Chicago's refusal to assist the Federal Government in terms of apprehending and deporting illegal aliens dates back to the mayoralty of Harold Washington. I believe that it began with executive orders and eventually the City Council passed an ordinance establishing Chicago as a "sanctuary city." This completely violates the principle of the supremacy of Federal laws on these issues.
As a practical matter, it meant that the Federal immigration authorities had to waste time and resources looking for aliens who were in police custody or incarcerated at the county jail rather than simply being notified that such persons were under arrest.
It was a complete duplication of effort.
Ordinarily, the practice was to collect a criminal after he or she served their sentence and then process those eligible for deportation. Unfortunately, given lax Federal bureaucrats, the ICE program became a glorified "catch and release" system too.
Build the wall. Under Eisenhower, the USA deported as many as one million illegal aliens annually. That would be a goal worth shooting for.

There was good reason for this protocol and it worked very well for many years. It ensured that our new citizenry had a basic understanding and respect for this country, as well as the ability to communicate and understand the majority of the population already living here. They had a basic understanding of their rights as a citizen and how the government functioned. More importantly, in a country populated with so many individuals with unique and diverse backgrounds, it provided a common foundation and cohesive quality that bound all of us as American citizens. You can see the damage already being done from those who have skipped this time-tested protocol. There is a vast difference between those immigrants of my grandparents' generation and the illegal aliens of today. My great-grandparents loved this country, despite the very real discrimination they experienced, in time when businesses openly posted signs "No Irish/Italians or dogs allowed". They worked hard to learn the language, assimilate, and contribute. Their children/nephews/cousins served in our U.S. military. They had great pride in their heritage, but even more pride in being American. Today's illegals and refugees have no pride or allegiance for this country. They display flags, bumper stickers, pins, and shirts of their nations of origins, not the stars and stripes. They have no desire to assimilate to American culture; they expect everything translated and interpreted for their convenience. They have no shame in seeking or expecting social assistance, though most have never paid into it. They are offended by our holidays and religious icons that permeate most aspects of our Christian founded society. We need to re-establish that protocol that once helped build this country and kept it strong. It's time to show some American pride for a change.

I am not sure that anyone keeps that information on record. I have never seen an arrest report or criminal history that asks that question. But, it would be good if they did. I know the federal system keeps some records along those lines. Yes, CPS overwhelmed by children of illegal immigrants, low paid illegal immigrants filling jobs that should go to curtail the high unemployment rate of blacks, free tuition for illegal immigrants, resident college tuition rates at state schools, and of course, something no one wants to talk about, corruption within the latino community on a massive scale.
Criminals and their cohorts are one of the biggest Democrat contituencies. This is why Obama has made mass prison releases a priority and why Democrat politicians are working as hard as they can to restore the voting rights of felons, and to create voting rights for those who are in this country illegally.
Like their constituents, Democrat mayors of sanctuary cities will not follow the law. They will only enforce laws that generate money for their corrupt political machines, or laws that hurt their political enemies or dissenters, whom they label as xenophobic, racist, homophobic, etc.

Looking at next year's proposal for Healthcare, it seems that it will cost me somewhere between $2,300 and $2,600 a month for insurance. Pretty much near half the pension check. I can't recall ever having received such an assurance in more than a half-century -- and I was born here.
I remember back around 1962 when the blue-and-white scheme came in -- the phone numbers were still PO5-1313 and FI7-1313 -- and Fire Commissioner Quinn brought in new snorkels from Germany, and the CFD paramedic ambulances that made us feel so safe. FD demonstrated some of the new apparatus at Soldier Field, nice halftime show at the midget races on a summer night...
It seems to be the last time I had a sense that something good was going on in this city. Everything else has to me been a pattern of tear down, take away, shut down, eliminate, despoil -- a whole way of life destroyed, my people scattered, and the earth plowed with salt, as it were. More like "scattered with glass from empty 20/20 bottles." Closed factories, lost jobs, destitute people laying in the shadow of gleaming high-rises, and destroyed neighborhoods that have become no-go zones -- shooting maps with the dots stacked so closely that there isn't even room for them all.
Demographics illustrating the future here -- CPS' own stats say that the public schools are down to 10% white student body -- and declining. 6000 more people left Chicago last year -- largest decline of any urban area in the U.S.
Rahm will talk his way around all this for a third term. Yeah, right. More Chinese-owned luxury condo towers and "skate ribbons" and silly banners on phony "antique" light poles, that's the ticket...

This Executive Law Enforcement position will carry out the Federal Directives of not only Immigration issues, but also ALL other criminal investigations involving Civil Rights, Terrorism/ Counter Terrorism, and Drug-related offenses.
In other words, this guy reports to NO ONE except the highest levels of the DOJ. And don't worry, the guy who has been selected is NOT from NYC, Boston, or any other East Coast city. Not a West Coast guy either.
This position is ABOVE any county sheriff or city superintendent position in its authority. The position will be in charge of overall strategic direction for the leadership of any, and all, task forces or specially mobilized Tac units. It also includes overall direction on any multi-city, multi-regional task force (i.e. any suburbs or regions of ANY of the collar counties)
Here is the law enforcement executive who will be taking charge in Chicago. He is a NO-BULL SHIT guy, over 30 years of Distinguished Law Enforcement leadership in a BIG county, and will demand only the BEST out of his subordinates. Something that Chicago has not seen in its last several Superintendent.

Of course, he, like so many of his over-educated yet misinformed colleagues have ignored the reality and true history of American immigration. A long time ago, in an America far far away, anyone who sought to become an American citizen first had to have a sponsor, someone who has already established themselves as as a legal citizen, usually a family member, who would ensure he or she would have a place to live and find employment. Upon his/her arrival, he/she would be quarantined and given physical evaluation to protect the public health against communicable and dangerous diseases/infestations. After learning how to read and write in the English language, studying American history, the U.S. Constitution and government, he/she must pass the written test for citizenship and then be officially sworn in. There was good reason for this protocol and it worked very well for many years. It ensured that our new citizenry had a basic understanding and respect for this country, as well as the ability to communicate and understand the majority of the population already living here. They had a basic understanding of their rights as a citizen and how the government functioned. More importantly, in a country populated with so many individuals with unique and diverse backgrounds, it provided a common foundation and cohesive quality that bound all of us as American citizens. You can see the damage already being done from those who have skipped this time-tested protocol. There is a vast difference between those immigrants of my grandparents' generation and the illegal aliens of today. My great-grandparents loved this country, despite the very real discrimination they experienced, in time when businesses openly posted signs "No Irish/Italians or dogs allowed". They worked hard to learn the language, assimilate, and contribute. Their children/nephews/cousins served in our U.S. military. They had great pride in their heritage, but even more pride in being American. Today's illegals and refugees have no pride or allegiance for this country. They display flags, bumper stickers, pins, and shirts of their nations of origins, not the stars and stripes. They have no desire to assimilate to American culture; they expect everything translated and interpreted for their convenience. They have no shame in seeking or expecting social assistance, though most have never paid into it. They are offended by our holidays and religious icons that permeate most aspects of our Christian founded society. We need to re-establish that protocol that once helped build this country and kept it strong. It's time to show some American pride for a change.

Sanctuary cities are a slap in the face to every taxpayer who has emigrated here legally. Illegal criminals are now victims and law abiding tax paying citizens are now selfish individuals. The law was made to be broken and the democrats believe they are smarter than everyone else while they break the law and they really are smarter than everyone else.
