Corruption in Foxxx's Office?

  • Fox 32 News has learned that State's Attorney Kim Foxx has accepted the resignation of one of her top aides, after an internal review revealed he was steering significant amounts of legal work to his former law firm at unusually high rates.

The resignation of the acting Civil Actions Bureau Chief, Chaka Patterson, comes after Fox 32 News first made inquiries about the State's Attorney's use of outside counsel six weeks ago. State's Attorney Foxx’s office provided us with a statement saying that her own review of outside counsel practices revealed that Patterson was referring significant business to his former law firm, Jones Day. Documents provided to Fox 32 News show Jones Day attorneys were sometimes being paid up to $500 an hour, rather than the customary rates of about a $185 an hour for outside legal services.

The state's attorney says an outside law firm has agreed to do a review of Foxx's use of outside counsel--at no cost to the county. And in the meantime, any outside counsel who are selected will only be chosen with the approval of the judge who's handling the case.
So are taxpayers going to be reimbursed? How much was this mope getting in kickbacks?

And more importantly, is anyone losing a law license and going to jail?

Chaka, you need a good thrashing by the Bar.
That's just for starters. Pay back the overage out
of your own earnings, with interest. White collar
thief. Not impressed at all. That job requires too
much dignity, and you don't have any at all.
Theft by personal connections. Greedy pig.
You need a Martha Stewart vacation.

Cronyism at its finest. Chaka Khan is a successful attorney who one day has an epiphany and convinces himself to go work for the county. I'm mean he really wanted to be a public servant...........yeah right. Chaka Khan knows the best and easiest way to get on the bench in Crook County is to work at the State's Attorney's Office. A couple of years there, you get slated by the Dems, and you run unopposed in the primary. That leads to a landslide victory in the general election and $180k a year to start. Not a bad gig if you could get.

So is there a kickback investigation? My guess is given the names involved these are persons of color. Right? They're just getting their just do. Too many people of color in jail despite the fact they are doing things that in a normal society would put them in jail. The Chicago Way in action.

So I'm confused. Is this example of Chicago Values or the Chicago Way? Or maybe both since all involved are democratic office holders.

Why even ask stupid question, is anyone going to jail or lose law license. More likely they get a large severance package and excellent reference letter from Kim.
As to reimbursement frogetaboutit the Jones firm has their money and are keeping it. In fact they are expecting much more once this dies down a little.

Let’s see, I agree to do a $2,000.00 audit in exchange for $200,000.00. Sign me up. This raises some Very Interesting issues. States' Attorneys define what is a crime and how to pursue its prosecution. However, who investigates them, when they commit a crime? Money was made on this Insider Deal; but the alleged offenders walk, and the taxpayers eat the bill! People go to jail and even prison for stealing a lot less. The same with an Inspector General in Chicago. For example, the Inspector General of City Colleges. He finds employees guilty of stealing from the System, then he just sends them to their clout, and the offender walks away from the job, without prosecution or restitution to the tax-payers. Their punishment is to be put on the "Do Not Rehire" list.! Kids struggling to get an education, end up with a worthless piece of paper, and no promised job; and the people behind the scam just walk away. When Nick Schuler, Inspector General for Chicago Public Schools, found corruption of federal monies, he handed it over to the Feds, and Byrd Bennet is in Federal Prison. Rahm wanted the Feds to take over the Police Department; but maybe the Feds should consider taking over the State's Attorneys Office, and while they are at it they can visit the Inspector General for City Colleges of Chicago. The amount of corruption, in those two Agencies might be surprising. Stay safe, but don't worry Rahm's got your back. Baby "G"

Chaka M. Patterson (born November 27, 1968) is a M/1 American attorney. He is one of the top fundraisers for US President Barack Obama. He is also a fundraiser for Hilary Clinton. He also served on the national finance committee for President Obama's 2012 presidential campaign. He is currently an Assistant State's Attorney in Cook County, Illinois and heads the Office’s civil bureau. (presently resigned from his post) His offense can be used to disbar him. So people look what's in Kimmy's officer, and to you hard chargers, if this isn't proof enough that we are in deep shit with this type of States Attorney Administration, then you need medical help. Lisa Madigan gonna even check on this?

Since LiL Lisa Madigan wants to be in FOP's contract negotiation with the City pushing a consent decree it only make sense she safe-gaurds the County.

And what about all those cases this hack lawyer has ever dropped? You know when the State attorney say we have discretion to blow off felony crime? Anyone gonna do a Jon Burge type investigation pulling all the old reports?

All those Nifty hack (retired) state attorneys investigators going into action like they do in police investigations? Cmon guys you were the so called cream of the crop when you worked in the AREA's in the early 2000's.

The worst part is the day before he lost the taxpayers $48,000,000 for a kid killed by
her grandmother - that should be the story.

In December, 2017, as Chief of the Cook County State's Attorney's Office's Civil Division, Patterson was lead defense counsel in a civil case brought against Cook County by the family of an 8-year-old girl who had been tortured and murdered by her grandmother. [23] The suit had been filed against Cook Co. because a doctor who had treated the girl worked at the county hospital at the time.[24] On December 13, 2017, after Patterson had delivered his closing argument on behalf of the county, the jury ruled against the county and awarded the family $48,000,000. [25]

Patterson resigned from the Cook County State's Attorney's Office the following day after prosecutors found that as head of the civil division he had “referred significant business to his former law firm (Jones Day) at a billing rate significantly in excess of the standard county rate.” [26] They launched an investigation.[27] [28]

You should vote for someone of good morale character and has the experience to do the job. Foxx was voted in because she is Black not because she has experience. The justice system in this city let alone county is doomed.

Let's be clear on one thing. Foxx did not voluntarily "discover" Patterson's unethical conduct of referring cases to his former firm. It is ONLY because the press was already onto it that she and her "policy advisors" "discovered" it in an internal investigation. She knew about it and it would have continued if it hadn't been questioned by outsiders. Foxx handpicked Patterson for the position and dissolved units within the civil division...the same units that tried cases but now she allowed Patterson to refer all those cases to outside firms, mainly his old firm. Foxx is as guilty as Patterson.
