Watch Yourselves

Rahm is going on and on about "fiscal well being." So why are we getting letters and hearing about these cases?
  • An officer recently returned to duty now has a CL/CR number lodged against him for a bumper sticker on his personal car;
  • three or more officers detailed to callback for social media posts;
While this stupidity was going on, the  Department suffered another officer suicide this week. We don't see a break on the horizon with the COPA roll out coming up shortly. In fact, we see a significant uptick coming that will only reinforce the "fetality" in the Department and that might wake up the thickest of the thick-headed that interacting with the public in any manner aside from an assigned job is a losing proposition.

How is Rahm going to afford these payouts?

It is simply a matter of administrative convenience that Rahm has a deputy voter registrar present whenever an undeserved settlement check is issued to a dubious claimant.

Don't do social media.

Notice how it is "Free?"

You are not the customer, you are the PRODUCT being sold. What is being sold? Your links, your political beliefs, your friendships, your purchasing history, every thought and belief.

What happens when Mark Zuckerberg's Facebook algorithms decide you are a Nazi, and warns the world about your racist, sexist, homophobic self? Think Rahm and the CPD would stand behind you?

Social media accounts ought not to be under your name, if they are - don't use a middle initial, set up a bogus email account to tie it to (don't use that account for anything else other than that social media account verification), and don't put your picture as your "avatar", no pics of you or the family either.

Comment away - but don't give investigators and schmucks anything to go on when they try to find the face behind the name.

That's why the Lt.'s union, the Sgt.'s union and FOP have said that with the ongoing contract "negotiations" that the only thing the city wants to discuss is ramped up discipline. The city doesn't want to discuss anything else.

That's how Rahm is being fiscally responsible: taking money out of our pockets through suspensions for the most ridiculous and petty things.

"Three or more officers detailed to callback over social media posts." I am confident without knowing the full details that these officers have full heads of hair, managed with copious amounts of hair gel! These lads probably grew up texting and on social media. Most even have "Ink"! Understand clearly, we are living in a Place and Time where the First Amendment to the Constitution is being challenged. Freedom of Speech is redefined by those who would deny it to us, claiming that the First Amendment does not apply to "Hate Speech". In European Union nations Totalitarian Leftists have defined Hat Speech as virtually anything that objects to their beliefs regarding Race, Homosexuality and Socialism. And Europeans who violate Hate Speech laws are being incarcerated! An example of this irony, is seen in the case of the Free Speech Movement at Berkeley, where Free Speech is suppressed if it is not THEIR idea of Free Speech. So in Berkeley, you are shut down from speaking, or you are beaten, by an allegedly anti-fascist group of thugs, who act like Fascists! (Now here I can use the word "thug" because most of these fascists are White. If I used the word Thug referring to generic criminal conduct, I would be considered Racist!) Coppers need to realize, that the Elitist Leftists Politicians like Rahm and his Clinton Mentors, have merged with Black Racists. This coalition almost took total control of the nation last November. However, they do maintain control in the Peoples Republic of Cook County which includes "Shticaga". Remember the old, but still valid adage: "We are Prisoners of what we say, and Masters of what we do not say." Do Absolutely Nothing more than answer your calls. If you play Police, you will be punished & fired. Baby "G"

You would think here in a country that was founded on the very premise of individual liberty and freedoms that this whole issue would be virtually nonexistent. The fact that mere social posts or bumper stickers are now being used as cause for discipline is reminiscent of the old Nazi gestapo who would arrest and silence anyone who did not promote Hitler's agenda. Looks like history starting to repeat itself again. I would bet a paycheck that these officers who are being targeted had messages of a more conservative nature. The administration wouldn't touch them with a 10 foot pole had it been a BLM sticker, or liberal propaganda that was posted. That is biased, accusatory, and unconstitutional. Your opinions off duty are your own, period. If you want to display them via stickers, social posts, banners, etc. you should be free to do so. I understand we maintain a certain neutrality as being part of our professional conduct while in uniform and acting as an officer of the law. That does not equate to being a second class citizen with less rights than those we protect.

I can vouch that a "not correct in thought" bumper sticker can cause problems as one fine morning before daylight I was gifted with an expired tag ticket. What was amusing was she could not see the year sticker from her vehicle due to the vehicle parked behind me, but she sure could see the "Ex Democrat" bumpersticker on the driver's side.

That was worth two tickets, both wrong, but the price for being "not correct".

We will not revert to those days." Sounds like a personal agenda to me , and it should to you. They do not like us and will fire you for NOTHING. But the one that should show the Boards total animosity and hostility, toward us is 16 PB 2913 the Officer who becomes intoxicated and places his gun in his mouth and said maybe I should kill himself. The board with absolutely NO compassion or concern for the Officers well being, instead of recommending health care and counselling The Board charges the Officer with four rule violations "bringing discredit upon the Department" "Making a false report" "intoxication on or off duty" "Unlawful or unnecessary display of a weapon" They then recommend he be fired from his job. Let's speak about the pressure the department puts on officers and how Human Resources needs step to the plate. This department refuses to truly address the huge number of suicides on the department. They want this to stay quiet. The department and union need to do something now. This is getting out of hand and I personally know two officers who have been struggling for the last 3 years and 1 year. One officer is on leave and in no pay status and the other is on the street. Both officers have a great history of achievements and awards on the job with no more then a couple CR numbers. Neither officer has had any discipline issues or behavior problems. The union has left one officer completely hanging in limbo and has only made this officers situation worse. I plead that mental health is addressed openly on this blog.
Officers are working hard every day and risking themselves for the well being of the City and its reputation. This issue needs to be addressed now before we lose anymore of our brothers and sisters in blue. Mayor Emanuel this starts with you and the elected officals to address Mental Health in the Chicago Police department. We need changes in Human Resources now. Not only do the citizens of Chicago have rights but the police officers who risk themselves everyday for he good of Chicago have rights. We can not remain silent. The city cannot remain silent about suicide in the Chicago Police department. The department and City have a obligation and duty to address this if they truly want to improve the police department. Healthy officers who serve the City only improve the service the residents of Chicago receive from the front line of protection. Police officers need support from the city. These are the worst times for Police Officers in Chicago. Our officers are struggling and the media and department are doing everything possible to prevent this from being addressed.

VERY VERY TRUE!

Good point. The CPDs employee assistance program has only a handful of people in it. This shows how little the CPD cares about its officers. Officers are committing suicide and turning to alcohol or other bad habits now more than ever to cope with this overwhelmingly hostile environment that comes from inside the dept. and outside. PTSD is a major problem for CPD that most members don't talk about. The superintendent put out a message awhile ago encouraging members to ask for help if they're going through a difficult time yet he refuses to bring on more staff members at the EAP. It only makes the dept. better to have its members more healthy mentally and physically yet the CPD laughs at the struggles of its members. And cops bringing their personal problems and family problems to work taking out their unresolved issues on other cops is prevalent too. Too many cops with skeletons in their closets spreading lies about other cops. Take notice of people who can't keep their traps shut, they're the ones with the most unresolved problems. It's a toxic environment and people are dying and living in misery because of it.

"Right, because the officer is fit for duty. Show compassion and hide the officer in a do nothing spot. You are asking for a lawsuit when the officer hurts someone. I am blessed to work with people like you. Yu make me look so smart. "

Obviously he's not ready to be put back on the street. He is sick right now and needs professional care, just like if you broke your leg, or had cancer, (should you be immediately fired) He should at least be given his contractual right to be on the Medical role and treatment for a year. Then a decision could be made. You just want to use him up and throw him away.
You show an abysmal ignorance about CPD mental health and suicide in the Chicago Police. Let's speak about the pressure the department puts on officers and how Human Resources needs step to the plate. This department refuses to truly address the huge number of suicides on the department. So you really don't look so smart in fact you sound pretty ignorant of the big picture

Right, because getting sick or breaking a bone is the same as showing a reckless disregard for the safety of people. I have news for you dim with (ignoramus), employers are not charitable institutions. You make me look really smart.

If you get it, no explanation is necessary, If you don't ( as is in your case) No explanation is POSSIBLE, No you are not smart, you really don't get it. Notice I did not resort to insulting name calling as you did. That's always a sign you have lost your argument . Hope you read the contract and you never get sick. Look up the word compassion in the dictionary, (if you can read)

Right, you are not getting it. DoucheBag, yea, practice your reading skills on that. Official Misconduct trumps your contract. Official Misconduct and the employer's duty to the citizens trump your dictionary. You probably have a GED. And my reading skills are fine--evidenced by a few professional certifications. Again, Ignoramus....
