- A man tried to pull a 62-year-old woman into a car in the South Loop neighborhood Sunday night, but she was able to fight him off, police said.
The woman was in the 200 block of West 19th street around 7:40 p.m. when the man parked a beige, four-door sedan near her while she stood on the sidewalk, police said in a community alert. The man got out of the car, grabbed the woman from behind and covered her mouth, police said.

The alert described the man as between 20 and 30 years old with short dark hair and standing between 6 feet and 6 feet 2 inches tall. The man is clean shaven with a round face and thin build, according to the alert.
So watch out for men in their 20's driving a car.

2 robberies reported in the Illinois Medical District neighborhood

Police are searching for a man who they say knocked people down while demanding their property on at least two occasions Sunday in the city's Illinois Medical District neighborhood.
In the first instance, someone was robbed around 6:50 p.m. in the 600 block of South Wood Street, according to a community alert from the Chicago Police Department.
About 20 minutes later, another person was robbed in the 1800 block of West Harrison Street around 7:10 p.m.
The man is described as about 20 to 25 years old with short black hair and wearing a white shirt and blue jeans, according to the alert. He is about 150 pounds, standing between five feet nine inches and five feet 11 inches.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Area Central Bureau of Detectives at 312-747-8382.
Yes rahm we are really going to catch these felons! With these descriptions the public will be calling police every 1/4 of a second! Again dishonest police news affairs along with dishonest mayors office and of course dishonest pathetic lying news media!

Usually the media only omits race when the offenders are black.
Don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings, suffer from White guilt or risk being accused of being racist.

Good Morning Superintendent Johnson-
I'm writing to again demand more officers in the 14th District.
While I understand many districts are short on officers, the 14th District needs more officers, and we need to get the Wicker Park Detail (call it whatever you want) back on the streets now. The dissolution of the Wicker Park Detail and long-term reductions of manpower in the 14th have been unacceptable. The addition of a few tac teams in the early summer was temporarily helpful but the carjackings in the area have not abated.
I'm adding this story on the latest carjacking/attack on a 75-year-old woman in my ward and neighborhood. This is the latest story, and people in the community are outraged at the inadequate manpower in the area.
We go to the CAPS meetings, we host neighborhood meetings, we do all the work of building up neighborhood watch programs, and now we need the department and Mayor Emanuel to appropriate the police manpower necessary to deal with these issues. I'll repeat this need for officers again and again at the upcoming budget hearings.
The best way to handle it, based on the past positive crime reducing effect of the Wicker Park Detail, is to reinstate a similar detail immediately. When it was in effect, the Wicker Park Detail did a great job of thwarting criminal activity and responding with the local beat officers to crimes in the area.
I've listened to Commander Saldana at CAPS, at public events, and at the CompStat meetings and he has asked for more assistance. I know he would utilize the additional officers correctly. In my opinion, his office and the 14th District have been hamstrung by decreasing and inadequate manpower and resources for too long.
The community had enough of the carjackings some time ago, and is only getting angrier. We need to see more police officers on the ground in the 14th in a serious way to deal with this problem. Unlimited overtime is not working, and while hardworking and dedicated officers may like the additional work, they are also in danger of experiencing some burnout. Excessive overtime hours as a staffing policy is failing. And, while I appreciate the handful of PPO's being sent to the district, I don't believe it's significantly strengthening the district in the manner we need.
Please let me know what manpower increases we will see to deal with this issue. If there is no intent to permanently increase the manpower, then I invite you and the Mayor to the next CAPS meeting on October 18th (Beat 1434) to address the Bucktown/Wicker Park community concerns directly.
