- Look, I'm a supporter of this blog and understand your predisposition for what is going on these days, but yikes, this story appears very, very ugly. Um, what "100% one-sided reaction" there Sparky? Ripping the Supe? We've been doing that for ten-plus years now. Saying we "have no information," "we...have...questions," and "investigation progresses"? It only makes sense to await answers, whether or not the shooting is good or bad. "Foxx is all over" it? Statement of fact.
Now your statements of "very, very ugly" and "really messy" and "doesn't look so good" appear to be leaps to conclusions, which makes you a hypocrite and an asshat. Unless you're one of the investigators, which makes you a hypocrite, an asshat, and guilty of ethical lapses bordering on misconduct.
Special Ed is a prop. The sooner you realize it, the better. And he's there to sow doubt and mistrust of the rank-and-file. How difficult would it be to say, "inquiries are proceeding," or "the investigation continues," or even "we have no information at this time."? To stand up there and denigrate your detectives and say "I have a lot more questions than answer" is to belittle your entire organization.
Start looking at the big picture. And by "big picture" we don't just mean locally, though that is our immediate concern most days.

Let me tell you friend, this is why citizen Richard reads his news here. You are never going to get the voice of the people who actually do this work from any other source. Try and prove me wrong, I wish you could but the reality is this is straight from the guys and gals who put it on the line everyday so you can be free to write whatever the hell you want. I think it might be better on CNN or Bloomberg, but hey, SCC did not edit you. Think about it the next time you write something that probably is not really true.

OT: Just saw a report on WGN News that Chief Anne Kirkpatrick is leaving the Chicago Police Department to take the position of Chief of Police in Oakland, California. The report stated that this has not yet been confirmed by CPD but was announced in Oakland. Any truth to this? So much for her commitment to helping to "turn this city around" and making things better for the citizens of Chicago. Maybe Rahm will pass that Organizational Development spot on to me? Oh, I forgot - you have to be "special". My bad.
Do you know what also appeared very ugly from the start? The Michael Brown shooting. According to CNN,Officer Darren Wilson assassinated the gentle giant while little Michael was en route to enroll in medical school to one day cure cancer. The facts eventually surfaced and it turned out to be a legit shoot of a criminal trying to disarm an officer. Fat head Ed should take notice and realize investigations aren't wrapped up in 50 minutes like they are on episodes of CSI.

The Supe was saying that he didn't trust Staples, Jones and Duffin who were there on the scene. More blowback from the LaQuan McDonald crap. Even veteran detective division supervisors now have their credibility being questioned. We have lost the war!
