Future Ties

  • When Jennifer Maddox got the first call from CNN in November 2016, she was actually at dinner with the culprit who nominated her.

“At first I wasn’t going to answer it, because I thought it was a telemarketer. She said, ‘Can I speak to Jennifer Maddox?’ I said, ‘Who’s calling?’ I thought she was about to try to sell me something,” said Maddox, 46, a Chicago Police officer named one of this year’s top 10 CNN Heroes.

“She said, ‘This is CNN. We heard of all the wonderful work you’re doing, and want to come to Chicago and visit you.’ I’m like, ‘OK . . . ‘”

CNN Heroes has for 11 years honored people from across the globe, “everyday people who have dedicated their lives to change the world.” A 20-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department, Maddox founded Future Ties, a nonprofit after-school and summer program in Woodlawn’s beleaguered Parkway Gardens complex.
It has been pointed out here and elsewhere that cops are part of the glue that hold a community together, not only one duty, but off-duty, too. Volunteers like this officer, coaches at sporting events, donating time at churches, community events, etc. It's certainly nice to see some recognition for these efforts.

I wish her well, but I hope this does not turn into
The Sports Illustrated Curse, where she, the CPD,
or both have a dramatic change of fortunes.
I would not want to be in the same camera shot
with Rahm.

Good Job PO Maddox.
Merry Christmas to all.

Good for Officer Maddox.

However, I would not trust CNN.

Kudos to the Officer for the great work. Too bad it's coming from CNN and I'd be extremely suspicious of the story and how they cast it. Hopefully it's not to suit their radical libtard agenda.

Congratulations to PO Maddox. It’s a shame that she has to expend that effort on her own.

I am interested in something though - how is she funded? Can her efforts be duplicated elsewhere?

Congrats Officer Maddox. Just remember its the Clinton News Network, so be careful what, and how, you say anything.

This didn't happen in a vacuum...

Rahm ordered this as a little holiday
feel-good to show that the eeeevil
Po-leece don't actually mistrust
and revile the predominant culture
of "da communerty" and that the
Po-leece aren't actively putting as
much distance between themselves
and "da communerty" as humanly
possible.

No knocks on the Officer at all,
but again, in the very hot and
hotted-up media war against
The Police and Policing as an
institution, CNN tracking down
the Officer to give plaudits has
a whiff of the odor of decay in
spite of all the "air freshener"
having been sprayed...

Dig... You might find one of Rahm's
propeller-head staffers...

The public would be surprised how many “good” people there are on this job. I used to work with a guy in 009 that used to take the pints off the rummies in 009 and drive across Garfield and give it out to the drunks in 007. Only around the holidays though. He worked the 06 car.

Excellent Work Officer Maddox.
You're a credit to the CPD and a great human being.

Now, I hate to say this BUT!... be wary of CNN, they are not your friend Oficer Maddox. Not ever.

CNN being all hardcore leftists, there's likely a trap somewhere, something they can use in the future, and not in a good way. Like an offhand comment about your job, the CPD in general, and/or your police coworkers.

Good work Officer, but fuck CNN. Refuse and make sure other media know you have refused CNN but will tell the story to another.

Great job. It feels great to help people. A positive police story...now if they run 200 more, they can say “ balanced” reporting.

Do good things and hope good things happen.
Lots of good intentions start out small and unnoticed.
Trying to undo the biased teachings of the bitter, corrupt CPS with volunteer funded after school programs...quite a task.

FakeNews CNN recognition, hardly an accolade since their agenda has always been anti police.
As far as FakeNewsCNN is concerned, grants, awards and financial backing always come with their terms attached.

So what ever became of The Slick Boys from the early 90’s?

My responsible dad was working 3rd watch and my responsible mom was taking night classes in grad school after she got off work. I got off the bus and would go get my brother from the sitter around the corner. My sister would get dropped off and we were on our own till class was over... that included warming up dinner, eating and getting homework done. It would have been cool if we had a non-responsible parent program to help keep their eyes on us till my parents got home. Not every kid is going to listen and stay inside the house like we did. I often think about a guy I was friends with in HS. He's a 2 time felon now. Grew up in a nice high rise with a doorman. Drove a nice older model luxury car and had whatever he wanted when we were 15/16. Graduated from catholic grammar school and high school. Went away to a noteworthy private university for one year and said forget it and came home to hang with everybody he had to leave behind. Most recently he's taken to riding around with blows and pistols in weed smoke filled cars and being an easy PCS arrest. For whatever reason he decided to become a low level dope boy "responsible" parenting was one thing he never lacked. The crazy thing is it's the broken home, no college, sketchy kids who didn't get locked up and try to be professional dope dealers.

well, that is true while also being not true. Plenty of kids from good families with " responsible parents" do not do well in life. There are lots or recent studies to bear this out. The last one that I saw studied 500 very successful people and found out that only 15% came from intact families. The key thing that was common in all of the people studied was a very strong mother.

Maddox did well, but prosti-news CNN will
actually play her for stats in the FCC license
renewal petition. Check off all boxes that apply:
1. Minority
2. Female (1+ 1 = 2)
3. Police officer (up to #3 now)
4. Police officer doing charity work
(positive spin on police) (add 1 point)
5. Police officer receiving award, which
you wouldn't know about were it not for CNN
6. A positive story CNN will say they ran on their
time as a public service and ate the loss of ad revenue
Total: 6 Points (bet your ass it will be on renewal application;
CNN will run story multiple times on Jan. 1, 2018 as part of
"2017, Year In Review")
