This is the link to the CBS website. About halfway down is the WBBM Newsradio report and in it, Bob Roberts elicits this comment from a DePaul student regarding the four armed robberies in the course of minutes the other day:

Seriously? She's making excuses for shitheads sticking a gun in people's faces and relieving them of their personal property. We remember a time when victims were outraged that this could happen in their "nice" neighborhood. They called aldercreatures and complained that streetlights were out, parking was crowded, seedy types were hanging in alleys and on street corners. They expected a certain level of safety.

I went to OPRF in the late 80's-into early 90's. This kind of crap was pushed onto the students by the teachers during class time. I can still remember the teachers telling the class that its ok for blacks to steal/ rob from non-blacks because blacks are entitled to do so. With black students in class, the teachers would talk about how blacks need special exceptions in life because blacks are not expected to do well on tests and job interviews. Students were told that non-black's should give their jobs/ careers to blacks. We were also taught that we shouldn't go the best doctors when we are sick. We were told to go to black doctors because if we do not, then we are racist. The teachers also told us that our parents should give up their homes to blacks, because blacks will never buy a home. This is what was taught in the schools in Oak Park then. I can't imagine the kind of crap they are pushing now.

Exactly half a century ago, I was a young teen growing up on the South Side. One day 2 friends came by & we started walking, beautiful day. Started meandering into a certain area that I was not keen to walk thru but the friends said "don't be silly, people are people, blah blah". More then once a liberal university type was the victim of robbery and many times a smack in the face. We caught the offenders. The victims said the same thing that they had sympathy for a poor struggling inner city youth and they would not press charges, but they wanted their property back. I went to the most liberal university in Chicago back in the late 70's (Loyola). With my degree in Economics, I was a beat man in 007 by 1982. Just wondering, has the City provided Officer Rialmo with any form of Critical Incident Stress Debriefing following his shooting incident? DePaul is doing what it can do to survive. They built a basketball venue on our dime and the funds were assured by the threat of beating the individual taxpayer in court, taking your money with the threat of losing your house. No difference.

So with the microscope on him dip shit gets involved in a fistfight in a tavern. I agree with the retired guy. Blind loyalty is no way to improve the image of the CPD.
And I’m sure you tried to improve the image of the CPD when you were on the job. Realmo is getting railroaded. Big issue was did the goof hold the bat over his head when charging at him or was the guy swinging the bat. Don’t think swinging or not swinging the bat should be the issue. You should not charge at a P.O. with a bat raised over your head. If Realmo waited any longer he could have been killed
