Texas ExamScam

  • Dallas police officers who took a rigorous exam last year for a shot at being promoted to sergeant will have to try again later, officials said Tuesday.

The integrity of the test had been questioned after a police major who helped shape the exam also coached clients through a test-prep business, reports the Dallas Morning News.

Results from the test, which was offered in November, had been in limbo for several months while police investigated the assessment center portion of the promotional process.

Police Maj. LaToya Porter, who runs a test-prep business to help officers prepare for the sergeant exam, has been under investigation.
A Subject Matter Expert abusing their position to advance those lucky enough, connected enough or willing-to-pay enough for their "expertise" in developing a promotional exam? Who'd have think it?

Not surprised at all. Just like J.B. Pritzker's comments. Democrats go behind the scenes to make sure we're diverse in high ranks. One's merits do not matter. It's a shame but if people knew the truth feelings would get hurt of why some are where they are. Not white, but I'd be pissed if I was the only group not getting special treatment.

Heard there will be no Lts class for a long time due to pressure from the lawsuit the sergeant filed regarding the same thing happening here in Chicago. The only problem is that the connected already got their promotions. Now it’s just the guys that actually studied and scored decent that are left and they are getting F’ed.

Unlike Chicago their city of Houston holds their department
accountable.
They have morals, are honest & fair.
Chicago is full of evil dishonest politicians, a corrupt

Chicago could NEVER admit they dropped the ball.

This is utter bullshit. The Academy does not control nor finds out about promotions until usually Wed-Fri before class starts. (This is why promotional training is so fucked up, they don't have time to prepare).

The Bureau of Patrol finds out from the Supe's Office, who gets permission from City Hall. Any information that the Academy is referring to purely rumors.

Interesting article, but deceptive. First in Illinois the state courts up to the Illinois state Supreme Court would have to decide against us or the Illinois legislature would have to change the law causing a lengthy battle
This FINAL DECISION was made in the First Circuit Court, so it’s not final in any sense. There’s always the appellate courts, the the Supreme Court of the United States
It’s not unusual for a federal court or an appellate courts to make an extreme , controversial decision to later be overturned. Happens all the time in California in liberal states and regions. Happened when trump was first elected and the dems filed cases in the liberal districts later to be overturned. Not a good decision but it’s a looong way off of being implimented

Federal courts have ruled pretty consistently that Congress has no power to make a promise Beyond the current fiscal year because that's all the appropriation is for.

In the long run it's going to come down to how much the taxpayers are willing to pay for these gold-plated pensions for public employees. When it didn't cost much nobody cared. Now that is starting to suck the life out of the state people are starting to care. I don't know where it goes but in the long run there's only so much money you can suck out of the taxpayers.

And, Charlie Williams was the Fight ExamScam hard-charging leader until they bought him off. He rocketed up through the ranks before retiring with a bloated pension and subsequently being hired as the S&S Commissioner for six years at $160K a year. ExamScam did well for Charlie Williams, but he was the only one it helped. I still have the envelope for Fight ExamScam donations that was sent to me. The envelope is addressed to Charlie Williams at his home address. I smelled a rat from the beginning. Donations only helped one person and that was Charlie Williams.

maybe and maybe not. I have heard comments from people who claim they are in the know and they believe the city will take the position that each pension fund stands on its own and the city has no obligation to fund the pension fund beyond what state law calls for. When the funds run out of money they run out of money. Obviously this issue will then end up in court and no telling how a judge would rule
