Crime is Down!!!
- Two men were killed and four were wounded in a shooting Sunday afternoon in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side, according to Chicago Police.
At 4:33 p.m., they were standing in a group in the 3500 block of West Van Buren when a white, four-door sedan pulled up and multiple people got out and started shooting, according to Chicago Police. The vehicle might have been a Chevrolet Impala.
Two of the men, ages 27 and 23, were shot in the chest and taken to Stroger Hospital, where they were pronounced dead, police said. Their identities were not released.
A 23-year-old man was shot in the back; a 24-year-old man was shot in the chest, back and leg; and a man in his 20s was shot in the chest, police said. They were all taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital.
In fact, crime is sooooo down, the "community" has to shoot people (or folks) six at a time just to keep up. This was the tail end of a spate of shootings today, accounting for around three dead and another ten or more wounded. Check HeyJackass.com for the stats.

OT A few weeks ago during the Ottawa tornado, NBC Byron Maranda was in the Channel 5 Storm Chaser car running around Ottawa. Miranda pulls up and bellows sometime to the effect: I am with Chan 5 weather can we get inside, I am also an Oakland police officer......? Well he tried that twice and didn't get in... Should have been arrested.
FYI: He was an Oakland CA Police officer for about 6 months but quit because he didn't like it.

This could have been prevented if officers would have just conducted an anti-violence traffic mission for seat belts or something. Untold shootings and murders have been averted by Comstat modeled traffic missions. The officers could have generated activity by filling out a blue Traffic Statistical Study card making violence a thing of the past. (The TSS card was introduced by then honorable Illinois senator O'bama to statistically reinforce a progressive ideological falsehood that police act stupidly by profiling residents committing trivial traffic transgressions in violence plagued areas.)
That is of course if the driver actually stopped their vehicle in compliance of the law like everyone else. Homey don't play that. Isn't it just a matter of semantics? Think about this proposal: suppose that in addition to compiling the fatalities and homicides, what if we also checked the prior arrests and convictions of the dearly departed ones?
If a mass shooting resulted in the deaths of assorted felons, could we not keep a running tally of criminals who are no longer on the streets?

Why are you on SWAT then? Didn't you volunteer? You knew there was no extra pay or a take home car? You were given a phone to answer in case of call outs. What did you expect? SWAT can get called out 24/7. Don't you get punished for not answering your SWAT phone? If I was your Sgt, I would spar you and make sure you were thrown off the team. I think you are the problem and not the SWAT team. Sounds to me like you just wanted to wear the cool uniform. Par forms are free.

The fact is, it is unreasonable to expect a SWAT member to respond to an emergency in his personal vehicle. If you get into a crash rushing to an incident, the city is not going to pay for your car or anyone you hurt, including yourself. You are not in an authorized emergency vehicle. If they city wants us to get there with all of our gear, then a take home car is the only way. You're nuts if you think I leave all of my gear in my personal vehicle while off duty. This city makes me reside here - remember? Which means that although I live in a nice district, I am not leaving several thousand dollars of equipment in a car that has already been broken into. I will, however, leave it in a take home car with the appropriate locking trunk safe. And I will drive said car to an incident efficiently and put my training to use.
But don't say it's guys on the team who don't care about other coppers. You have only the city to blame. And don't worry about why I joined the team. Maybe it was to get the training to pad my resume for when I lateral over to a better paying suburban department where I would get a response car or at the very least not have to live in this cesspool city. You know, somewhere where I can actually send my kids to the public schools for my tax dollars.
Maybe before you start using the word bitch you should stop being this department's bitch. Right is right and wrong is wrong. I'm not required to bring that phone home. They're not required to give me a car. Fair on both sides.
