Snitch Brochure

So if you were lucky enough to get your Department Issued Tie Clip, you had to also sign for the "CPD Member Hotline" paperwork, or as we titled this post, the "snitch brochure."

They claim not track IP addresses and the brass can't access it:

So it's kind of like the blog but with a government stamp of approval. Amusing. So interested parties can copy/paste entire posts/comments and forward it to the OIG. Hopefully, there's a provision in place that requires them to actually investigate each and every complaint filed - and to document each investigation. Start with ExamScam II and work backwards. How about that connected recruit that just pissed hot? Or the other recruit who pointed a gun at a classmate over some slight, real or imagined?

They'll either clean up this Department within a week or grind to a halt by 01 January.

SCC, rumor at 35th St. is that all the tasers are going to be removed from the department. All districts and units will no longer carry the Taser. The City is cancelling all contracts for future purchase of tasers as well. The City is instead rolling out a new weapon slated for 2019. Walk in Freezers. A contract has been signed with Frigidaire and each beat car will be equipped with one.

As soon as I get to work off my RDOs I’m sending them an email blasting the superintendent and every management title code down to the 9171. I’m sick of hearing white shirts talk about activity! If COPA wants evidence, request every document from comp stat and demand that there be audio and video recordings from here on out if comp stat is to remain.

COPA, community and politicians state we are no longer to be proactive police officers, yet the fools at 35th st keep pushing for activity. Fuck them all.

"We don't track your IP address"

Hahahahahahahaha...they expect people to believe that, especially in a city as clouted and corrupt as Chicago? Okay, let me put on my engineer hat for a moment...they know. They may not 'officially' know, but believe you me, it's in a file being skimmed off by some junior patronage drone to be given to who knows who. If you use this or any other whistleblowing service, do yourself a favor and use either the standalone Tor Browser or Whonix which is based on Tor. While Tor is far from bulletproof when dealing with apex predators like the NSA, it's more than enough to discourage local yokels and is recommended as standard procedure if you're serious about privacy.

I should have waited, but here it is again...Completely off topic - The 001st District parking lot is up for sale!! No joke. Heard this at roll call. Whoever buys the land has to build a parking garage for the district. They're looking for info on how many personal vehicles there are at each shift, how many spots are need for squad cars, if there are oversized vehicles, etc. Well, did these idiots take into account that there are 6, count 'em, SIX different entities working out of that building (Mass Transit, Major Accidents, Traffic, 001st District, Central D and Area Central Deputy? And that all of them have different start times? How do you put one of those huge prisoner vans into a parking garage? What about when there is a huge event, such as Lollapalooza and there are a dozen outside units working out of the building\?

If the land is sold, where do we park during construction? I want to know what politician has his/her grubby hands in this hot mess?? First the tie clips and now this. If this doesn't show you that the mayor or top brass ordoesn't give a shit about us, what will?

The information will be just like the bull$hit Service Requests the city has. 1. Request received. 2. City Department woking on it. 3. Closed out problem fixed. Yea like what happened if anything. Usually the problem is never solved, but on paper it is. They tell you nothing it's just there to placate the masses. Maybe the OIG should read this blog, SCC, which just described the Infastructure Trust blowing 5.1 million dollars and have nothing to show for it. Don't think for a minute that they, CPD Hotline Website, won't be able to identify you.

Now according to OIG my identifiers are not available to CPD. Sounds to me like they are trying to pass another Santa Claus story.

They may not *INTEND* to collect IP addresses or other personal information, but depending upon how the server is configured which is accepting the reports, that information MAY end up in a log file that can be reviewed.

So don't trust it for a second. There's been plenty of VPN's that have claimed not to log anything, and they really meant it - except that some geek missed a mundane detail and oops, the log was enabled.

Truly doing something anonymously on the Internet is difficult - not impossible, but difficult. If the site was engineered like any of the other crap in the City, well... you know where I'm going with this.

Don't trust it. Stay fetal. Stay employed.

This one is interesting to say the least. The millennials are something else. Never before have I heard of more coppers beefing on other coppers. This site will be used. It’s way too appealing to believe you can hide behind anonymity in order to complain against coworkers.

There is a silver lining to this black cloud though. The State of Illinois and our Collective Bargaining Agreement require a sworn affidavit for complaints filed against Officers. While it has become a “normal” situation for an Officer to file a complaint against another Officer and the affidavit is waived because the Officer is considered sworn, the same would not hold true for any anonymously lodged complaint against an Officer.

Two things are absolutely hilarious though. You will be anonymous, but we need your information to verify your CPD employment. Talk about talking out of both side of one’s mouth. A politician had to have written that one. You are encouraged not to use CPD resources. Of course. They can’t nail down an individual user on a computer that is used by hundreds of people a day.

Chicago to pay $20 million to settle code-of-silence lawsuit over fatal crash caused by drunken cop, sources say

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/ct-met-chicago-cop-fatal-dui-settlement-20171218-story.html

Over hundred million freely given away so far to pander to the democrats and felons! This guy was "off-duty" so saying that lets say a cab driver, truck driver, warehouse worker, doctor or even a firefighter is "off duty"would their employer be responsible?
why is the city responsible in this case? Code of silence? The real code of silence is the elected especially here, lets take a quick look around! That mcdonald video that rahm claims he never seen before it was public, would that be a "code of silence?" WDGK What does Gary know and will Gary finally man up and disclose what rahm knew and when he knew it?

Taking this further looking at the other thread about the copper shooting the car jacker off duty, why is that copper forced into the "30 days of purgatory" nonsense? It should be simply cleared,he followed the law maybe give him a commendation for a job well done!!

God bless the police!

You should expect no privacy or anonymity when you use a computer, unless you have a very good encryption program. I sat on a criminal jury a few years ago and cyber crime was an issue. How your computer is tracked is amazing. The fact you are reading this is known and is available to the NSA, FBI etc should they wish to track you.

Also be aware that devices are so small that a family member can bring in a "bug" you won't know it is there and some agency can listen in.

Your privacy is dependent on just how much effort someone wants to spend in snooping. Once on the computer and it is forever in cyber space.

They all know damn well who the problem children are on this department, so this whole process is irrelevant. The connected, minorities, and blood relatives of the exempts will NEVER be touched with any real discipline. And this bs about how they need to "verify" our employment is total nonsense. If you are giving them detailed info of some impropriety occurring within the district that only a sworn officer would know then that's verification enough. They just threw that in there to actually discourage anyone from using this useless service, if you can call it that. Another branch of government workers who will have nothing to do and collect checks for it.

Gotta wonder, they establish a “hotline rat box” and then print a brochure.
So who was walking all those “frequently asking questions” that they answered if they just started that hotline ?
Simple answer is they asked and answered their own nonsensical questions.
Trust them, they’re not one bit associated with the Department. They love confidential informants.

It won’t be too long before the Dept technical geniuses come up with a WiFi ‘personnel’ assistant device to monitor the blue shirt shenanigans everywhere. Or did they already do that with body cams?

I'm retired. My former employer had a thing where you could look at the info electronically. The first thing I thought was "they use cookies" to see what one person looked at. Never signed up for it, so the good & fair company sent us all letters that we were costing them money for paper. This, as they put up 20 new notices a day on the board at work. But, that was different.

Walked on eggshells all the time and
watched the suck-ups, ass kissers squealing all the time and getting nowhere.

What about all the liberals in Hollywood who knew about the sexual abuse and harassment and kept their mouths shut for years. And all the politicians who know of all the criminal activity of their counterparts and keep their mouths shut? And the news reporters that don't report their fellow reporters? SCC, I disagree. I believe 100% that there is a code of silence in this department. However the code of silence is not as people suggest. The code of silence is department supervisors screwing their subordinates and then other supervisors covering for them. I have heard numerous stories time and time again. The supervisors are smart about it as well. Almost always orders are given verbally so when an officer complains there is no proof and it is the officers word against the supervisors. Guess who wins....every time.
