Bond Revoked....but

Guess who the judge is blaming? Not the guy trafficking guns:
  • A federal judge on Wednesday blasted prosecutors, but still revoked bond for a man charged with selling military-style rifles used by gang members that opened fire on Chicago Police officers in a May shooting.

Charles Williams had been free since late July 5 on $4,500 bond on a gun trafficking charge after getting caught selling a handgun to a Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms informant.

But last week, after police sources complained to the Chicago Sun-Times that Williams was the source of the weapon used in a May 2 shooting in the Back of the Yards that wounded two CPD officers, prosecutors sought to have Williams held without bond.

Wednesday, Assistant U.S. Attorney Kavitha Babu got what she wanted— Williams was led out of the courtroom by marshals— but U.S. Magistrate Judge Young Kim made it clear that it was not because he believed Williams was a danger to society if he remained free. In fact, the judge said, the government had put Williams’ life in danger.
That's right...it's all the government's fault:
  • “I think what the government did here was wrong. You placed Mr. Williams and his family in danger,” Kim said, as Williams longtime girlfriend, seated by the pair’s daughter, sobbed.

“Unfortunately, given your public filing” which named Williams as a source for guns for the La Raza street gang, “Mr. Williams’ presence in his house does pose a danger to his family and any bystanders,” Kim said.

“I can’t have it on my hands that because of what the government did that Mr. Williams is going to be killed or that his family will be in the way and will be killed as bystanders.”
Maybe if he wasn't passing guns along to people/folks who kill without compunction, his family wouldn't be in danger. But he made his choices, and if the music coming his way isn't to his liking, too damn bad. A lot of officers weren't happy that the gang shot up a van with two cops inside either.

Actually the judge is correct, and within the law. The prosecutors acted wrongly. The accused is innocent until proven guilty.

Unreal. I went to start the process to get my record expunged, went to 35th to get my rap sheet. 8 cops armed to the teeth practically jumped me saying there is a active warrant for me. I look down at the paper, clearly it was a mistake. My probation did not clear. The cops arresting me were empathic but informed me that there is nothing they can do. They have to arrest me and let County deal with. Okay fine. I get to County. Expecting to just explain to the attorney to simply ask my probation officer who sits across the fucking hall to check my status. Ignored. The judge gives me a no bond status immediately. The next day the judge who was on my case curses me out in the courtroom. Still no one calls the probation officer and still no bond. Had to spend money to get a private attorney just so he could walk across hall and talk to the probation officer. After two weeks I was released. No apology and was told fuck you, you cannot sue. We just made a mistake. Day I get arrested I was supposed to go on a job interview then see my kids. So whatever they are doing now in County is not how it went down for me. This was 5 years ago. Maybe because I can read and write and my pants are not sagging.

Who was the public filing suppose to name John Doe, Mickey Mouse? What a fucking idiot this judge is.

Glad his bond was revoked.

Maybe all the criminals in Crook County Jail should be released cuz their families might be in danger. Oh Dart and Foxx are already taking care of that.

Sounds like the judge is pissed that he was publicly outed for granting low bond to a defendant who SELLS GUNS TO A VIOLENT STREET GANG.

..........this judge is carrying on like the "associates" of this individual would have never known about his duplicity were it not for the public indictment. Believe me.........they have intelligence sources better than this judge. Talk about out of touch - what kind of cases does he usually hear?

Sounds like there must have been a lot of blow back on the judge for the originally low bond and he had to blame someone else for his misjudgment. Who appointed him to the bench? Hasn't he heard that these gun dealers are a MAJOR part of the problem driving the violence around town?

Memo to US AG Sessions: How do concerned citizens remove US Magistrate Young Kim? We realize that the previous administration appointed this biased individual - but we need your help. Her recent actions demonstrate that she is unfit to serve.

Proof that some judges are too stupid or crazy to make a living chasing ambulances like other lawyers, so they use family or friends to get appointed to the bench!

OT - Looks like Dart the Fart realizes that he's in hot water. He announced that after "studying" five months of statistics reflecting the bonds set on gun offenders, that judges should be able to hold repeat gun offenders without bond! So now the same dufus who let gun offenders out on EM wants the judges to have discretion with gun offenders?
The casual observer can quickly realize that by the merely reading SCC for five months would show that Dart is the problem. Not only reporters plagarize your work, the Lord High Sheriff does, too.

Ah sorry but maybe if Williams gets shot in the ass he won't be running guns to the gang bangers any more. My guess he sells to all sides anyways. There isn't a lot of loyalty on the streets out there. These guys go wherever the money is, that is why they're all killing each other. If we follow the judges logic here no one should be named in any crime so that their identity can be hidden so they are safe from retribution. These criminal acts have consequences and these criminals need to realize this. Stopping blaming police and prosecutors for ruining the criminal's lives. They're doing a fine job all on their own.

Judge got outted and is now pissed. Too bad you fucked up $4,500.00 bond for selling assault rifles on the street to kids that are killing eachother or in this case trying to kill police officers and your mad at the prosecutor, that's laughable. Do your job and put this thug in jail. You feel bad about his family let them move into your north shore house with you!

Does this "judge" make these kind of statements often? I'm sure Obama would be proud.

"Who appointed him to the bench?"
=====================================================================
I am sure that was a rhetorical question because I would bet everyone is thinking that he was appointed by Pres Obama. If you thought that, you would be correct. He was appointed in 2010. Plus once you see his background, all of this makes sense:

He received his law degree from Loyola University of Chicago School of Law (1991). Judge Kim began his legal career as an Assistant Public Defender in Cook County, working in various misdemeanor courtrooms and in the Domestic Violence Division.

---------------

Actually, the judge can use all kinds of information -- including new information about an accused's criminal background or current criminal activity -- to set bond.

I am guessing that the judge is giving the prosecutor's office way too much credit. I mean, I'd be impressed if they did it that way on purpose!

And I can't imagine it's Constitutional for a judge to revoke someone's bond on the basis that the government (i.e. prosecutor) screwed up. But whatever!

So the judge revoked his bond because at home he's at risk of being killed and puts his family in danger, because of the prosecutors?! How the hell is that a legit legal explanation for revoking bail? Justice reform starts with the ability to civilly sue judges. That spin is absolutely nuts. The judge should be removed from the bench.
