Pissing Away Money

  • The bold idea was that private financing could be found for much-needed, big-ticket improvements for the city, making it possible to get more of them done sooner and sparing taxpayers from having to foot the bills. City Hall says that still can happen.

But the infrastructure trust has fallen short of the expectations the mayor laid out. It has yet to raise a dime in private financing for a single public works project, records show. At the same time, it has cost Chicago taxpayers more than $5.1 million to pay for its handful of employees, offices on Wacker Drive, consulting fees and other expenses.
$5.1 million. That might have gone a long way toward taking care of elderly retired police officers....and in some cases their widows who don't have promised health care any more.

Stop bitching!

There are "Priorities" in a Cloutocracy.

One is patronage and giving good jobs to people who don't have the skills to manage the fryer at McDonalds.

But, because they are a relative, they are "good enough" for a Director position paying $140,000. (plus pension of course)

Read the article in the Sun Times, your blood will boil. So we have a bunch of connected people ( check their names out on the Il. Bd. of Elections, all donors to that cancer called the Chicago Democrat Party) supposedly doing the work that City of Chicago Departments do. So the Infrastructure "helped" find a contractor to upgrade the city's street lights and consulted on other City projects. Well can't the Bureau of Electricity do that. Just look on the internet, there are tons of companies that do street lights. So they have pissed away over five million dollars and have nothing to show for it. WHERE DID THE MONEY go RAHM? Where is the FBI and the DOJ. Oh we know! Time to seat a Federal Grand Jury. And don't forget about RAHM'S City ID program for illegal aliens that uses taxpayer money to fund.

If anyone would keep following the money, there is a very good possibility that this was a sham set up to pass through the $5.1 million to Rahm's connected cronies.

One question: After paying $5.1 million, has anyone at the city realized that the "Infrastructure Group" is not very good at their job; or is the city going to continue to pay this crew for obviously doing nothing?

"Fallen short"? Ha-ha-ha! That's not 'Falling Short', that's doing a Triple Gainer with a Half-Twist into the Grand Canyon. For Leftist Trolls reading this that means it's a Complete and Utter Failure!!

Which brings up an associated matter, all these great and grandiose 'expectations' spewed by Chicago and Cook County politicians never -- Ever! -- come to fruition. No matter the brain-fart of an idea, be it stupid programs like this from Tiny Dancer, or some proposed Tax that's going to bring in One Gazillion Dollars, every single one falls flat on it's face.

This article aside, where is Chicago's vaunted media to point all these failures out? Where is the Better Government Association? Where the hell are all the 'Watch Dogs' demanding heads on platters?

Kissing Rahm's ass. That's where.

Were there to magically appear on the ballot any actual Republican candidate, no, not the sludge we are always being served up, the resulting election outcome would astound.

Not these cuck fuck republicans, who connive as if they're democrats, but actual MAGA Republicans.

The reality here is that there are few actual MAGA currently residing within the borders of Illinois, let alone Crook county or the city of shitheads.

So, all this bleating about voting republican......

First find a MAGA candidate, then see if you can gather enough signatures, 3-5 times the statutory minimum, then see if you can slip this candidate past the board of election rigging, then, if you've managed to actually get this candidate onto the actual printed ballot, ask yourself one question: Do you have anywhere near what our current Potus has? Balls, moxy, gall, nerve, etc.....that, fuck it and fuck them, attitude......

Then prepare to be ignored by the voters.....they are that denutted.....

This is unbelievable. Up on the far norwest side you have Alderman Laurino proposing a TIF account to help a private contractor basically a strip mall. Are you kidding me I bet you’d have developers lining up to build on that property. Why do tax payers have to finance their development projects? This is bs. They act like tax money is theirs to do what they want with and give to connected people who in turn give Big political contributions back to them. If this isn’t corrupt and should be illegal we’ll never get Illinois out of near bankruptcy.

The cost of such a boondoggle should be deducted from the mayor's salary and retirement plan. He'd be a hell of a lot more careful about his promise's in the future.

Of course most Alderthieves are land developers first before public servants.

$5mil for a theater in a piss bum area....hmmmm, who's Ward is that?
Note that the money was spent on mostly upfront costs like consulting, rent and legal service.
There’s no better way to redistribute excess taxpayers wealth than with a sham community revival program.
Didn’t they try the same thing with The Bronzedville New Regal theatre that sent Regina Evans to prison?

Nothing will be done. Rahm was and is considered the smartest guy in the room. In the meantime he puts on a sweater and panders to the community instead of producing anything of substance. Andrea Zopp is now being paid over 300k to do what? Ginger Evans gets 400k, over a third of city employees make over 100k but the city still hires outside counsel and contractors. But let me sell weed, my life is over.

Part of the job mentality. When deferred came out in 1984 or so 75% of the guys didn’t trust the city and thought that the city would steal their deferred money. I was one of those idiots as they used to say that ignored that and retired with over $700,000.00 in deferred

Downtown offices rented by the city? Couldn’t the city locate this agency in currently vacant offices the city already has under lease? How bout a vacant school? Or office space at the Pershing Road complex-plenty of empty space and free parking there. The old 13th District? A free parking lot there. How about taking some space off the Board of Ed’s hands-there is surplus space in their HQ building. How but some cheap space in the Thompson Center, you know the building Rham doesn’t want Rauner to sell. Oh, I know! How’s about Lisa Madigan’s Office? She doesn’t appear to be working lately.

How about city council pushing through the plans to retrofit every street light in the city with led lights. Why do the taxpayers allow such waste? If the lights come on at night then leave it alone! Seems the mayor has no problem pissing away money that should be used to fix roads, alleys, bridges, hire more police. He keeps raising taxes while wasting money and providing less services to the taxpayers. I'm getting fed up and moving out.

There's going to be a reckoning in the coming decades at the local, state, and national level for not paying the piper forever. Social Security is a scam and Ponzi scheme, as is Medicare.

12/18/2017 10:31:00 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Social Security is not a Ponzi scheme:

The superficial similarity to a Ponzi scheme is that different sets of investors are relying on future investors, or at least future growth, to get paid back. But that defines a Ponzi scheme so broadly as to make the term meaningless. In that definition, any intergenerational transfer system is a Ponzi scheme.

What makes a Ponzi scheme a Ponzi scheme is that it’s a giant fraud. People think they’re investing in postal stamps. Their money is actually being invested in nothing. In Social Security, conversely, it’s perfectly clear what is going on. Every year, Social Security’s actuaries release an insanely detailed report on the system’s finances, its balance of payments, the potential problems it could face, and so on. You can read their report here. In a Ponzi scheme, the finances are a secret, and that’s central to the enterprise. In Social Security, they are, as a matter of law, public.

You seem to have omitted three, (3), factors concerning the difference between the notorious Ponzi Scheme and the current manifestation of the widely misunderstood Social Security Scheme.

1. Ponzi requires willing contributors imbued with the necessary qualities to be duped. Social Security Scheme, being run by governmental authority, is pre-imposed, via payroll deductions, upon the marks.

2. Ponzi, by it's nature, runs it's course in short order, quick and painful, effecting only those who have chosen to participate, albeit because they believed the lies that were dangled in front of their hoping to hit it big sparkling eyes. Social Security Scheme runs on what could be thought of as an asserted perpetual flow of money machine, said flow being akin, it is implied, to rain falling to ground, flowing to rivers, flowing to oceans, moving to sky, forming clouds, producing rain, falling to ground.........almost a form of nature.......

3. Ponzi is, while appearing here and there, from time to time, affecting this one and that one, of little to no concern for any but those having a nest egg and wanting to increase it's size quickly, without exerting much effort, whilst Social Security Scheme, being imposed upon only those who are employed, on the input end and all others not employed, qualified via a variety of specified criteria, on the output end, affects our nation's domestic economic condition, and, thus, can be seen to be of much greater interest to the ongoing generations being continuously produced, imported, migrated, etc., as to it's intended purpose and cost being understood.

The similarity between Ponzi and Social Security is found in the similarity between being deliberately deceived and being effectively deceived, whilst being compelled to contribute......the Ponzi needing only willing dupes and the Social Security needing only continued governmental authority to impose.

The availability of Social Security data is effectively deception by inundation......who amongst us can count the raindrops, let alone track them to where each one goes, let alone count them once they enter the river????

One can avoid being a victim of Ponzi; not so for the input side of Social Security. As for the output side, the meager size of each drop of rain conceals the eventual effects of the summing of all drops, said effects being both beneficial and detrimental, a commonly experienced phenomena of not only governmental activities but also life, as we know it, itself.
