What to Do?

So 12-hour days remain in effect for Monday, regardless of the outcome of Game 5.

But if you are in Day Off Group 62 or 63, you are RDO. First and Second watches will have all the cars.

And Third Watch? They show up for work at 1230 hours and sit around waiting for the Command Staff to make up something for them to do.

Brilliant plan.

Our unions should demand the reason for a 12 hour work day on Monday---what the fck- after 3 twelve hour shifts in a row--its a fourth (with less than 8 hrs between 3rd and 4th go around)--How does this make sense? Just because the brain surgeons in charge of writing the orders can only make sweeping generalized plans---12 hour shifts, no actual assignments, swaths of hidden "stand by" folks not even deployed- just soaking up the OT, deployment rosters full of unavailable (furlo/limited duty/medical) members- and missing available names (of people who are actually in roll call).....No idea who is footing this bill- but they should do a forensic audit - cause they are being ripped off.

Important Question to anyone up to speed on the contract. I worked NATO and remember (although it took a few years)a little extra pay for some working 6-7 days in a row. Well, this is definitely the case for the Cubs. My DOG worked the regular 4 then the 2 RDOs cancelled and now doing the regular 4 again for 10 days in a row. Do we get extra pay? Thanks.

So if the 12 hours ended yesterday, the people that got off at 2000/2100 would have to be back by 5am, those working till 0800/0900 would have to back by 2100. This is going to have to happen anyway, but if they stay on 12 hours thru Wednesday then we would only have to do it to them once.
Not by any means the best or even the most logical answer, because 12 hours in a beat, day after day, car is a lot to ask, especially if your in a busy district.
Wouldn't ever count on going to 12 hour days, with cancelled days off we had more people on the street than ever and we still had 17 murders.

Please be safe and get as much rest as possible, if your dog tired say something, I hope their is still some common sense left in the districts.

Here we are again working 12 hours on October 31 2016, one man cars. We worked 2 man cars on October 28, 29, and 30. What happened to OFFICER SAFETY? Why the switch from 2 man cars to one man cars? Remember the Cubs are paying for all the overtime. Do you really believe that the Cubs are paying for all the overtime? Show me proof. The City of Chicago does not care about officers safety. If your going to fool the citizens with this , at least have the police patrol in 2 man cars untill the World Series is completed.

Great question! Without a doubt the pro-police candidate Trump will sweep the elections easily from that criminal pos! This is insane anyone that would even fathom a wasted vote voting for the criminals clinton cabal! Hope the people that goofy and blind enough to vote hillary realize that if she steals this election crime is extremely high especially in chiraq it will minimum double possibly triple! Many good people are arming up, very smart knowing that the mayhem and anarchy of rahms and hillarys party will finish destroying this once great country!

Then we have our really ignorant pathetic aldergoofs like o'reilly leading a rebellion to remove Trumps little sign by his multi-million dollar hotel which employs hundreds of Chicago residents, mad because Trump spaekas the truth about thug crimes and the illegal invaders all over this once proud city! Then we have the other entitled aldergimmethats mad because the Cubs with Joe Fergusons help were not allowed to continue the shakedown for tickets scheme.

The most egregious here was milly "I am poor santiago" mad because the $116,000 dollar a year part time salary, and funded pension, and free health care for them all. and the 2 million in "discretionary taxpayers money" they can do whatever they please with like buying votes!

No, Carnies know what they are doing. They can setup and teardown their operations in hours. They plan ahead and have their entire YEAR of stops set up before they start.

An intelligent organization would have started their planning when the Cubs were surging ahead in July and August. They would have put small scale plans in place during the playoffs. They would have given their most valuable resources a heads up that the plans may include twelve hour days weeks ago. They would give their people a chance to stabilize their personal lives. They would not shit on their people.

Compare and contrast with the Chicago Police Department.

The DOJ should investigate the CPD. If they really wanted to fix the problems with the CPD, they would look at CPD leadership.

I believe it was 12 or 13 days in a row for NATO that got us the extra money. It was only one of the day off group numbers that were in those "bonus" hours. Many worked in the 7, 8 and 9 days in a row range during NATO without being affected. There is the pay cycle "bonus" OT rate if you worked past a certain number of hours OT for the cycle.

Yes, day 6 and day 7 you get time and a half for those days worked even if those are just regular day and not cancelled. Cancelled RDOs you get time and a half already but if you work a 6th day and 7th day as regular days u get paid time and a half also just for the 6th and 7th day.. not for days 8,9,10 etc. so for those two days be sure to fill out a slip

I noticed that there was a nice looking blonde with yoga pants that was filming us. She was filming us very slowly and deliberately. I am a bike officer and she was filming us at around Addison and Sheffield. So I followed her and sure enough, she was filming everyone down the line and then on Waveland. I called a buddy of mine from the 004th district and told him about this suspicious character and he was stationed at about 1200 West Addison and guess what? The same girl was filming them! Now aint that something? But most of my fellow officers were in too much of a jovial mood to notice anything. They were checking out all of the chicks and high fiving everyone. Some of you idiots need to understand that radicals come in all shapes and sizes. They probably picked this one in particular- a very good looking blonde with yoga pants so you goofs would not say anything to her. In case you are wondering, yes I did confront her and she just smiled and walked away. She also had two other male whites with her. One of them in his twenties and another in his fifties. As soon as I went in to talk to her, both of them swooped in. I can guarantee you, our pictures will end up in a database for some lefty organization.

Actually, NO! Screw the FOX Sports crew. They are cool at first, but that deteriorated quickly.

They were great at first- but after CPD refused to order 2 fans with a giant "Hillary for Prison" sign to leave the area or take the sign down, they got extremely shitty. They created a giant blank sign to run around in front of these guys, told CPD they were going to steel the sign/paint it, or anything else they could get it to do from appearing in the background of their camera shots.

Rightfully the CPD officers maintained respect for the First Ammendment, and told FOX Sports that these citizens had a right to free speech. FOX Sports in return told CPD they were no longer free to come back and use their bathroom and help themselves to refreshments.

My wife said she was pulled over on Touhy/Mannheim Road by an police car she didn't recognize. The officer stated he pulled her over for not turn signaling while changing lanes. She said the officer worked for Department of Aviation police and when she said her husband was a Cook County Sheriff he gave her a pass but acted like he was doing her a favor. My question is exactly what Department is that and why would they be pulling someone over not inside an airport?

Hey SCC Could you get a thread going about many of us working 6,7,8,9, and even 10 days in a row? I believe there's something in the contract about it. We can't count on FOP to say anything. You're a much better watch dog for us. Maybe your website can run for FOP president too.

10/31/2016 12:41:00 AM

I agree. I will wind up working 9 consecutive days with at least 5 of them being 12 hour days.

Read your contract, 6th and 7th consecutive day applies to the work week, which runs from Sunday thru Sat. If those consecutive days worked cross weeks it does not count for pay purposes. Ask your timekeeper.

If you work 1st watch in 004/006, cause 12 hours isn't enough, zone 8 will assign you in progress jobs at 0745 so you can do 13-14 hours. It's great

That could be easily fixed by a sergeant if he gets on the air and tells the zone to reassign those calls to late cars or even days. I've noticed how very few times that happens even during our regular tours. I think many of them are under the impression that OT is some favor and maybe it is for some, but most people would rather get out on time.

So in 025 our merit hack commander has all the 3rd watch personnel on North AV foot posts between Austin and Cicero. The rest of the guys are deployed, on foot to some of our various shithole parks. After roll call a bunch of us we're sitting on the benches outside the back door shooting the shit. LT KS comes out and says the commander wants us on our posts and to take the bus and get there. We all laughed at him and he went back inside. Low and behold a sgt comes out a few minutes later with keys to a van and dropped us off. Just wanted to thank our great commander for this great morale booster tonight. Maybe you forgot your guys were out there on our feet for 3 days in a row. Thanks a lot boss, your the best! 💩

LT K.S. likes to walk into the roll call room laughing, smiling and acting as if he is our friend. But in reality, he is a very petty man. He despises most of the officers on the watch and whenever he gets a chance to stick it in the ear; he does it--- with a huge smile to boot. A perfect example is what happened today to the 3rd watch officers who were told to take the bus.

There were ways around this. Officers could have been given a ride by a few cars from the 2nd watch. There were a few cars left with four seats and the tact unit had cars with four seats that could have been used. But no, dicktator (I misspelled that on purpose!) decided the officers could take the buses to their foot posts.

Ok boys and girls no go fetch some activity between 2100 hours and 2300 hours. LOL.

There have been many a posting regarding our unique, unarmed DOA officers who are trained - but not allowed - to be armed. Quite a few of their personnel moonlight for suburban departments - maybe they forgot which agency they were working for.

Hey "REAL" police airport security (that is your proper job title on the city payroll database), why don't I see your agency listed in CLEAR when I'm looking up who has been arrested? I mean, I see community colleges with a lockup database in CLEAR, but not you guys.

I also don't see that you are assigned a court key. Tell me real police, how many arrests has your department made?

You strokes couldn't even get hired to work part time in Crestwood or as suburban "park district police".

Pull me over and I'll just drive away, after I laugh at you and tell you what a stroke you are. You going to chase me? You going to write a warrant? Would you know how?

Aviation security is just another place for the kids of political hacks to get money (though not much of it) with no skills.

If you were the "real police" you wouldn't disgrace yourself hanging out at the airport with no gun. You'd join a municipal or county agency. But you can't, because they don't want you.
