The City has spent how many tens of millions sound-proofing houses around Midway and O'Hare? Perhaps it's time for the Rahm to offer to bullet-proof buildings around the Gold Coast?
- Chicago police responding to a shooting discovered two bullet holes in a window of Northwestern Memorial Hospital in the Gold Coast Friday morning, Chicago police said.
No one was injured. Police responded to the shooting in the 200-block of East Erie Street at about 4:18 a.m.
Northwestern said it was a random incident and the projectiles hit the outpatient pavilion on Erie Street. The office was closed at the time.
And after the Gold Coast gets their windows, Rahm can start on the west and south sides.

"Northwestern said it was a random incident". Chicago universities have a long tradition of downplaying - or when they have the chance - completely hiding crimes that take place on or near campus.

The new normal is for everyone to day “it’s a random incident” so as not to piss Rahm off.

Of course, Northwestern Hospital has no choice but to call it a "random incident". To say "This is yet another symptom of moral decay and a collapsing social order that threatens life in a once-great city" is just too lengthy of a soundbite. And too true.

You jest but the city is going to have to find ways to spend the windfall from the trump economic boom, so.
FWIW ... this was not at the University, but at the Hospital. They are separate and have been for a while now.
Intersting that the rounds hit up on the 4th floor. Given the high lobby, this might be closer to 6 floors up. The ER is directly across the street and security guards often stand outside in the overnight hours. Possible that we'll learn more about this one ...

Yeah, totally "random" as if the bullets just appeared out of space and time, and pooooof, crash, bing, bang, boom, zap and crashed right through the window that just happened, randomly, to be in the path of the bullet...
*head shake* Ummm, bullshit! Some asshole fired those things - either missed another asshole and hit the hospital, or did it on purpose. Either way - that's a problem.
And forget the bulletproof windows - what about the wood houses with ultra thin siding? That's not bulletproof.
Northwestern "Random incident" that's why they have private security on elevators and walking the halls. That place has random incidents happening all the time. Be careful!
Northwestern hospital is a pretty good hotspot for thefts and the area after dark is good for muggings. Students and faculty get robbed to a good degree. Inside the hospital? Lots of theft of patients that Northwestern covers up.
