bet that there have been plenty. The rules posted on the Archdiocese web site say that pastors get six years, then a review, then possibly another six years, then reassignment except in "extraordinary circumstances."
So what's the "extraordinary" here?

An elected official, driving a vehicle leased with our tax dollars, with congressman license plates, shouldn't have the right to refuse to release that video, especially when he's making absurd claims about being racially profiled and mistreated. We, as public servants, have no rights when it comes to what videos are released. How does this differ? The piece of shit knows that he fucked up, and doesn't want anyone to see his little "don't you know who I am" rant. I guess he didn't realize there was video when he filed his bullshit complaint. Sign that affidavit, Bobby. Or did you file a false complaint about these officers?

Anyone remember Father Hayes,back in the 60's saying about the Second Collection during Mass.."you can just put buttons in the basket,". He was the driving force of a new Parish, St. Thomas More, and thought the parishioners donations should stay in the Parish to help it grow and give aid to its own parishioners. He grew Tommy More from the late 40s thru the 60s and was a true man of God but was also a "real man". Too bad Mikey Pflaeger who grew up in that parish didn't learn anything from him. So sad about the ransacking of the priests residence the past few days .... Blocks away from Officers Dennis's home.
so far only one person shot since about 11am this morning. very very quiet throughout the entire city today. i think this labor day weekend will be a fizzle.

Yes, this is interesting, You should say more and I hope the media picks up on this: but, I doubt it. The media covers for those asshats that they want to protect. But, maybe the bishop will pick up on this and ask for a public accounting. This is something people can hang their hat on to get this person out of town.

Cardinal George suspended phleger twice and tried to remove him from his parish. Phleger told George that he would leave the catholic faith if moved. Cardinal George responded "if that is truly how you feel you have already left". The cardinal was right phleger is not a Catholic and he is not a priest. Shame on the Chicago diocese for letting this fraud continue to play at being a priest.
I feel sorry for phleger ....really I do. Can you imagine someone who detests the skin God gave him and every morning he looks in the mirror and sees a lily white face looking back at him. He is reminded every day that he is a product of everything he despises. No wonder he always seems so angry.

Speaking of Separation of Church and State.. Father Faker uses his pulpit mostly to discuss politics and for profit. Therefore, his church should no longer be considered non-for profit or taxes exempted. He should be required to pay up. Politics shouldn't be the main focus of a parish.

As a Catholic and with family members on the police force, I was happy to hear encouragement for the police would spend more time with their families rather than risking their lives and jobs. Father Phlager cannot have it both ways - he is constantly criticizing the police and then yelling when they don't. want to be working in an area where people have no respect for the police or anyone. He owes Mr. Angelo an apology for acting so terribly and I would like to hear it in the media. Shame on you Fr. Phlager. I don't expect priests or anyone to be perfect but truthfully, if this is the example you are setting for the people you claim to care about so much it is a bad one.
