- Two people stole the vehicle of an off-duty Chicago Police detective at gunpoint Tuesday morning in the Bucktown neighborhood on the North Side.
A 43-year-old man was sitting in his black 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee at 11:29 a.m. in the 1900 block of North Wolcott when two males wearing overalls and hoodies walked up and demanded the vehicle at gunpoint, according to Chicago Police.
The man complied and the suspects drove away west in the stolen Jeep, police said.

Bigger question that looms in the background is about chasing car jacking offenders. Some supervisors letting it go. I wish the department would just put out a policy and say that certain crimes are “chase-able” and others aren’t. Personally it’s still just property to me and I wouldn’t chase b/c if someone dies from that chase you are F’ed! The problem is a lot of people think since it’s a hijacking that makes it ok to chase. I treated to hear what others think and what supervisors think.

Don't sweat it . We all know that millions upon millions of dollars have been invested in shotspotter tecnology, Pod cameras, hunchlabs, Strategic Decision Support Centers and proprietary software from Genetec to utilize crime fighting tools. Dash cams and body worn cameras round out the technology. Surveillance technology and plate readers permanently track vehicles so its just a matter of time to track down the vehicle or whereabouts any vehicle for that matter in real time via the public safety surveillance networks. Lets not overlook the human assets with all the law enforcement expirience who put all this high-tech to work to make our city a safer place to live, shop and worship.

I purchased a small GPS tracking device for my vehicle, in the event it is stolen. This device is rechargeable and half the size of a pack of cigarette's. In the app it shows the charge level of the battery, as well as the exact location of the device. the location can be set to notify you every 3 minutes or 30 seconds. I hide it in the vehicle and hope that I never have to retrieve my vehicle from Preckwinkle and Foxxs misunderstood youth who were just out funning.
Something to think about.
If the hooded males are sticking up police detectives, what chance does the average citizen have to protect their lives and property?

That helps but also strong guidance to impress upon you right from fucking wrong. If I hear another politician whine about job training, after school programs and something for the kids to do I will fucking scream. Even back in the day I made it a point to utilize libraries, visit museums and just learn on my own. Kids today are brainwashed by these commercials for "stuff" and they get offended by being labeled poor. So it becomes a priority to have money and bitches. How else can you explain a kid walking around with a damn Iphone worth 700 bucks but torn up clothes? Or a playstation with 50 games in the house? My kids are in college. We cut the cord on cable and did not regret it. They had phones but the old ones. Eventually we gave in but only when they showed responsibility. Parental involvement at a young age is key or the gangs will take the kids from you. I am sure the cops know this already.

Maybe if we had a helicopter up we wouldn’t have to chase. Just monitor when they stop grab them. PH1 showed this is possible with the offenders from the mustang last week.
Overalls....reminds me of the early 90's after I transferred as a trooper from Chicago to a downstate college town. The GD's started moving to town and all started wearing Carhart clothes from the local Rural King. All the local cops started to refer to them as the Rural Kings. Really Pissed the GD's off. Good times reminding them they weren't in the Big City any more.

I had a small very small toggle switch installed on the dash of my F-150 that absolutely disables it !! With all the buttons and switches some Orc would never figure it out Someone jacks you shut the thing off get out and let them have it! Plenty of time to get your piece out, hold it on them and call 9-11 A GPS tracker is a good idea too.
At our house in Delavan,WI watching evening news out of Milwaukee. This happened last May(2017). Female gassing up her Equinox at gas pump, keys in car, running. Dude Inc. pulls up with group in stretch black Caddy limo. Dude jumps out and jumps in victim's car. Female jumps on hood, hanging on to wiper blades. Dude tries three times to accelerate/brake to throw her. After three times, he fails to get her off vehicle. Jumps back into limo but leaves her car in gear. She chases after her car, jumps in and stops it. He takes off with cohorts in limo. Police catch the bad guys.
He's in court n orange jump suit(couldn't make bond, no Toni or SA Foxx north of the cheddar curtain).
He pleads to agg veh carjacking and attempted murder. JUDGE GIVES HIM ELEVEN YEARS!!!!! Maybe it's time for a field trip to Milwaukee for ASA's and Judges!
