COPA Traffic Trickbag

COPA is already out of control, demanding favors from cops:
  • ...in 007 a car was called in by the LT to talk, while they went in they rolled some stop signs and red lights.

After talking to the LT they went back to their car and were stopped by COPA reps and told they were seen violating traffic laws and they won't be cited.....this time. But know they are watching.

This is retaliation for a traffic stop where a cop, from another district but was doing OT in 007, stopped a COPA rep and cited them for the stop sign. And the COPA rep handed a business card to the officer on the stop. The PO let them slide on other tickets and only hit them for a stop sign.

We were warned in roll call today because the officer that cited the butt hurt COPA fuckbag works in my district.
Anyone register for the OIG Snitch line yet? This would seem to be illegal on a few fronts and unethical on every other.

Was a citation for a stop sign, or any other violation so important? Who gives a shit about traffic. Now pay the price for even getting out of the car. If you youngins out there haven’t learned your lesson yet, it’s just a matter of time til you’re on the receiving end of your proactive mindset.

Ah, COPA. Can't wait to respond to a call of shots fired and find them pissed, scared out of their minds and wondering if any of us are really going to put my career on the line for them and chase let alone catch their offenders. For you COPA employees the answer is sure, all only within the guidelines of the G.O.s.

Wow! In a district up for grabs and the POLICE WORK HARD. Not from 007 but know. And I'm sure either way ticket or no ticket JO COPA would still bitch. It's out of control. Hmmm! Then they wonder why crime is unfortunately high. What has this job/department/city come too? What a moral booster.

Do the COPA clowns have any authority for writing up CPD for traffic offenses? Perhaps a charge of impersonating the police would educate these mental midgets that they are mere minions of 9.5 - and he would not back them if push comes to shove. It looks like their intensive training did not cover their duties and responsibilities or even what procedures to follow when they observe a minor infraction. Yelling citizen's arrest while chasing a squad car was strictly a scene out of Andy Griffith. RIP Jim Nabors, AKA Gomer Pyle.

If a COPA representative called me ( I am retired so this is easy for me to say) and asked me any questions, I would respectfully decline to answer unless I was served with allegations and ordered to answer. COPA is not your supervisor or your commander and I don't believe you have an obligation to talk to them unless you are served and you can have legal representation. However, it is no doubt the city counsel is trying to take that right away from you. There is no doubt that the media is not on your side and most of the public does not care after being hammered by the media for months about how lousy, and racist and mean and brutal the cops are. And, don't forget overpaid !. All of this makes me sad. If you go out there and want to be an aggressive police officer, you are playing with fire. I spoke to two LAPD Officers some time ago and they told me that they were called into the station by their watch commander who told them a citizen called in a complaint that these officers were speeding down an alley and driving unsafe. The officers admitted it and were cited by the watch commander. They told me they could not lie about it. This is what this is coming to.

First... Who the fuck would stop for them? Did they have dash cam to prove it? Not on camera, didn't happen.

Secondly, they don't have police powers, can't write tickets...

Third... IAD handles law enforcement related complaints...

Also, this nonsense about COPA calling districts about being rude... Tell them being "rude" is subjective so I can't answer that. And also, if you want me to answer any questions, please notify me via the proper channels so I can have my lawyer with me while I answer your questions. And then HANG UP THE PHONE.

Some of this nonsense they hear from someone else and act as if it was them, or hear only part of the story.

If you couldn't figure out the above on your own, you have a long career since you probably can't even explain yourself out of a paper bag.

Retired A/1 Homicide here. Don’t speak with anyone on the phone. Unless you are absolutely certain to whom your speaking to. We gave 0 information over the phone regardless of who they said they were. Giving information out regarding an offender, victim, or incident may be violating civil or hippa depending on circumstances. Refuse and give them reasons. Make them come to you, face to face. Then they are on your home court with your partner, witnesses, and your favorite supervisor.

One more thing. You pay your salary. So does your family and friends. You also pay the salary of everyone else including COPA, aldermen, judges, and states attorneys, including this fucking mayor. You are not second class. You are a tax payer. Expect all of them to be ethical and responsible just as they do you. If they fuck up get on them. You are footing the bill too.

Hey SCC, just a suggestion here, if possible could you or someone post the names of all COPA investigators and employees. The reason is simple we would then be able to do our own research on them as to their social, postings, Facebook, Twitter feeds, instagram, texts etc... and create our own data base on them so that when we are the focus of any complaints COPA handles we can at least go in prepared and informed of their own biases and prejudices. Knowing this we could then upon the investigation present our concerns about their inability to conduct a fair and impartial investigation. It would be good also for the police board members as well. This would have to be a data base to access information about those who would adversely impact our careers and lives. All information would have to be presented as accurate and without judgement, just posted information on these people who are tasked with investigating us. I also believe it would be helpful if we could object to the quality of the investigation based on this information for appealing their findings. We need to fight fire with fire but we need to do it with facts...... just my thoughts.....

Lets see the great decisions they make, because they know everything.

Let me know how that works out for you in civil court when your quick arrival to the watch commander’s office required you to run stop sign or red light and you killed or seriously injured someone. Complainant’s lawyer, “so what was so important that you had to run the red light which resulted in my clients death?” Your reply, “The Lietenenat wanted me to write a To From extending my furlough.” Or how about the Lieutenant wanted to let me know of a special attention notification on my beat.” Good luck pal. About the only thing you should be going through lights and signs these days is a 10-1. But hey I’m sure you’re smarter then everyone else.

And no COPA can’t write you a ticket but they can write you up for inappropriate conduct.

You should not be going through stop signs, red lights or driving like an asshole. On this particular issue I would have to side with copa. We are in a new era. If you don't get it by now, you never will.

Hey asshole, they were requested to arrive in the district ASP. Safely, going through a stop sign because of time restraints is what we do.

______

That is a smart response. Also, you are required to have the emergency equipment activated when disobeying traffic control devices. And you are only allowed to activate the equipment and disobey traffic control devices in emergencies, per state law. And there is a General Order that delineates the proper use of the emergency equipment, emergencies only. I am an academy instructor who is studying for the next test. Yes, you are welcome.

“Florida’s Tenth Judicial Circuit has issued a “death letter” against a Bartow police officer based upon a social media post in November of last year. This should be yet another warning that police officers do not have First Amendment protections against opinionated, questionable, or inflammatory personal Internet postings."

It’s called the Public Trust. When you post ignorant inflammatory nonsense the Courts have determined time and again you violated that Publc Trust. Why Police Officers and Firefighters and others that work in the Public Safety realm haven t figured that out is another fine example of You Can’t Fix Stupid.

Let’s not include firefighters in this. No “hero” has ever been fired for this. Total double standard. Sometimes if you push push or shove a police officer you can escape punishment and even get promoted

Sorry Francis, but 'the boss' never asked you to violate traffic laws just to come in and see them. Own up to what you did. As the other poster here already said, "you are in a new era" of policing. Do it right.

What is this, the sissy Poolice. About three months ago an unmarks squad with evidence inside it from a crime scene was towed by Streets and Sands. The Sgt and the Detective went to retrieve the vehicle and Streets refused to turn over the vehicle. The Sgt. was about a month from retiring and ordered the officers with him to place the Street and Sands guy under arrest for interfering with a police investigation. This occurred at 0200hrs., and promoted a call from the Hall to release the vehicle. Streets got a CR on the Sgt. that was killed, but hey, he was walking out the door anyway. All was later resolved, with Streets putting in a new policy if something like that every happens again the police vehicle will be promptly returned. The Sgt. had balls, not only that night but throughout his career. Back to COPA, is everyone running scared, so what, I ran a stop sign, write me up or whatever. Why would you even talk to these assholes?

You seem perfectly suited to brainwash the brainless, thus, you will most certainly be able to take ample credit for the loads of shit inheriting the policing of this growing shitpile......

Try not to pat yourself on your ass too vigorously, you'll need all the shit your ass brain can produce, plus some stored in reserve, for the future graduates of our soon to be department of stars......

I was the cop stopped by COPA. The guy never threatened me with a citation or giving a break or anything. He very polite and professional stating he observed me do it and I should be conscious of who may be watching. He implied the public.

12/20/2017 09:17:00 PM

thanks for clearing this up. But, the COPA employee is showing his arrogance and flexing his new found muscle. It probably will get only worse. When these COPA investigators call for a little help on the street, which they surely will eventually, follow all of the traffic regulations getting to his aid.

Is COPA supposed to be out proactively confronting police officers or are these guys just getting “Policee” with his new found authority?
Anyone approached on the street by a COPA employee should make out an information report about the encounter or at least a contact card or what ever they call it today. I’ll bet many higher ups would be very interested and concerned that these guys are prowling the streets and uncountable end up as a victim or offender in the near future.

COPA has confused their authority with the authority of a CPD supervisors. They’ve called units an admonished Officers without official allegations, just simply based off of telephone calls from citizens.

Believe it.. Don’t be surprised when you’re on-duty and you receive a call from a COPA representative; asking if you were rude to a citizen. They have called districts to speak with officers in regards to citizens complaints. I’m talking about verbal complaints not official allegations.
Example: Were you rude to Ms. P?
----------

Its very very simple. Please show me the report on paper and contact my F.O.P. representative and then we will talk.

Civilian Office of Police Accountability, or COPA — is better equipped to do the job. ... COPA will have the authority to examine patterns of complaints, recommend changes in policies and training, and weigh in on lawsuits involving police officers.Oct 7, 2016

Hey new police, do you see anything in there responsibilities to stop you while you are working and have a conversation. Or to monitor you while you are working, or to act as if they are the police or your supervisor. Tell them to fuck off and if they ever show up on a crime scene and start interfering with an investigation; then first warn them and then arrest the jagoff. Stir the fucking pot and put these assholes in their place. You're the shark in the water, they are nothing, you have police powers, start using them.

Go ahead and challenge COPA. When they have your ass that is when you'll be gettin' on your knees while your dysfunctional union rep sits with his hands in his pockets. City Hall backs COPA more than they do the blue. All of you tough nuts think ya got it figured out.
