Time to Ban Intersections

  • Two wounded women on a blood-stained section of sidewalk flagged down a police cruiser near 69th Street and Ashland Avenue. They were two of four people shot there Tuesday night.

Had it been another intersection, perhaps the officers would've been surprised.

"I can tell you several people have been shot on this block in the past couple of months," an officer said. "People always hang out here."
This particular intersection has had nine people shot there this summer. Since nothing else seems to work, maybe making it into some sort of cul-de-sac or dead end or digging a 40-foot hole that folks (and people) can fall into might be a step to eliminate crime.

Fly on Wall. Personnel from IPRA are being told that there Will be a big announcement today, Friday September 2nd. The Chief Administrator, Sharon Farley, will make the announcement at a Unit meeting. Speculation is that they will learn their faith today on whether or not they will keep their job in the new COPA.

Maybe some speed and red light cameras, a bike lane, a traffic circle and a few speed humps may be necessary!!

How about having ComEd hang a couple of 1,000 watt floodlights on each of the four corners? I doubt if it will deter the mob and the petty crimes, but maybe they'll actually hit what they were aiming at in the next drive by.

If there ever was a place that needed a "No Guns Allowed" sign, this is it.

One would think the IT guys with algorithms could figure out how to catch the bad guys doing the shooting at that location based on the number shot. I'm asking too much.

If there's alot of shootings there they better not have a fixed post there. Obviously police are the problem nationally so why would we put police there. They don't us there so let the community police it

It is not too many guns, a catch and release court system, low number of cops or gangs that are causing all these shootings and murders in Chicago. It is very simple and was predicted by president Obama and many others. We are witnessing the affect of run away, advanced global warming and climate change on society. Until we can halt and reverse global warming and climate change, the number of shootings and killings will only increase. Unchecked global warming will tear man's society and culture into shreds.

A wee-bit off topic, but what's with CH-7 news lately ? I've heard them use the term The victim was shot in "BROAD DAYLIGHT" at least three times in the last week or so. I guess people/folks are only supposed to get shot in "TOTAL DARKNESS", I know what you readers will say....o.k....I will stop watching......stay safe in both "BROAD DAYLIGHT and "TOTAL DARKNESS".

'Roust'? No rousting allowed. Civil liberties being violated, and all that.
Fill out an ISR for every person you 'rousted'? Nope. Rousting is over.

Fly on the Wall: Follow-Up to the above post. Farley told the IPRA Investigators that they are all going to be laid-off. She told the staff that there is no set lay-off date. She related that all current staff members can reapply for the 'NEW POSITIONS" in COPA but past employment at IPRA will not be considered. In addition: any supervisors who were not brought in by Farley are also gone. the IPRA Investigators are to meet with their Union (ASME) sometime early next week. When questioned if any Investigators can transfer to another City Agency, Farley stated she has no idea. As I have previously posted. The Alderman of this City want those Jobs for themselves. Many of the IPRA Investigator's make over $75,000.00 or more. There are some that make in the 90"s. All I can say many of you got what you asked for. For years I have read about all the negative post regarding IPRA. 4 shootings out of over 400 shooting sustained. I know the very vast majority of the shootings were good. But be honest, how many were in the gray area? There is another figure that most of you failed to realize: How many cases did IPRA sustain? When one takes out Domestics, Off duty drunkenness, Improper Discharge of Weapons what did you have? 2/3% of all complaints made where sustained. I have always maintained there were several cases that PO's got screwed. Cozzi to name one. But who really screwed him? JFed. Ask yourself this question: How many Police Officers have been stripped since Farley has taken over? How many shooting are being re-examined since Farley has taken over? Now, what Rahm is going to do is give these jobs out to the alderman. If you think it is bad now. Ladies and Gentlemen wait. There are two keys that you have to watch for: If there is a set budget and Who is going to get the position of Inspector General for the Police Oversight committee? Several extreme Left wing radical law groups wants one of their own in this position. Why you ask? Simple, if you think there is way to much money paid out now, wait until there is a far left radical from one of the law offices or one of their friends get this position. It is all about money. If anyone remembers when a certain friend of the Mayor was the head of the Corporation Council, money was flying out left and right from the City Council. Make no mistake about it, Rahm is running it. He makes Daley look like a clown(No pun intended) The reason why Rahm does not want to give up Corporation Council control is simple; If the mayor has that position, he has control. This is going to be interesting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guns, intersections, crime, bad culture, failing schools - if we could just get rid of all those things the remaining population would flourish.

Now that skunks have been creeping into Chicago's neighborhoods, Animal Control might want to round all of them up and turn them loose on this intersection. A herd of foraging skunks would be a definite deterrent to people congregating.

Not really. They'd just wonder what those funny looking cats are while they look around for the guy selling that skunk weed.
