Charges - But Why Was She Free?
- A 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl were ordered held without bail Sunday after being charged with murder in the shooting death of Jovan Wilson, the grandson of U.S. Rep. Danny Davis.
Tariq M. Harris, 16, and Dijae T. Banks, 17, are charged as adults with first-degree murder in an attack that started as a fight over clothes and shoes, police and prosecutors said. The pair were taken into custody Saturday.
Nice job by the detectives. But this comment popped up in the comment section:
- The offenders are in custody.
So many things I want to say about this case, but I can't, for legal reasons.
And the rant would be endless.
I'll leave it at this: there is NO REASON the offender should have ben on the street. Actually, scratch that...there are LAWS THAT PROHIBITED THIS OFFENDER BEING ALLOWED TO BE ON THE STREET, THAT WERE PURPOSELY BYPASSED.
I hope every person involved, JUDGE, HEAD JUDGE, PRICKWINKEL, and every other bastard that intentionally did not follow mandated sentencing guidelines, serves time for this one.
Sounds like the Cook County courts once again, released someone who shouldn't have been released? There's a clue in the article:

So who dropped the ball on this one? IDOC? Tommy Dart? Either "day-for-day" credit or "empty the jail/prison!" is to blame for this predator being on the street.
Step up and take your hit. Tell the taxpayers why these convicts aren't in a cage where they belong, serving their entire sentences. Don't worry about fallout - Danny Davis has been supporting this sort of thing all his life - he couldn't possibly hold it against anyone.

I think they were all juveniles. All had terrible records from what I'm told. None of them should have been on the street.

Aparrently you know zero about the Juvenile Justice system. No one knows the specifics surrounding her robbery conviction, but the judge is not going to House her in Juvy based on one conviction. Does the system suck, no doubt about that. But if you want to House kids based on a single conviction you better prepare to house 1000's of kids and be ready to pay for it.

17 years old is a juvenile in Cook County now, and has been for a few years now. The young woman was likely in some diversion program, designed to take the stigma of being incarcerated off of her. This is a common practice in the juvenile justice system, where many criminal justice researchers and criminologists believe that the 'stigma' of being arrested and detained at juvenile hall is just too stressful and leads many youths into an onward spiral directly into the adult criminal justice system.
YEAH.......dream on.

No sympathy here, Danny Davis is one of only a small handful of Congressmen that voted against the 911 bill allowing the families of 911 victims to sue the middle eastern government for loss of life, the bill passed overwhelmingly with only a small handful of congressmen voting against it, Davis and another black female congresswoman from Illinois both Democrats voted against it. Obama was also against this bill and to date has not signed off on it. This vote took place a few months ago.

Prekwinkle has ordered that the Juvenile Detention center release all inmates they can. The only inmates who cannot be released are those charged as adults with bonds ordered by a judge at 26th street.

She was 17 fucking years old. Only recently she was a juvenile; before the law was changed she would have been an adult and tried as such. I've always believed that in this time and age the "adult" age should be dropped, not increased to 18. Should be 15. For a lot of these shitheads they are already hardcore criminals by the time they hit that age.

In A/N we recently had a 17 year old arrested and charged with armed robbery of an off-duty P/O. Once in custody, we learn that he has three pending armed robbery (handgun) cases in juvenile court. Once he is charged in our case, released to momma the next day. If the copper had shot him (and justifiably so), BLM would be screaming to the high heavens. Keep voting Democratic!
