- A couple accuses an off-duty Chicago police officer of attacking in a case of road rage.
It is the same cop caught on camera beating a man at a Portillo’s restaurant.
Five excessive force beefs, three for domestic violence and a 30 day suspension. The Department has some explaining to do.

People that have anger issues like that moron have no business carrying a gun and dealing with people. Your post on this and the other one about the incompetent cop go along way to restoring trust with the community SCC. More good cops need to point this behavior out, but sadly you'll probably be called a rat for your good judgement here. Keep up the good work SCC.

It's guys like him that make this job harder than it is. They always get into unnecessary shit and expect everybody to support them, over and over again. Working security at Portillos should be an easy gig. Stand there, walk around a bit, grab a complimentary lunch or drink and when the drunks get verbal, be smart about it. No need to start punching people. No security job pays enough for that. You're job is to be smart, not stupid.
How many were sustained? Just because there are beefs doesn't make them true.

This is what is going to occur much more frequently with the relaxed rules on hiring. It's going to cost the City bigger bucks in payouts to victims.

I know the officer in question as having worked on a tact team with him and he is one of the finest officers I know. The domestic stuff was baby momma drama. None of the beefs prior to the Portillos video being released resulted in him getting dumped from a nice unit. What the media fails to reveal is that the officer has been awarded 2 medals of valor and was a finalist for the Carter Harrison award for his actions in stopping armed carjacking offenders while off duty. The city had the Portillos video for years before it was released and he was only stripped after the Supt. decided that he didn't like the way the video looked and stripped the officer "for his own good". He was a working copper which we all know leads to beefs.

Let's get REAL S.C.C.... These incidents are being brought up by none other than Dave D.U.I. Savini who has a big HATE IN HIS HEART for law enforcement EVERYWHERE since is arrest awhile ago. Not trying to side up for this officer or the allegations against him Dave Savini and the CBS HATCHET team of producers would portray "Charlie Manson" as an innocent victim of over zealous police officers committing acts of POLICE WRONGDOING just to show something for his lowly rated & seldom watched 10 P.M.news show !

No offense Scc I'm all for outing officers that have clearly done wrong and who truly don't deserve to be on the job but you are starting to sound a lot like them. One video does other always do justice to the totality of the incident.

Just another example of poor media reporting. The allegation is from 2007. Seriously? That's the best this "ACE" Reporter can come up with. A nine year old complaint that claims everything and anything. I don't remember what I did last week but this "complaintant", from almost 10 years, remembers it like clock work. If it was so crazy this officer would've been stripped years ago.

What's the glam about playing tact guy while OD? Is it the $16 hr. or the backwards cap 24/7?
The C-BS Team is digging through some old stuff, unlike IAD and the Merit Selection Sponsors.
They could start digging through the Arrest Reports and looking at which Merit CO are doing the approvals.
Something to be said about pro-active District Activity, hmmm?
Maybe Savini & Co can come up with a CR Promotion List and even highlight a few qualified Candidates passed over because of their lack of CR's.
But I'm sure lowering the Hiring Standards will negate that list anyway.

What's going on is a PR war that right now, Rahm, Foxx and Dart are winning. Fat Head Ed's ham-handed actions are his weak attempts at scoring points but come at the expense of department morale. These actors love incidents like this because it allows them to assume the role of "fixers" and maintain the illusion a little longer that they have something positive to offer.
The less small stuff they have to "fix" the faster the larger issues of department size, policies and corruption will come to the surface.
Twenty three incidents, 23. Eight for excessive force or domestic violence.
Why do these things keep happening to that poor, innocent officer?
It must be all those racist Chicagoans picking on him!
It can't be his fault, he was turning his life around after his suspension!

I got news for you dipshit - Being "a working copper" does not lead to off duty beefs and traffic altercations or baby momma drama, stupidity and personality disorders do.
I do not know the officer. I do know, however, that this is hardly the venue to start discussing him like many of you are. I also know that an allegation does not mean truth. Over and over SCC posts about how biased the media has. I'm pretty surprised that this is being featured, because all it is doing is adding credibility to it.
Having been sued, I personally know that there is absolutely nothing that prevents the other party from making up any fabrication, putting it on paper and trying to make money off of it. Dave Savini is hardly impartial and cares not for whom he hurts while attacking LE.
If you are saying that having 20 CR's in a career makes him a plague on the department, maybe you should re-think this entire article. Did anyone actually watch the video?
