The use of force training showed videos of the most black and white, clean examples of when to use force. It was apparent that these are textbook examples, and discussion isn't even warranted because everyone agreed on the force used.
Every working or former working P.O. understands that every TRR isn't so black and white or looks so perfect on video. This is a big problem with the class, that the instructors didn't/couldn't dissect a TRR scenario that may not look good to COPA or the public, and then explain why it was a good use of force.
One thing that was suggested was something that the Brits use to keep youngsters from hanging around storefronts. Called "The Mosquito" it emits a high pitched noise that bothers young people but older folks can't hear.
Try putting that on squad cars to break up unruly crowds.
What I suggested is playing Lawrence Welk music.
Most of you kids have no idea what that means.

On Friday evening during Chicago Week In Review-Channel 11, it was said that not only is COPA Chief Administrator Fairley leaving COPA, but so are the First Deputy Chief Administrator, the Senior Litigation Counsel and a Deputy Chief Administrator.
COPA is definitely bosshole heavy and the four absences will mean little minus or plus, beyond saving the expense of paying them. Professional athletes are, for all intensive purposes, entertainers. They would not be making any money playing children's games if people did not pay to see them. People pay to be entertained. At the end of the day, they are no different than tap dancers, comedians.... court jesters.
The NFL provides them a stage on which to perform their athleticism, and people pay to see them on that stage. So them using the stage provided by their employers to engage in political statements defeats the purpose of that stage. I for one watch sports because at the end of a long day of doing WORK, I want to be entertained. I don't want to be subjected to the political statements of sycophants.
If they want to make political statements, let them do it on their own time, like during the nine months of the year when they aren't working/entertaining.
That said, the NFL is more to blame for allowing them to make political statements on a stage for which I am paying to be entertained.
Don't blame the players, who are so naive that while in London, they kneeled during their own country's national anthem, but stood up during the British anthem--the anthem of the very country which made a fortune engaged in the slave trade in colonial and pre-colonial days. More ships during the hey days of slavery sailed under a british flag than probably any other country back then. But the descendants of those slaves now stand for that country's anthem??? Pure naivete; uneducated idiots.
Blame the NFL for not putting a stop to this. Football is a purely American game for which Americans pay good money to see and it has always begun with a patriotic display to the flag which is the world-wide symbol of this country. I saw the video of the retired Black coppers taking a knee at HQ and first of all I honor their service. To do the job over the years had to be very hard in different times, BUT what was missing is the call for Black Men to start raising their families.
