MORE Taxes!!!

Remember, you have to contribute to the "fiscal well being" of Chicago. But not these clowns:
  • Beleaguered Chicago property owners face yet another massive hit for teacher pensions, but their aldermen would escape another difficult vote — thanks to the school funding deal on its way to Gov. Bruce Rauner.

That bill — approved by lawmakers this week — authorizes the Chicago Board of Education to impose a property-tax hike without going to the City Council.
Wasn't there a war fought over something like this? "Taxation without Representation" or something similar?
  • Although Chicago homeowners are still reeling from the $588 million property tax increase he pushed through the City Council for police, fire and teacher pensions, Mayor Rahm Emanuel made no apologies for piling on.

“I’ve never, ever said that we were not going to also come up with the resources to make sure our schools were well funded, and we were investing in them,” Emanuel said Tuesday.
When is enough actually enough for taxpayers?

And Rahm is going to blame us for wanting a raise to keep up with the substandard schools that can't even graduate 75% of its students to read at an 8th grade level.

The Channel 7 news said that bill sponsors contend that this bill will alleviate ALL funding disparities in public education, so that means they'll NEVER have to tackle this "problem" again, right? It also means that standardized test scores in these "afflicted" neighborhoods will now rise to acceptable levels, right? It also means ALL city schools will be the same educationally, right? I'm so glad that we've alleviated the education problem in Ill-Annoy!

Soon the only people in Chicago will be the poor living from government handouts, the very rich that don't worry about costs, and the city workers trying to hold onto their jobs and pensions. Detroit here we come!

Chicago property taxes are about 1/3rd the rate of the rest of the state.
Chicago property owners keep returning Organized Crime to political office, dominating the state of Illinois. We downstaters are really tired of Chicago's voters screwing us via their unwavering idiocy in favor of anything "D."

Maybe it's time Chicago property owners bore the costs they impose on the rest of Illinoisans (by their brain-dead, knee-jerk support of the Madigan/Cullerton/demoncrat Outfit.)

Another 2 1/2% increase brings the total since 2015 to a whopping 34 1/2% property tax increase. And that on top of all the other taxes and fee's that have been hiked lately.

But the pro-residency crowd tucked into the northwest and southwest sides of the city will tell this is what you "knew" when you "took" the job. And that any compromise on this issue, say even proposing a 20 year limit, or any limit at all is completely unacceptable to them.

Oh well, if thats still the case this round of contract negotiations then be prepared to lose many or most of the job protections we enjoy in our contract as a result this time because the media and "community" will crucify Rahm if he doesn't stick it to us and we refuse to deploy the most powerful negotiating toll at our disposal

As long as it is "for the children"...They should call it what it is..."more money for dumber kids"...in public schools your kids will only get as smart as the weakest link. And the weakest link is very weak. Send them to private schools if you have a conscience...

I once knew a copper who separated from his wife, so she could live in the suburbs and send their kids to better schools. Not exactly ideal, but effective.

Again CPS has no rules!! more teachers live outside the city and use city addresses with no enforcement of the residency rule. Also new rules on CPS discipline /restorative justice =no suspension loss of funds also the rising scores and graduation rates equal to no homework and passing everyone ( Ask your family and friends who work for CPS ) Nothing to see here kids move along. Also wise up people when your children are denied enrollment at a select enrollment school see how many staffs family member are at enrolled at those schools. Compare list selection number verses enrollment . FOIA can help you with this. Start condensing school building that are not full to save tax payers a vast wasteland.

LOL, "investing in them". That's politician speak for: 'Hold onto your wallets, we're gonna spend a shitload of your money on 'X'.'

It's funny -- not ha-ha funny, but sick funny -- that the government is the ONLY entity that can 'invest' in something and LOSE money on that 'investment' every goddamned time.

It's even 'funnier' -- again, not the ha-ha kind -- that not a single one of these politicians are embarrassed by their lousy track record on 'investing'. To the contrary, they're even proud of it, saying that they didn't initially 'invest' (spend) enough money on 'X'. That the first time they only 'invested' (SPENT) a 'Boatload' of money on 'X'. And now they need an additional 'Shitload' of money to make 'X' work, they promise with a straight face.

I don't know which politician first used the Orwellian Newspeak term, 'invest', when they meant 'Spend', but whomever it was they should find out, dig up their bones, and toss them into the nearest Garbage Dump with the rest of the trash.

When the financial crisis hit in 2008, private sector workers lost their jobs, those that did not did not get any raises and many had their hours cut. Not so for Cook County workers and school teachers in Chicago. No one lost their jobs, new hires were made and everyone got raises. That is where most of the public budget goes. Yes, Chicago teachers, working in a failing system producing failing students who when trying to go onto college struggle mightily and cannot compete.

Yeah taxes are a high, but all that live in Chicago with "Chicago values" and a large percentage of people that need to be supported by your paying taxes,.... well someone needs to pay. Big salaries for city and county workers etc cost money.
My parents exited Chicago in the early 1990's. So pay up and enjoy the ride. I will watch from a nice place on the Emerald Coast. ex Marquette Park person.

Now that we're finally corralling that silly 1st amendment bs pretty soon it'll be illegal to speak about any tax or tax policy in other than glowingly PC terms. You'll even get a list of "acceptable" tax phrases you can use without fear of state/city/county retribution like the destruction of your career & tearing apart of your family since Daddy is now a worthless unemployable, black-listed dawg that can't support nobody...

so enough with the sodie pop penny HOSTILITY....shape up or ship outta Rahmista Wonderland, ya ingrates.... just kick back roll up a dubey & rejoice is Nazicratism :) oh, & make sure your daughters learn to embrace all varieties of recreational drugs it'll make their mandatory participation in "group sports" alot less painful....lol, especially "back there" ol'fashion "down there" is sooooooo passe nowadays

and hey, don't blame me, I know the score. I've seen'em "run the plays" outta the Alinskyite Playbook. Them plays work every time... so get ready: Wash, Rinse, Spin, Repeat

and when the orders come down from on high to go out to aid & assist your local Hitler Youth nazicrats, you know, the ones with the really really cool black clothes & face masks (everything made from renewable resources for sure) ya better wade into them evil feeble old white senior citizens in their walkers & canes & start wailing away or else sumtin' bad might happen to yer pension rights or is that pension rites ?

Just in case you haven't figured out which "Criminals" your political masters want you to pinch & imprison... The courts & DA's are ready but they're getting impatient waiting on youse guys to furnish them the "right" raw material to crunch into dust :) yeah, yer very own granma & granpaw's are the enemies in the nazicrats new way of doing things

Do you realize that all of the stories you read about workers *i.e.-teachers, streets and san, et al. - are planted by Mr. Rahm himself? Just like every time the subject of Police Contracts are discussed, a rogue cop is outed for something? This is what he does: he pits you against them, and vice-versa. The truth is that Rahm does not give a shit about me, you, the poor kids in the schools, or the poor teachers in the schools running daycare for seniors in high school. That is how people like him stay in power: they pit each and everyone of us against one another. If you can't see that, you may as well pull the pin and retire to somewhere else, because as a real Chicagoan, you are letting a carpet-bagger from Winnetka win. Please, don't be so fucking stupid. The world is bigger than St. Pat's or St. Rita, but by spitting out these bullshit stories about bad actors, this little asshole Mayor (and New Trier grad) is spurring you into turning against other working men and women you have more in common with, and dividing the vote that much further. A vote against one person - any person that we can all agree on - is a vote to get rid of this little fucking monster on the 5th Floor. And for that, we all have to stand together whether we are white, black, brown or asian. Please, re-consider your stance. Please. He is a narcissistic asshole with sociopathic tendencies and we need to get rid of him. Don't fall for the bait.
