Golly. Three of the "Merit" Board nominators have nominees who were made "merit" in direct and egregious violation of the written directives of the Chicago Police Department. And Special Ed, sitting around waiting for a kidney (and hoping for a spine), does nothing in the face of what can only be described as blatant corruption, malfeasance and....well, cheating we guess.
But he's used to that last one.
This has been brought to the attention of the FOP and the Inspector General. You'd think a slam-dunk case of numerous Exempt members violating policy would be the subject of some sort of investigation, what with the DOJ pretty much slamming the "business as usual" practices around here, but all we're hearing is crickets.

Nothing will happen. In "Chicago Speak" "Will Not" means it is okay to break the rules without repercussions. Especially if the offender is exempt rank or a pol or family member of both. I know of 2 commanders who have made every rank legit, without merit (other than that the obvious rank of captain and up).
The thing that I find interesting is that throughout the last several rounds of promotions over the last few years, neither of these bosses had any of their picks promoted. Any they're in districts!
I'd love to see how many picks have been granted from those who have never been made merit as opposed to those who have. I'll bet the number of merits making other merits is off the charts in comparison!

FOX 32 NEWS - A dozen Chicago SWAT officers have been suspended for a critical mistake during a barricade situation.
It was a volatile situation that unfolded on Chicago's Southeast Side December 1st. The Commander of the 4th District, Noel Sanchez, was working in the 8800 block of South Sanginaw when his unmarked police car was shot at and the suspects had run into a nearby home.
A barricade situation ensued and the SWAT team was called out to secure the situation and try to talk the offenders into surrendering.
12 Chicago SWAT officers suspended for critical mistake made during barricade situation
For five hours tensions ran high, but finally police were able to end the situation peacefully and take several people into custody.
SWAT officers then went through the home to make sure there was no one else inside and then left after determining the situation and the home was all clear.
The problem was they did not search the home thoroughly enough. Police told FOX 32 that there were actually two people still hiding in a crawl space inside the home. They were discovered when police officers from the 4th District went into the home after SWAT left.
Had the men been armed, other officers could potentially have been shot. For that critical mistake, 12 SWAT officers received one day suspensions without pay and were required to be retrained.
Police say the reprimands were handed down two to three weeks ago and the officers involved have already served their suspensions.
Five people were arrested in that situation and several guns confiscated.

12 Chicago SWAT officers suspended for critical mistake made during barricade situation
If that situation went down as the news release says it did, those SWAT officers are fortunate that they received ONLY one day suspensions. Those guys aren't supposed to make mistakes like that (but neither is any other officer in the CPD).
(Rahm your office again? Eddie if they are coppers you have more leaks at hq most likely exempts trying to embarrass you)

Handle uptown? He's been assigned as a foot guy up there forever, but I never saw him up there. Ever! Ask him to post his activity if he claims to be a working copper.

The problem is there were/are a handful of ghost cars/ghost posts
in Uptown who hid and did nothing while the guys assigned to
1914 were run ragged with handling the Uptown crazy.
It's surprising that there hasn't been a real Police involved
tragedy in Uptown with all the unmedicated crazy going on.
SWAT is in bad shape. Bring in new leadership. Get rid of the Lt and the Sgts.
Pena was on the LT interview board

In regards to Kevin graham being a worker
Kevin is a nice guy. He has never been a worker. Workers do not seek out foot posts.
Furthermore, no one has ever been run ragged working in uptown. You might have a full moon once in a while and be busy then. If you think that is busy you obviously have never worked in a ghetto district.
