Phrasing and Rephrasing
A reader noted this and brought it to our attention - and the Slum Times changed it as soon as the editors realized the reporter had violated the tenets of slanted anti-police/anti-security/anti-gun reporting. Here's the original version:
- A person was shot by a security guard Thursday afternoon in the Bronzeville neighborhood on the South Side.
The “male offender” was shot in his chest by the guard at 3:42 p.m. in the 300 block of East 47th Street, according to preliminary information from Chicago Police.
He was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, police said.
The circumstances of the shooting and the age of the person shot were not immediately known.
Here's version 2:

Police have not released additional information about the shooting.
Slanted Journalism 101 says that you CANNOT identify anyone shot in the commission of a crime as an "offender." He/She is always the "victim" of the gun-wielding madman. Always.
Everyone reading here knows exactly what would have been printed if the police drilled this ne'er-do-well. It's amusing the first version saw print. You can bet that Hendrickson won't be making that mistake again.

Give the security guard the key to the city--- I don't think one exists but I would not want it.
I wonder if Obama is going to come out and say this could had been one of his sons--- or is President Trump going to do so....something tells those days are over

Offender or victim it would have been a much better article if it read the deceased was taken to the morgue.

Do these idiots even realize how totally transparent they are and how stupid they sound? They aren't even imaginative at what they do, they just follow the same script time and time again. Don't they get that it stopped working quite some time ago, and it's a joke now?
A rational person realizes that the world is a certain way, and that no amount of pretty words and visions will transform a pig wearing lipstick into anything but a pig. They accept that the pig is a pig and that everybody will be happier for acknowledging that fact. A liberal thinks that with enough lipstick (and maybe a few marches, tweets, or media puff pieces) the pig will not only cease being a pig but it will change genders too. They all belong in straight jackets, because they can't even grasp the basic concept of objective reality versus magical thinking.
Newsflash to them: just because you write, chant, or argue something a million times your actions do not make it so. Facts are facts, and fantasies are fantasies, and they are not interchangeable.

OT sort of, not a LEO, but WTF is up with CPD bringing some jagoff into an ER for whatever is "ailing" dude and then somewhere in the process, dude is asked to sign an I Bond and CPD is out the door leaving dude to be admitted to a patient floor? Who or what determines whether or not this insect is a danger or not? Without knowing his criminal skill set turned loose in an environment full of vulnerable individuals? I'm a public safety officer with no problem defending my charges or myself, but like you guys in CPD, we dont make it on scene til after the fact if something happens. Would have been a better read if they'd printed "He shot the S.O.B. 15 times in the chest, and finally killed him." Public is safer now.
