So About that Unarmed Police Force
Given the recent shooting at the Fort Lauderdale airport, it might be time to refresh everyone's memory about this:
- If armed terrorists rushed the front entrances at Chicago's airports they would find more than half of all uniform police officers at O'Hare and Midway are unarmed.
At O'Hare and Midway not all 500 sworn police officers are created equal. Regular Chicago police carry guns. City Aviation Department police do not, even though they all undergo law enforcement training and certification. The unarmed airport police say that would be a problem in a terrorist attack.
With passengers scattering in Istanbul, authorities say armed police near the front door brought down at least one of the terrorists and stopped him from shooting even more people before blowing himself up.
At Chicago's airports there are about 230 armed Chicago police officers and nearly 300 unarmed aviation police.
Someone said that there is a movement afoot (once again) to arm the D.O.A. Police, so they don't end up DOA in the event of an attack. Remember, these are the officers who were told to "run and hide" in the event of an attack. That isn't going to be helpful.
And yes, we realize the D.O.A. Police have their share of political hacks and misfits - so do we. We would say that could be cured with an influx of training and money, but this is Chicago - who knows what Rahm would do with the money?

Knowing Chicago, the city will get a ton of federal money for armed police and proper security at airports and it will be diverted to some Ed Burke bullshit.
Dear Admin, I apologize in advance, but I've never posted a blog before, so I am using this thread to share some information with you, and I am hoping you get it out to all the troops. If this is old news I am sorry. The following site http://www.familytreenow.com/ Is a real problem for all LEO's. I didn't believe it a first, but when I searched my name I was shocked. My address and name, my Wife, my Sister, her Husband, my close friends and all relatives populated with name, address, and date of birth. I highly recommend that every person goes to this site and follows the OPT OUT procedure. I will try to notify the FOP as well. Thank you for your time.
Don't worry the Dillion's and the tall oak tree from 12 that's been on days her entire career since coming out of the academy will make isis think twice about attacking the airports.
One aviation PO overdosed on heroin in 010 last year.....ambulance took him to the hospital after a little narcan. All of his police stuff recovered from his personal car. Yikes
So this is like the tv ad with the unarmed security guard at the bank during a holdup. He is only there as a "monitor" to let everyone know there is a robbery taking place. So our airports have 300 unarmed monitors to let us know when Terrorist are attacking the facility. How fukking dumb are we?
Well said,SCC! Even though there are goofs/hacks/desk dollies & other assorted riff raff on both the CPD airport detail & DOA we need an armed deterrent at our airports. And a big FU to short shanks who insisted that the DOA police be unarmed while the little rat still has a police detail. If he wants a security detail - let him hire his own like Nixon did after Watergate sent him home to California.
Retired.38 spl +P
Rham, I want money taking out of city hall workers insurance funds and put in illegal immigrant legal funds... Yeah! Higher premiums
The more guns the better , if nothing else it discourages idiots from even trying . Really serious mother fuckers aren't going to be stopped by anything but other serious mother fuckers . That requires vision on the part of management .
Chicago's two airports are pretty much sitting ducks for what happened in Ft. Lauderdale. Realistically, look at the seniority it takes to get into the airport units (clout be damned). Your average airport officer has more than 20 years of service, and is looking at that position as a 'ride it out into the sunset' gig, with lack of tactical training and physical agility to boot.
This Daley era foolishness that our Aviation Police don't need firearms has gone on long enough. Arm them, train them and pray nothing like what has recently occurred in airports around the world occurs here.
Oh, and another thought--no more "firemen" chiefs of police for the Aviation Police. Hire someone who has been an officer. Clout should have no place when it comes to the security of our nation's air travelers.
"Run and hide" indeed...
Last time I checked, Airports weren't prisons or jail lockups - so why are the Police disarmed? It makes no sense unless you're a Communist and this is step #27999444032-1a in the playbook to demonize firearms.
In the real world, it's 100% insane and the DOA cops should roundly protest it. Make it well known that they're unarmed - let the World know. Watch that crap get fixed fast once there's some 'chatter' picked up (which will likely happen in 3.2 seconds after the protest).
Can we PLEASE get the Dumbocrats out of office and let the adults run things?
Same guys who stood there and watch offender attack the officers. No thankyou we don't need them get rid of them . That is a fact told no to get involved.
Just eliminate the (appropriately named) D.O.A. and bring back airport special. What a sweet gig that was.
When do we get guns?
230 armed? Not going to give numbers here on public blog but another rahm lie? Another unicorn falsehood?
The Aviation SECURITY guards had no screening when hired - they're all political hires.
"money, but this is Chicago - who knows what Rahm would do with the money?"
Same question could be asked about the gift from obama to rahm to pay for cta projects. Besides Walsh, who is getting their cut of those billions?
???
give them revolvers VERY BIG revolvers!
Agreed. Arm them or disband them.
Please repost every 6 months as nothing will be done to arm the DOA officers.
Maybe they can just have a bunch of fat-assed TSA people mill around aimlessly and that will stop any terrorists. Never mind; they already do that.
The days of unarmed police officers are long gone. Muslim jihadists can pop up anywhere in the world now. And instead of repelling the foreign invaders, we are to embrace them and change our American culture to accommodate them.
We can be told shit don't stink but only politicians believe it.
Stay safe Officers.
J.J.
Who knows what rahm would do with the money?im sure he would find " sanctuary " for the funds.
I am retired CPD and would hope and pray that they NEVER arm this department. Our delusional bosses are actively ordering activity aka...contact cards from untrained, childish inept morons as eventual justification for arming us. Anyone with ANY common sense knows that this "Uniformed Easter Egg Hunt" is an absolute civil rights train wreck waiting to happen. Maybe an FOIA request and lawsuits would remind the powers that be that we are just well paid SECURITY GUARDS.
Of the new guys hired, most go on to other agencies, including CPD.
Believe it or not, the hiring was more legit than ours too!
They also have a bunch of retired CPD guys there.
More guns are not going to stop an attack, and might even make it worse. Are more CPD the answer anyway? Airport security is a whole different game from fighting street crime, gang bangers and burglars. You would be better off with national guard with MP and security training. Plus they have better weapons and equipment than a glock 9 or 40. How good is CPD body armor compared to the military stuff, do you have the latest helmets and comm gear? Pro pros or at least semi-pros in the airports, and your average street cop does not even come close to them in training.
Make it a retiree job for CPD officers and arm them. Sweet gig and experience to boot. Maybe the Jimmy Carroll blogger can come out of retirement! LOL!
Can anyone answer why DOA police are unarmed???
Pennsylvania allows CCW in airport parking areas and the terminal area up to the TSA check point...not past. The National Concealed Carry Act now before Congress should allow CCW in all airports.
I fly with my firearm a lot. In chicago, I just go to the bagagge area and pick up my suitcase, hoping the baggage handlers didn't steal it. In San Diego, I was required to pick up the suitcase from the security office.
That said, the luggage is not supposed to be tagged as containing a firearm. TSA either X-Rays the luggage to see the weapon is stowed correctly or does a hand check with the owner present, as it is against federal law to allow anyone,(outside the owner even TSA) to open the locked gun case.
Also, the cartridges, need to be in a container made to carry them either the manufacturer box or an off the shelf bullet case. They are not allowed in a magazine.
All that said, this guy loaded at least two magazines while in the toilet, and nobody took notice.
Absorb D.O.A. like the Park District Police. Increase complement of CPD at airports. Deploy carbines. Nothing says welcome to Chicago like a salty 30 yr vet at the airport on bid with a carbine slung.
Again...Lets do the math. 230 Armed CPD...Divide by two airports.(That's all that's left now) Divide by three watches (shifts) Put each into 7 day off groups. Now subtract two day off groups for each day. Now subtract personal days off, Sick days, and scheduled vacations. Add in that most coppers don't give a shit about the job anymore, and remain fetal. (That's why they are at the airport assignments) Subtract the clouted Leiutenants, and Sgts. who are bosses. (Cuz that's the only ones who get to work there)And you are left with a good picture of how safe we actually are in our own airports.
This is a ticking time bomb...May G-D help us all.
What would happen with all the retired CPD that are over 63 in this scenario?
I flew out of midway during the holiday break with my family. Saw two CPD officers walking within the concourse. No body armor in sight. One had a six wheel hanging from her backside while talking on her Bluetooth.
DOA should be disbanded. The FOP should have fought them taking away jobs from CPD.

If true guess no cpd copper got caught taking illegal drugs correct? Now on topic they should all be armed as a matter of fact it is on the table to take cpd out of airports and just arm the doa police, the plan is during an arrest situation they could process prisoners like at Midway 008 would send a wagon and take prisoner to lock up. That way the city could deploy another 150 officers to the streets don't think it will happen? Not that many years ago in 008 they had 2 "airport beats" 808A,and 808B total of 4 coppers per shift just for a presence and the commander in 008 had the responsibility, now you wonder why the C.O. position at midway has been vacant for 8 months? That is the answer!
BTW many of the DOA coppers are former military and can handle a weapon, they qualify just like us pathetically once a year! They can carry anywhere cpd can just not on airport property who thought of this complete bullshit? The democratic machine was defeated soundly by Trump hope he helps Chicago with the grime crime picture! Highest in shootings and murders of any other city!!
What ya thinking SCC? If you get rid of the unarmed police, who are the civilians going to follow to safety when the shot hits? We won't know where to go.
Most of them have been arrested many times saw one at Midway I arrested many years ago how did get the job Ed Burke got him hired
230 armed police officers divided by 6 watches(2 airports) equals 38 officers per watch. Subtract 15 officers for furloughs, regular days off, personal and bfd days, medical and inside spots and that gives you 23 armed officers per watch. Sounds like this is a disaster waiting to happen????
And how many of the sworn carrying a weapon are just riding their time out, 25 years of service or more, likely to have health failure in a severe response situation.
DOA Cops are just like Intersection Control Aides, an opportunity for depleting the Police Ranks, but still putting a uniform on someone to give a false sense of security and control to the public.
Then over this way you have the terrorist anarchist bullshit reving up everywhere, use caution various sites are calling for all out rioting in chiraq as we well know we are not immured:
http://www.infowars.com/anarchists-are-hoping-to-turn-donald-trumps-inauguration-on-january-20th-into-one-of-the-biggest-riots-in-u-s-history/
As police our main job is to go home safe and protect Blue and Blue's families without us we have total and utter chaos even though we are being bastardized 24/7 by the "dishonest media" and the elected democratic crybabies!
In these trying times until President trump brings in the great teams he is assembling we must take care of what we have tips:
1) weapon clean and fresh ammo (have you used and practiced with your weapon recently?)
2) If you have a taser does it work? test it!
3) Some coppers never check their handcuff pouch do you have cuffs?
4) keep squad car full of fuel in case your stuck somewhere on a post.
5) Bug out bag with water, snack bars, aspirin, bandages, peroxide etc.
6) gas masks are filters fresh?
7) Protective eye glasses
8) hows that safety vest? does it fit properly?
9) baton
10) Fully charged cell phone in case!
11) extra police radio batteries
12) I know there is more but always be ready!!
God bless the police everywhere!
APD is a bunch of retirees and guys who couldn't get on anywhere else for a variety of reasons. That should be your first warning. When they go to jobs, the interfer to the point that they're hindering progress of it. Aviation is allowed to go to jobs, wear police identifiers, perform traffic stops, and generally act however they want without repercussions. And the police assigned to O'Hare, worthless. So how does that make our airports? Are the any police at either airport that are worth a damn?
If you perform background checks on the current aviation police to carry weapons, you might have a problem with some political hacks, AKA Cook County hires.
For those that don't know, the BULK of those unarmed Aviation Officers are great, hard working guys that we love at Unit 050. The problem lies with the core group of 4 or 5 young idiots who trample all over the rights of citizens in the airport and even suburbs with their ILLEGAL street and vehicle stops. The veteran CPD officers at O'Hare have gone out of our way to treat them all with the respect they deserve and impound some of our almost 30 years of knowledge. Unfortunately it has hit critical mass with the same core group still detaining citizens against State and Federal Law. Can you imagine a Home Depot or Nordstrom Security vehicle calling for a CPD marked unit because he has 4 heads in a car and the smell of cannabis? The problem lies with inept leadership that lacks common sense and has 0 clue of current anti police laws.

Honestly, you believe bullshit rumors like that. I've got 27 years on CPD. Face it, 75-80 percent, minimum, of CPD assigned to the airport are old as dirt or have never worked a day on the streets. Most of them I know, ran the other way when hell broke loose. The airports have been a retirement home for CPD as long as I can remember. The youngsters are all there with political favors. They all avoid calls and you are lucky if you can find half of them out of their hiding spots. Somebody said there ose one DOA officer who od'ed. I turned over a PO year ago to our Sergeant who was coming out of a crack house off duty. Me and my partner caught an off duty PO fucking a disease infested whore. So maybe there are a few bad apples in Aviation Police, but we have our share of misfits, drug users and criminals on CPD. It is easier to knock DOA, then realize the pieces of shit that have discredited CPD.
Instead of knocking them, maybe them being armed would save some civilian and CPD lives when the shit hits the fan at one of our airports. When all hell breaks loose, you won't give a damn who is next to you in the fight. Remember in todays times no one thinks twice about shooting any PO, no matter what department it is.
Airport police are deliberately not included in radio assignments to CPD and only responded when the call went to a 10-1 and THAT was broadcast on the APD frequency. The situation was under control when they arrived and their role at that time was crowd control. However they did provide handcuffs as apparently the CPD officers didn't have theirs with them. Apparently nobody had a taser either.
For at least the last 15 years and until just recently the hiring process for APD officers included a federal monitor during the interview process. They get a more extensive background check when the federal check is included. The federal check is required to get an access badge to the secured part of the airfield. APD officers also go through the same psych screening at the same place as CPD recruits go. APD recruits go through the CPD Academy Metor program and receive over 200 hours more training than the state requires for certification.
Before offering too much criticism it might be helpful to know that more than half of the 100 officers that were hired in the last 5 years are military veterans and most had combat experience in Iraq, Afghanistan or both. Additionally many of the APD officers are working part-time in some busy suburban communities. One wonders why the badly understaffed CPD officers wouldn't want backup? If it's because they don't want to be replaced and sent back to a district they should relax. Nobody wants to replace anyone, they just want to be able to do their job and maybe keep some innocent people from getting killed.
Could the same apply to arming all the Mall Police too?
With coddled nuts and weidos are all over the place thanks to obama and Rahm, nobody is really watching out for the normal, quiet, law abiding airport traveler or employee.
Shit, Rahm can't even get a grip on precious community criminals, he's not about to allocate resources where there not needed. He's not going to allow profiling or stopping of folks because they look, talk or act different. It's not polite and offensive to the core of our values and principles.
Jihadis are all curbside waiting, weapons spinning around baggage carousels and deranged stankies lurking in the CTA bowels.
When will it all come together is a matter of time.
The airports could do well with armed Aviation but the problem lies in the overlap of jurisdiction that creates the utter chaos.
TSA also has a space at the Armed-Unarmed table as does Rahm's Liberal Airport Commissioner.
Too many unarmed chiefs and too many unarmed injuns (is that racist still? sorry.) without any concerted coordination.
TSA/DHS or is it Aviation that runs the panic drill until FBI and CPD screws things up or is it another way around?
Perhaps CPD,TSA, FBI, DHS and Aviation should be combined as one entity with common disaster plans and protocols.
And lets not forget there's also the armed CBP at the international terminal.
Besides all the LEO agencies at the Ohare, there's a slew of politicians and dignitaries with their attachés always leaving as fast as they canfrom the cesspool known as Ciudad Santuario, Illinois.
I still have faith in the somewhat drowsy Catfish Digby Security force to man the exterior gates.
Always with a cellphone on and in hand ready to call 9-1-1 in case of an emergency.
You have it all wrong. I (thankfully) retired from the airport and can let those who misunderstand know that the Aviation "Police" are employed as security officers. This is why they are not armed. Before I am corrected, they go through the peace officer certification for the State, but do not continue with field training or street experience. Some are retired CPD, but, again, they are employed as security by the Department of Aviation and is not a recognized or certified police agency. Shame on the history that led to these security officers wearing police patches and driving around in cars marked as police. It's a huge liability and dangerously unsafe. Take off any reference to them being the police and stop the confusion before someone gets hurt.
Arm them and cancel O'Hare and midway details. No need for two police forces in the same place
You would not believe what CPDs regular lineup at O'Hare is on midnights for five terminals, runways & highway perimeter.

AH, yes another special employment for the high seniority to ruin. Sounds like a great plan...then again it doesn't. Stay fetal...no special, that's how it should be.
1 cpd officer and 1 cpd SGT; Were getting their asses kicked 2 nights ago by a offender who was breaching a security checkpoint..DOA officers were on the scene watching this event unfold...A broken cheek bone ,, A broken nose,,, and lacerations to a ear....all injuries sustained by CPD...and what did the DOA OFFICERS DO as they watched this unfold.....You guessed it rt....Absolutely Nothing..Just stood by and watched..So tell me..if they cant help or wont help another officer getting his ass kicked,,, then why in the world do they need guns....lets be real and honest...DOA you should really be embarrassed as to what you didnt do 2 nights ago...and yes you know it...what a bunch of GOOFS.
CPD is not all winners but speaking from experience the APD lot is a scary crew. Some real mushes there or wanna-bes and we would be taking bets when the first moron either pulled his gun or shot without justification.
So your saying don't bring a taser and a pen to a nut job with an AK fight???
The D.O.A. Police could always use Harsh Language to scare off the terrorists or, at the very least, point out that the airport is both a "No Gun" AND "No Explosive" Zone
and if they bring any of those inside they are subject to arrest !!!
The way i understand it the DOAPD is unarmed because of a clause or a memorandum of understanding in the FOP contract from 25-30 years ago.
This is great Barry Obama comes back to his supposedly hometown with the most murders and shootings did nothing to stem the tide:
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2017/01/10/cloud-hangs-over-obama-return-to-chicago.html
"More guns are not going to stop an attack, and might even make it worse."
What would it take for a person who says such a thing to actually see, really and truly see, how friggin STUPID that statement is.
There is only one thing that stops a bad guy who is shooting innocent people and that is a good guy with a gun who uses that gun to shoot that evil terrorist dead right where he stands.
It has always taken more guns, it will always take more guns, if stopping an active shooter is the goal. Saying something to the gun control contrary is, well, just plain ignorant. So is it intentional ignorance or just plain old laziness so deep one cannot even think for themselves about the simplest of things?
I have many best friends within the DOA police department. I would have no problem to go into battle with any of them.
Brian K. 1W 050
The Aviation SECURITY guards had no screening when hired - they're all political hires.
^^ Bullshit
""The way i understand it the DOAPD is unarmed because of a clause or a memorandum of understanding in the FOP contract from 25-30 years ago. ""
No they are unarmed because they are not a Police Dept. and the city doesnt want the liability if something happens with one of them. I have no chip on my shoulder, I retired a few years ago and tried for a SGT spot with them, a sweet gig over your pension, but I didnt have the juice and I found out a lot about them. A certificate from a training academy doesnt make you a PO , working for a Police Dept. does. Believe me I called the state when I put my app in and they are not a state certified Police Dept.
From my understanding all this started when a former CPD Boss was put in charge of Aviation security made his move to take over the airport Police functions and put Police on everything and making bold promises to the officers. Well he ended up getting shit canned which left a bunch of security officers with "Police" on everything, stars, cars, uniform, but not supposed to carry a gun and not Police Officers. I dont know how any of them are cause I never knew any but from what I did find out it was a pretty fucked up situation.
""Before offering too much criticism it might be helpful to know that more than half of the 100 officers that were hired in the last 5 years are military veterans and most had combat experience in Iraq, Afghanistan or both.""
I think those are the screwballs everyone is talking about.
""Before offering too much criticism it might be helpful to know that more than half of the 100 officers that were hired in the last 5 years are military veterans and most had combat experience in Iraq, Afghanistan or both.""
Anyone who would pull over cars as an unarmed security officer, not even knowing they are in Dupage County, probably caught a few dings to the noggin in Iraq.

Believe it or not, security officers make a contribution too. There are many, many cases where they have helped the police. In fact, one security officer out south was recently killed in the line-of-duty helping the Harvey Police Department. One of the Harvey P.D. bosses said they were treating the security officer as one of their own. That was pure class. I guess giving up your life chasing a bad guy way out on the south side does not compare with the day-to-day heroics of a CPD officer assigned to O'Hare but I think I'll give the security officer some respect anyway. RIP hero security officer.
Not a cop, but I read the blog to get the real crime news. This article is quite disturbing and deserves a thread by itself. If this passes I am fucking done with this state. I just read about some asshole that killed a pregnant girl, shot her sister and another man. Sentence was 40 but evidently he did not do the 40, got out and now killed yet another woman and shot her sister. If the fucking idiots do not see the problem then we need something drastic.

Kind of like a few cases, one being the LaQuan McDonald case. I am CPD. But we who live in glass houses should not throw stones. Or are you just that shallow that you don't understand we have had many of those same things done by CPD coppers in the last 15-20 years. Best just to keep your mouth shut, because all you did was stick your foot in it.
By the way, you won't lose your cush spot at the airport if DOA PD are armed. I understand for you it is probably very traumatic doing real police work. Your clout said they will find you a spot where you can hide and not answer any calls where you might have to be the police. Relax buttercup.

People start rumors, because they want to discredit APD. There are always bullshit rumors when CPD gets their ass handed to them at the airports. The TSA's called for CPD while chasing the offender who breached the security checkpoint. 2 CPD officers and 2 TSA's fought this idiot. DOA police, were nowhere near the incident. If they were they would have jumped in to help, as they always have in the past at both airports. At least at Midway, I know CPD and APD back each other up. At O'Hare CPD treat APD like shit and refuse to back them up or ask for their assistance. So there were 2 cpd officers and 2 TSA's who fought with this guy. Just shows you that CPD at O'Hare need to start treating APD with a little respect, instead of starting more rumors and treating them like shit. I had PO's freeze while we were fighting an offender. After it happened the second time with these 2 PO's I refused to work with them. Where did they both end up. Detailed to the airports. I backed up PO's from UIC Police and University Of Chicago Police.
You hear a rumor and it must be the truth. CPD is like a soap opera with all the bullshit rumors that constantly arise. If all shit breaks loose in a shooting incident at either airport, you would be MF'ing the city for not arming APD. When all hell is breaking loose armed police are armed police and the more on scene the better chance that the threat is taken out with as little damage as possible. So maybe start thinking with common sense instead of having the attitude that CPD is superior to APD and you never need their assitance.
No random drug testing. Enough said. They are glorified security guards
The cpd and apd get along just fine at 050.
Like anything else a few bad apples.
So disappointed to learn that apd simply watched 2 coppers getting thier ass kicked and didnt even assist in cuffing the assailant.the rumor that they didn't have hand cuffs in untrue it is simply that while holding on to the assailant they couldn't get to thier own. Stop with the name calling apd.
Ask yourself this question. If they are si well qualified and want to be the police so bad... Combine this with Chicago practically begging for qualified bodies...
Why don't all these APD officers take the CPD test and join the force? Surely they would not mind the huge bump in pay and the opportunity to work mids in the city cgasing REAL criminals right?
Nobody treats APD like shit except for APD. They are the ones who throw you out there in a Limbo status.
I'm retired now so I didnt even know any of this happened, and mind you dont give a shit. But as retired 050 I garuntee you CPD has guys who either wont go to help another, or will duck if they think something will happen, or wont help if something DOES happen, or will even say they didnt see what happened even tho THEY WERE RIGHT FUCKING IN FRONT OF IT!Or will hide so they dont have to go to it. Or wont answer the fucking radio so they dont have to go to it. Not many, but a few. As useless a couple of fucks as Ive ever seen in my life. No different then any other PD. Really no different then APD.

DOA should be disbanded. The FOP should have fought them taking away jobs from CPD.
1/10/2017 11:57:00 AM
Where have you been the last 15 years. CPD has been understaffed from 1000 officers to close to 2500 officers during that amount of time. How in the hell does anyone take jobs from CPD if we don't even have the people to fill CPD positions. Who was your clout to get on CPD. That is CPD's problem. The percentage of coppers and bosses without an ounce of common sense. With all the screw ups we have, your lucky they don't disband CPD.
There are several coppers at Midway & Ohare that go the other way when there is a job. I'm talking CPD.
Dept of Aviation security are not police. If they were, they wouldn't have officers in their 70's as the City requires mandatory retirement at 63. If they are a recognized police entity, the retired CPD would be double dipping and would end up having 2 pensions from the same employer who employed them again as police officers.
The haters need to stop hating. Woring at O'Hare isn't the retirement spot you make it out to be. It gets busy and there are not enough officers (God forbid there is a terrorist incident). There are many good, hard working officers there. There are also many dog asses who do nothing. It's not if, but when, there is a terrorist incident, so no doubt when you are watching the incident unfold on TV, you'll be thanking God you aren't there.
Half of DOA is retired CPD why all the negative remarks. I hope one day I can land that job after I leave CPD why not? lot of us still have young kids, extra money is always good. Also I do believe the rank out there are bosses from CPD.

If all of DOA were retired CPD we would not be having this conversation. The ones we are talking about hate the retired CPD as much as the rest.
Funny how they want so badly to be the REAL police but only at the airport... not in heart of the ghetto on 1st watch.
Think there is an upcoming CPD test. See if you can pass.
Most of the BS comes from a retired CPD Sgt who now thinks he's Patton in charge on the Aviation Door Guards.
The scary thing is relying on CPD for anything, including protection at the airports....look at the homicide rate this year....geez...
I have witnessed several times a DOA officer conducting a traffic stop near the airport. On 55th & 63rd streets. You gotta be nuts! No weapon and pulling over vehicles.
Crazy and frightening to know this. Arm those men and women! If they have the training and the CPD supports such a move....dang, pass out the AR-15’s!
