For the second year in a row, malcontents are going to interrupt citizens freedom of movement to buy stuff:
- For a second straight year, protesters will attempt to disrupt Black Friday shopping along Chicago’s Magnificent Mile.
Last year, hundreds of demonstrators marched on North Michigan Avenue last year to protest what they called unjustified police shootings.
That forced many businesses to close earlier on the busiest shopping day of the year.
This year, protesters say they will be back on the Mag Mile, to draw attention to gun violence, racism and police brutality.
Again, how about marching where....you know....the violence is actually occurring?
Would that be too dangerous?
Or are the marchers admitting that the violence is moving downtown?

A petition has been created on the White House "We the People" page asking that the federal government prosecute ALL cases involving incidents whereby an offender uses a firearm against an on-duty law enforcement officer resulting in great bodily harm or death of the officer. Although I come to thi sight to get a idea of what is really happening. Often times the media fails to report, or in most cases gives a inaccurate account of what really occurred.
I will say I used to take my family to Michigan Ave and State St. to see the window displays, the lights, and for a nice lunch with the Christmas crowd. Last year when the unruly protrstesters took over Michigan Ave and threatened my family from entering a store, I got my family out of there. I was shocked and could not believe that these hoodlums were allowed and given carte blanc to act this way. All while Police Officers stood by and watched. These hoodlums actually blocked the entrance and told My Husband 2 kids and I if we attempted to enter they would "beat our ass". Needless ro say my family and I retreated and went to Woodfield. This will be our 1st time in 16 years that we will pack up and go to the burbs. Do not need the lawlessness and aggravation that is allowed here.
I myself do not consider this type of behavior a protest or demonstration, this is a criminal act and needs to be stopped. If you prevent a family or even 1 person freedom of movement, it has become a criminal act. That goes for sidewalks, stores, and streets. This should not be allowed. Shame on the mayor, alderman, and Superintendent for condoning this lawlessness.

Agreed the law in Chicago clearly states you can march on sidewalks but you must not impede others from moving,and you cannot be on the streets unless you have proper permits so when we have a superintendent and mayor that supports law and order the anarchy and mayhem will continue unabated!

People wonder why on-line shopping is expanding. Not having to go out and risk life and limb to urban youth and the like will become the norm, if not already. Retail brick and mortar shopping will evolve to closed private malls with entrance security and the need to be a paying member. Other more public (dangerous) shopping will resemble corner bodegas with thick yellowed plexiglass and armed guards behind armor. Karen lewis does not represent all teachers. They got a 2 1/2 percent raise over four years not a yr but total. not much is it

I'm not sure if anyone has noticed, but since Rahm Emanuel has been on the 5th floor, this city's traffic has been complete gridlock. The reason? It seems to be twofold. First: Rahm has dismantled the Department of Streets and Sanitation to the point that every project that normally fell under the realm of the city has been taken over by outside contractors. While that might sound like a boon when he and his suburbanite peons spout numbers of the number of streets being resurfaced, the fact is that these outside contractors communicate nothing to SOS, and rip up roads ad hoc. Further, because they rip these things ad hoc and have been given carte blance by the midget on the 5th, nothing anywhere has been cross-checked. So, while you have the Jane Byrne project going, you also have the teardown of the Western over-pass, Logan Boulevard, entire swaths of the West Side (Sacramento is being torn up by People's and the Like), Elston, Fullerton, et al. All of this within a tiny little area of people. And so, because all of this is going on, you have traffic jams and the time it takes to get from anywhere to anywhere, well, it's horrific. Top that off with resurfacing on Damen, and all of the other nonsense, where developers rip things up, without permits, and you have an absolute nightmare on your hands.
This is all in addition to all of the projects going on everywhere else. All of the projects that have not been thought out. All of the things, like the Laquan McDonald tapes that were withheld so that little Rahm Wilmette Emanuel could remain the Mayor. I know that a lot of you guys think that Dart or Preckwinkle would be a bad choice, but tell me why? This little fucker in the chair on the 5th is much, much worse. He has truly made this city a worse place, from his lying about police hirings to his encouragement of citizens to engage their anger toward the CPD. He truly is the devil, and an inept one at that.
If one wants to enroll in the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois PPO network, the following (monthly) and ANNUAL premiums will be deducted from the pensions of non-Medicare retirees:
INDIVIDUAL...($1,466/mo.) x 12 = $17,592
COUPLE........($2,610/mo.) x 12 = $31,320
FAMILY...........($3,622/mo.) x 12 = $43,464
I plan on taking advantage of the 55-and-out for 2% of my pension.
If my pension is $80,000 I'll pay $1,600 a year for me and my family.
Can someone explain how, given the numbers shown by the original post?
I've asked around and have attended a 55 and out seminar. Nobody seems to know the answer.
Please no cat calls. I'm not a healthcare expert and really not sure how it's going to work. How is the city involved and how do I know they won't pull the rug out after I retire?

The top numbers are ONLY if you DO NOT retire with the age 55 or age 60 "contractual agreements" which IS only 2% ($1600 @ year) of your annuity if you are 55 or FREE if you are age 60.
I don't know what "age 55 seminar" you went to but this is very simple.

$1600 a year for your family sounds great...Here is the full story. I went out under the 55 years old with free medical. That lasts until you turn 65, then medicare kicks in. Medicare costs approx. $140 per month plus another #299 for the Atena medicare advantage extra plan. This covers what medicare does not pay plus drugs. So now you are paying about $500 a month just for you. (Here is where it gets scary) If your spouse is under 65, she will need a private medical plan with the costs that you listed above. Assuming your children are now out of the house, you will pay $6000 ($500X12)for yourself and almost $18000 for your wife. Hope you can afford $24000 for medical insurance!!! That is why retirees are screaming foul right now.

A petition has been created on the White House "We the People" page asking that the federal government prosecute ALL cases involving incidents whereby an offender uses a firearm against an on-duty law enforcement officer resulting in great bodily harm or death of the officer.
