If you go to the HeyJackass page, you'll see that Concealed Carriers have justifiably shot 20 criminals this year (11 dead, 9 wounded).
Chicago Police have shot 22 criminals (11 dead and 11 wounded).
We could literally see more CCL shootings than police shootings in 2017, and we can't even express how happy that makes us.

I (not LEO) Have an IL CCL and a premium insurance plan and the thought of even having to display my pistol scares the shit out of me. I have read plenty of articles and comments about officer involved shootings on SCC and realize the consequences of an LEO's use of a weapon. It will be 10 times worse for a civilian. I'm a lock-them-up-and throw-away-the-key guy and any CCL holder who isn't and is looking forward to an encounter is a moron.

339 Carjackings in 2015, with 37 arrests, yielding a 10.9% clearance rate.
865 Carjackings in 2017, with 51 arrests, yielding a 5.9% clearance rate.
So Carjackings double and the clearance rate drops in half.

There's a reason the second amendment was added to the Constitution . . . it was deemed so important it was placed second inline, only after free speech.
The founding fathers knew a situation would arise when government would get too big for its britches and Chicago is the proof. The officials are running their own little fiefdom down there without regard to the constitution. They've even hamstrung their own police department with goofy rules about "use of force" deployment so cops are fetal as a result.
Here's where the citizen comes in: The second amendment is protected and regulated by the Federal Government, not some JO/hack like Rahm Emanuel.
You can thank the NRA for protecting your Constitutional rights--without the second amendment there would be no first amendment or any others for that matter.
There is a legislative push right now to recognize CC permits from other states just as Illinois recognizes drivers licenses from Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan and others. Chicago and states like NY and California are just going to have to eat it when this initiative becomes law (which I hope it will).
In the meantime, if you carry or own a gun, join the NRA. It's not expensive and it's the best thing you can do--next to voting a straight republican ticket--to protect yourself and your constitutional rights.

Pardon me for saying this, but hitting the target at a range is one thing. Hitting a bad guy while under stress and possibly a surprise attack is something altogether different. Tho not a PO myself I can tell you from experience that defending oneself when you're in a climate controlled range setting (where we're all on the same side, so to speak) is vastly different than being attacked at the gas station on the wrong side of town. If you're a PO ,then by all means this is not meant for you, as you have the training and expertise to make that statement. I myself, NOT being in LE, have been taught the difference by family "On the job" and recognize my limitations in this area. Having said that, both PO and CCW's need to have situational awareness and use good judgement. I apologize if I have offended anyone. That was not my intention.

I actually hope that never happens. CCL or just a FOID, you are going to get made an example of by Kim Foxx for a UUW.
Remember that the CTA No CCW policy only protects the Criminals, since the CPD doesn't have the staff to keep a Cop on every Bus or Train Car every minute of every day.
Which begs the question of why doesn't Chicago have a dedicated Transit Police Department like NYC or other Large Metropolitan Municipalities.

Why use good ammo for practice? Plain Jane rounds are good enough for punching holes in paper.
I keep a box of .40 Hollow points for the 2 home defense magazines in the house and just grab a box or 2 of basic rounds when I go to Shore Galleries on the weekends.

Tim Heneghan who is running for 41st Ward Alderman said to numerous people if elected he wants to make it harder to obtain a CCL within Chicago. I don’t know how anyone in their right minds would want to vote for this fool!

Thats one way to hand the election to the current Alderman. At least Tony is Current CFD and Former CPD.
I can't help but notice the kill rate for CPD and CCL is much higher than for the community at large. Practice does make perfect!
