Asshole Says What?
This job is so finished:
- The brilliant inspiring new Commander of 019 has something much more important on his mind. All were informed at Roll Calls that the next officer that parks in the Commander,s parking spot in the garage will face disciplinary action! Now go out there and work for this stroke.
Um, asshole? It's his fucking spot. It probably has a sign on it. Why the fuck would you park in his spot? We don't care if he has two spots - one at Belmont/Western and another on Addison Street - it's his fucking spot. If we were commander (and thank God we never will be), the first time, we'd park our car crosswise across your bumper and leave it there for a day, seeing as how we had important shit to catch up on in the station for the next eight-to-twelve hours. The next time it happened, we'd have your car dragged out to the nearest hydrant by the fender, dump it there and make sure it got a ticket every two hours while you walked your foot route somewhere in a Boystown alley. Then we'd start to get nasty.
Who the fuck even thinks like this? In the old days, the less a commander saw of us (and we of them) the better for everyone. But some of these snowflakes today......

My guess is a Millenial sent you an inquiry.
Far more important things to worry about on the job today than pushing the button of a commander over a parking space. Entitlement is a wonderful trait. Well at least the coppers aren't shitting in the commander's private bathroom.
How about the asshats who takes up two or three parking spaces for their less than 20k car?? Pathetic!
Maybe he thought the sign was merely a suggestion. You know, those signs that say, "Parking District Commander Only" are a bit confusing and ambiguous. They really should clarify that.
Some of the new kids have a biiiiig chip on their shoulders, and that can really hurt them if their not careful. Look at what happened to Khan from Ogden Dist. The newer guy who punched that asshole from 15/Christiana, made the news and worse. Not worth it. These kids haven't had many consequences yet. Maybe they'll just have to learn the hard way. And ya. They suck at parking. Always parked cross ways where the damn squad cars are supposed to be. Ridiculous. I mean, it's common courtesy hello. Not all of them, but a hell of a lot of them. Some newer ones are actually very good and will be a great addition. Just don't park like an asshole! If ya gotta walk a block then fkin walk.
More likely coming from a Gel head .. They think anyone with 20 yrs is a stupid stroke ,for staying on the job and couldn't get another job
Big mistake parking in the boss's spot.
That said, there shouldn't even be a rank of commander in the first place. Another bullshit city job like Inspector to "take care of" the right clouted self-important assholes.
In the military, a captain runs a company of about 200 to 300 men, which is the size of a district.
Lieutenants can run a watch. If there's more than one lieutenant on a watch, go by seniority and have 1st Lieutenant inside and 2nd Lieutenant on the street. Captains can run a district. Cut out commanders entirely.
Why are you complaining? No surprises here.
This is what happens in a Cloutocracy - the Asshats float to the top.
Coppers are the biggest asswipes when it comes to parking. Ive seen cars parked anywhere where they're not supposed to park in the old back parking lots. I remember one PO in 014 parking his car directly in front of the car port. Of course the WC had his car inside the car port. Low and behold at 0530 when the WC wanted to go home the PO's car was still there and he wasn't answering his radio. Come 0700 checkoff you had a very angry WC waiting for the bright eyed and bushy tailed PO (JK).
No shit. I thought the same thing reading this crybaby's comment. Then again, it's 019. This is the problem with having the "I just went to college so give me." People think the military deserves no veterans points. Respect the rank, not the man (or woman) - act accordingly, softball, or pick a profession where there is no structure. Oops, turns out there's bosses in other jobs. Guess what? You're not entitled to what they earned either. Definite Democrat liberal is my assumption.
Don't park in his spot. Is 019 that coddled that this is an issue. Is 019 that influential to the blog that this is an issue??
Go to 003rd dist aka the turd dist. The commander there has a parking tix book. Limited parking in shitty dist and this guy is walking around with a parker book. Also sgt and up personal cars are have closer spots than marked cars with a prisoner can get. Haha wtf
In the old days you wouldn't have parked in the Commander's spot. You privileged whiny assholes take the cake.
Thank you. That's our problem. Like a guy or not some things just come down to basic respect and that's something that this country and its populace has lost.
park a pool vehicle there! he can go and pound sand!
The last paragraph sums it up nicely. In the old days no such topic was ever discussed at roll call. Blue shirts were smart enough to know where to NOT park. The sign was our clue. Jesus, I cannot believe how stupid some people can be. Actually my prior sentence was stupid. I can believe it.
How hard is it to just park you car where your supposed to, I know it should be lower on his list but come on., and while we're at it how hard is it to wear the proper uniform.
If I worked in the CAPS office, I would be worrying about my spot and not about a convenient parking spot.
If I was the Commander,I'd just have it towed. That would be the end of it.
If you're stupid enough to park in the Commander's spot, you're too stupid to be a Policeman,
Times have changed SCC, back in the day no commander would address roll call for crap like that. The officer would have been located through the watch secretary and have him move his car. The dumb ass would then be stuck on some shit detail for a day or two. Everyone else would hear about it via trickle down.
My commanders usually had no idea who I was. Suckholes kissed up to the bosses. Dumbasses brought attention to themselves by goofing up. Run silent, run deep.
So the new Cmdr decides not to park in the heated garage which is supposed to be used for bicycles, PAPVs and supplies - even though the previous commanders did so because they were special - and instead park in the same parking lot as the troops, IN A SPACE WITH A SIGN THAT SAYS DISTRICT COMMANDER. And he's the stroke?
019 is lucky to have MB. This original poster is a loser and also that's not what happened.
SCC, this is really OT, been wanting to type this for years. If it's too long to put in the blog, I understand…
Around 1981, I was joy-riding in a borrowed car. At age 16, I didn't have a license but felt I was “good enough” of a driver at the time to be able to drive safely. Crossing Clark St. at Waveland, I T-boned a car. Panicking, I hit the accelerator hoping to get away. I only went ½ block before I turned into a parking area. I knew it was stupid and had to face the consequences.
Sitting in the driver’s seat, too afraid to move, a uniformed officer ran up and asked if I was ok. Then he asked if I had a driver’s license. When I answered “No, sir,” he gritted his teeth and said “Get out of the car!” It was then I learned I hit his brand new POV, he was on his way home from work!
I was transported to Belmont/Western and put in an interrogation room. Sitting alone in the room, I had to wait for my poor mom to drag my younger siblings on two city busses to come get me. At some point, a sergeant walked into the room. He was older with grey hair. Carrying a small box of KFC, he asked “Son, are you hungry for some chicken?”
Of course, I respectfully declined. My stomach was in knots to begin with. I was surprised in his generosity, especially since I –not being licensed- hit a car belonging to one of his fellow officers!
When the dust finally settled, I realized that I too wanted to be a police officer. My career ended up in a moderately-sized city, working patrol for over a decade and eventually becoming a detective. The lessons taught that day, compassion and empathy, shaped me. I didn't take crap when it was thrown my way, but I also wore my heart on my sleeve when it was appropriate to do so.
From the officer I wrongly hit to the sergeant who went out of his way for me, you have no idea how your actions made my life’s trajectory. Those lessons were forwarded to the officers I trained as an FTO and to my academy cadets. I shared this experience with all I was charged to teach or train. It shows that one never knows where his/her influence ends… it’s still being carried forward thanks to you!
Work at a unit where the commanding officer is a Lt. He has a spot t. His spot has a sign, " commanding officer of unit xyz." So some po takes it upon herself to park in the Lt's spot. The Lt returns to the office, by the way that's usually why they have a designated spot
they're in and out a lot. Anyways the Lt parks across the po's bumper. The po gets off and observes what's clearly a department vehicle blocking her in. This part is brilliant. She enlists the help of several young buck po's to jack up one end of the vehicle at a time moving the vehicle out of the way, moves her car then they move the Lt's car back into his spot. Now you may say hey that's pretty funny good for them. But remember the Lt has her plate and isn't happy she parked in his spot in the first place and now has to admit she had help from other coppers to move his car around rather then face the music and ask the Lt to move his car. A simple I thought you were gone for the day and was late for roll call and there were no other spots available and was going to move it after roll call would have been the best case scenario. But hey sounds like your smarter then everyone else. I'm sure you have clout and think you're more important then everyone else and will be on the receiving end of a merit promotion soon enough. Good luck! Y the way the Lt is a pretty good guy and I don't think
anything ever came of it.
Amazing and some jackass will try to justify why they parked there. Keep the Commander quiet and unfocused on us.
I recently retired worked in many places in this city the commander always had his/her spot, and some even had spots for their secretaries and tact lieutenants had their spots don't be an idiot it is a simple request. Like the "spirits of the air" say the less scene of the commander the better, keep the boss in the office the less interaction the better what kind of goofs are being hired today?
It also has to deal with common courtesy - if a parking space is marked for someone else, then don't take it. I don't see why the drama over this. If I was the 019 commander and you parked in my space, I'd tow your car as a lesson for your dumb ass - and if you went and cried to the union I'd drink your delicious tears.
And THAT is the problem with this job today. I am by far a know it all, but in 30+ years, I've never seen things this bad. Where does one get off whining that the commander would like to park in HIS spot??
Like you said, bosses of years ago would've hung these clowns out to dry.
Straight midnights (back when rotating) for a few years and maybe they'd get the idea. Along with maybe a fixed post in the middle of some shithole district.
And who's the bigger idiot, the clown who parked there or the asshole who went to bat for him by commenting about it here!
It boggles the mind!!
Like him or not, that's the parking spot that's assigned to the commander. Stay out of it. This is probably the same ahole copper that puts the chair in "his" parking spot all winter.
Ticket and tow would be appropriate.
That is what this department has come to, SCC. A lot of the coppers getting hired now have little or no respect for rank or seniority. They question everything and argue. I am to the point that when a kid starts arguing with me I walk away and let him or her step in it. My parting shot is don't come to me looking for help on your To -From. Thank God I am just about done and on my way out.
Any time you can motivate (((Buslik)))........... DDDDDDOOOOOOO ITTTTTTT. He's friends with Dean Angelo and that's the evil connection...

JK is still a stroke. Made FTO in last class. That's one way to get somebody to work with him. Just don't give him any female recruits.

Thanks for illustrating something I told my crew pretty often. You never, ever know all the people you influenced in your career.
Glad you joined the good guys and went on to make a difference.

I remember the summer of 86. I had two boxes of eggs that i took to the Central Ave overpass overlooking 025. I emptied the whole box on the cars in the parking lot. Fortunately I made good on my getaway.
Hook it!
Surprised the vehicle wasn't towed. The commander had every right to have it done. Sometimes we are just our own worst enemy.
This is a north side issue isn't it? Did commander have two chairs with a broom stick lying across it to put dibs on his spot?
Ummmm, why not just give the parking scofflaw a ticket?
It is good enough for the rest of us, right?
Since one guy here got away with a stupid teen story and how cops were back then.....
Got my Olds cutlass up to 105 mph, saw a cop a block away, starting hitting the brakes and naturally got pulled over. How fast ya think you were going kid? 45 to 55 mph I said. He said, let's try that again. 55t0 65 sir. We played that game untill I said at cracked 105 mph at blank street. He said, Okay, 'NOW WE'RE TALKIN, Slow it down and get outta here.
Honesty. The best policy. That stayed with me my whole career. Admit it and you don't get a ticket.

Number one, the parking lot in 003 is plenty big enough, the problem is nobody wants to walk the extra 100 feet. Number two is if the area along the sidewalk by the back door was left clear it would be easy to take your prisoner in and once secure come out and move the car, but of course that would be work.
signed the previous garage door enforcer.
Since there are some OTs here, here's mine. I was leaving my parking lot downtown about eight years ago, when South Wacker was under construction. Driving west on Madison, crossing over Wacker, they had these barricades set up right down the middle of Wacker. As I went through the intersection on a green light, I was almost t-boned by a squad car with its lights and siren on that was about to fly through the intersection heading south on red. I scooted ahead and promptly pulled over to the right, to let him go by me. He pulled over behind me and jumped out of his car, screaming like a drill instructor, about stopping for emergency vehicles, and what the fukk was my problem, blah blah blah.
I looked at him, and very sincerely told him that I couldn't see him because of the barricades (this was 100% true) and if I had seen him, I certainly wouldn't have pulled out in front of him. He got this strange, confused look on his face, he turned around, jumped in his car, and took off at full speed. Older guy. Probably a sergeant, I'm not a cop, I didn't notice.
I always wondered, WTF? I figure he had a bad day. He was nice otherwise, I suppose he could have ticketed or arrested me... Don't know if there's a moral here. It didn't really affect me, just thought it was strange.
"A lot of the coppers getting hired now have little or no respect for rank or seniority."
Both need to be earned not just assumed. Especially when it comes to rank just because someone has stripes or bars on their uniform doesn't entitle them to fealty and blind allegiance by the subordinates. Seniority, one can expect someone defer to a person with time on the job because one day they'll be there. At the same time Seniority does give someone a pass if they don't have the knowledge and wisdom that comes with experiences.

WELL, OBVIOUSLY, you're some white guy. No black man EVER would have received a fair shake like that. Just goes to prove, based on my unsubstantiated comment, that ALL you police are racists! Beotches!
This new breed of copper thinks they should be ENTITLED to everything. While there's plenty of commanders I don't necessarily respect it's THEIR spot and THEYRE THE BOSS. You ever go to a real business and see a sign for CEO parking or VP parking? This isn't unique to CPD dumbass. Grow the fuck up. Could the commander have said "listen guys I don't mean to be a dick but I came in yesterday and had a meeting to be at with so and so and my spot was taken. Please just leave my spot open." Sure he could have said that, but you work for him he doesn't work for you. Man I'm tired of so many pussy ass coppers nowadays.
Anyone remember what was parked in Joe Curtin's parking spot years ago?? Old days indeed
he is not an a hole
the a hole is the idiot that parked in his spot
he should have had the car towed
go tell your mommy the big bad new commander yelled at you
pu--y
Big SIGN says "DISTRICT COMMANDER". There are plenty of parking spots, and they are right next to the station. Also, all the Officers had been told "not to park in the Commander's spot". If you fall asleep at roll call, too bad for you! Maybe the idiot should get to roll call on time, or read the C.O. book!
20 years ago........NO ONE WOULD PARK NEXT TO THE "COMMANDER'S SPOT". Now they want to park on HIS/HER SPOT? Lord, what have we created. The entitlement children, one day they will learn.
