I was partners with that lady for five years and she told me she knew no one and didn't have any whack. The list certainly suggests otherwise. It's the Shit that happens inside Ya really worry about and the people of the street want to kill Ya. Convoluted at best
Wow there are some real winners on that list! Congratulations to those that earned it. To the merit picks, sorry guys but none of you earned anything other than chapped lips and sore knees.
Finally a merit spot that pays off BG from 025 is an extremely hard working copper who's always been on 1st watch. Helped out any copper who needed help. He has no connections on this job and earned it with hard work. Restores my faith a tiny bit in the merit process that a working copper can make it.
Congratulations to the new detectives! Not many turn this job down, Several turned down sergeant. This is still the best job around next to field lieutenant. 232 new detectives headed to the D-Unit and another group in the fall.🎉
Frank Savage? Come on Bob!!! Really? Isn't he buddies with the tact Lt you dumped? You know, right after you had theXO launched? If you can't pass out, then throw others under bus! Your within your capabilities now, checking radios, coward
Seven murdered and fifteen wounded yesterday. And our mayor's only concern is transgendered bathrooms. Black aldermans call for changes in the police collective bargaining contract to cull " racism and violence" from CPD. Priorities I guess. Or so called leadership.
the truth be told. One exam given in just a few short hours is so important it is the only determinant to determine a promotion. The bar for first portion is so low to include everyone and the score from the multiple choice portionis not included in the overall score. With the non disclosure is subject matter experts and numerous reports of cheating by leaked testing materials, the whole promotional process is tainted. By the way, the difference in ranking by a hundred spots can be as little as correctly furnishing just one more "most correct" answer than everyone else.
Bottom line, everything you have accomplished day in and day out means nothing. Lots of boss's drivers, desk personnel and watch secretaries will now get a bump in pay without recent arrest police expected activity or even state law mandated experience as cinematic experts with body cameras. Actual application of police work means nothing, but conceptual police work conducted during a four segment is the determinaning criteria for promotions. And bragging rights!
The radio this morning just designated Wednesday as the the most deadly day so far this year with 7 dead and 15 or so wounded on the south and west sides. It's February, so what is in store for the rest of the year?
What are those Deplorables or elected officials doing? Focusing attention on transgender bathrooms, providing legal protections for those who circumvented established immigration protocols, attacking due process rights for those are stuck cleaning up the mess everyday while doing police functions in uniform and calling for greater participation of the middle class by collecting ever increasing amounts of their take home pay to fund all this hot mess.
But help is on the way. More homicide detectives will provide much needed relief to the south and west sides. Homicide death murders will most certainly addressed appropriately by those who high scorers. Recent promotees will provide real world street and cook county court experience tilting the violence equation and the scales of justice in favor of the good guys. Fresh faces, fresh talent with bold strategic innovative strategies by the newbie detectives will solve once and for all the violence conundrum. Now if we can just form a grass roots coalition between recently promoted detectives, the black robes and the states attorney's office to advocate a hate free, diverse community for all.
LS from 193, you have to be kidding me. Her partner must be fuming. She knows her partner did all the work while she played on Facebook. Complete joke.
A well informed source told me that his buddy was talking to a DOJ member at a Christmas party and he told him that the city was going to make 4 Detective Classes of 100-150 in 2017. So far we have two down with two to go!! This source may be pretty reliable. Lets keep our fingers crossed!!
Everyone is so quick to congratulate the so called "list earners". The sad thing is that in this city, as absolutely corrupt as it is, there is A LOT of names on the list that made it by "score". These are names of people who couldn't pass a 1st grade spelling test if they tried. But all of a sudden their really smart individuals who just happened to totally change their studying habits????... Not in this piece of shit department and city.

I don't know this guy, but even if he is a hard worker who always helped out other coppers there is another hard worker who always helps out other coppers AND PASSED THE TEST who got screwed out of a promotion due to your merit buddy.
When you need a detective request your merit friend, I'll take the detective that passed the exam.
At least so far 200+ didn't have to wait on a 10 year old list (7 years if you eliminate all the 20% Merits). Rahm could be ready by now to cut off the DOJ spigot, the quota seems to have been met. FOP Candidates won't mention any negioations in their vote for me letters, but I'd certainly like to hear that they won't stipulate to no more than10% Merits and by Merit I mean Duty Related Merit, NOT house bound Mon-Fri daytime paper shufflers.
With nearly 3 decades on this job I notice some serious nepotism going on. You can't hide from your own last name. But please, don't even THINK I'm going to give a fuck and follow the orders of the annointed ones. There should be a minimum standard of having at least 50 honorable mentions and 1 department commendation in order to be promoted meritoriously. Then maybe, just maybe, there might be some respect toward the people getting promotions.

I was informed by my pharmacy that my prescription plan no longer covers 2 prescriptions I need to take daily for health issues. One medication went from 10 dollars a month to 739.00 a month. Thanks again Disability Dean for screwing us, really appreciate it. By the way I had both shoulders reconstructed and I work the street every day.

LB---a merit pick and a know it all. So smart in fact that he requests a supervisor on every job he over escalates by running his mouth to take accountability off of himself. Complete hand job. Hopefully goes back inside to in-service training as he is useless on the street otherwise. Unless you want to hear his old saturation stories. Yawn.

BG is a working copper and a damn good one at that. Gives some hope the merit process that a street smart cop is being promoted to dic.
I can't believe the number of people with 4 years and less on these list. Scary...
Coppers with 4 years and less now make up for about 20% of the department and will only continue to grow obviously. Why are there so many you ask? Hmmm...how about all the hiring freezes during the Daley administration on top of the bull shit rahm tried to pull with his "1.000 cops on the street" shenanigans. So thanks to to that...you'll now have some 3 year guy investigating your cases. Can't blame them either though. If the qualifier is 3 years and they do well on the test do you expect them to turn it down and wait for the next dicks test? It's a double edged sword created by politicians in power. I for one am not hating on these young kids getting these spots.
Finally a merit spot that pays off BG from 025 is an extremely hard working copper who's always been on 1st watch. Helped out any copper who needed help. He has no connections on this job and earned it with hard work. Restores my faith a tiny bit in the merit process that a working copper can make it.

Wow hater. Some coppers might be 200-300 and received merit. Just because they did not make it right off the top 100-200 does not mean they are not going to be good detectives. You think all cops on this job have street smarts? I'm pretty sure a lot of top scorers do not
Will someone please post the assignments of the new merit and list sergeants and detectives. It should be worth a few laughs to see where certain people get assigned.
I can't believe the number of people with 4 years and less on these list. Scary...

Yes, passing a test makes you a great detective
2/24/2017 12:48:00 PM
No, but it will make you a detective. If you missed that part you are not a great detective.
DL and ND are two of the biggest goofs in this department. The D unit definitely will not tolerate both of your lack of maturity. DL maybe you can wear better clothes now.

Well that's because you're an idiot! I would take the guy that got promoted based off his ability to do this job than some 25 year old kid who just moved out of his parents house but passed a test. So tell me again, who do you want on your shooting scene? You can contemplate that during your federal lawsuit because the detective fucked up the scene!

Fully agree have to fight to get basic prescription filled, changed many rahm also completely took away retirees health care, now he is ruining active coppers insurance as he gives millions in Chicago taxpayers property tax rebate money to protect illegal invading criminals! Talk about corruption!
I can't believe the number of people with 4 years and less on these list. Scary...
Yeah, real scary that that guys with 10, 15 or 20 years can't outscore guys with 4! What does that say about the 20 year guys who couldn't pass the test?
wonder how deep they will go on the list...
Scott Pietryla--Great Cop and Great Guy. Congratulations!! Hope your half as good as your "Old Man"!!!
MS
He is a great guy. Super nice and extremely humble but didn't he always work the desk? That's neither here nor there, great guy and he got it by score. I'm sure he will succeed, has a great head on his shoulders... very large shoulders that is. And big head, it's kinda like a St. Bernard. I kid I kid!

I'm long retired but worked with hid dad an old school cpd homicide detective and also a great guy. I remember him talking about his kid. Congratulations to both Pietrylas. I'm sure Scott will be in the same mold as his dad.
Yawn.
There is some truth to this post.
Well if they are dumb and couldn't pass a 1st grade spelling test then if you didn't score high enough then what does that make you????? Enough of the conspiracy theories ya pud. No doubt you're one of the following, a gun nut, a wanna be doomsday prepper, a birther and 9-11 inside job believer or you are one of these idiots who wears tactical pants everywhere and drives a keep that looks like it's ready to roll into combat. I'm guessing you fill in one of those catagories because most boner coppers on this job are into that stuff. I'm sure u fight right in. Now study harder next time little boy and stop playing with all your tactical toys.
Wow , you sound a lot more bitter than the original post. Meds

Really??
I don't know this guy, but even if he is a hard worker who always helped out other coppers there is another hard worker who always helps out other coppers AND PASSED THE TEST who got screwed out of a promotion due to your merit buddy.
When you need a detective request your merit friend, I'll take the detective that passed the exam.

Well I'm going to try and work in CAPS or commanders
Office. After that I will buy coffee and kiss butt till I get promoted. Thank you
Finally a merit spot that pays off BG from 025 is an extremely hard working copper who's always been on 1st watch.

Congratulations SP from 10. Great copper and a smart guy.

Because most of us are / were on the sgts list........unlike 3,4,5 yr people we have learned that working harder is not the answer. Good luck detectives....most of you are gonna really EARN that blood $$$$
BR congrats buddy, way to get it done!

Lmao, yeah being on the Sgt's list stops you from passing the detectives test. That sounds legit. And who are you to tell anybody how to earn?
With the FOP election coming up, just remember not to vote for Dean. We got screwed on Healthcare on the last contract. The Tier system is awful. Also your prescription insurance covers nothing. I was informed by my pharmacy that my prescription plan no longer covers 2 prescriptions I need to take daily for health issues. One medication went from 10 dollars a month to 739.00 a month. Thanks again Disability Dean for screwing us, really appreciate it. By the way I had both shoulders reconstructed and I work the street every day
Enjoy your retro!!!! Lol!
