Snowmageddon!!!!

You'd think it never snowed in Chicago.

Drive careful boys and girls.

Maybe help someone on the block clear off their sidewalks, stairs or alley.

Remember Baltimore?

Remember how they tried to railroad those seven innocent police officers?

Baltimore will no longer pay court ordered civil judgments against police officers.
Police officers will be required to pay any punitive damages from civil cases.

Speaking of snow jobs did you see that Tribune article about the woman who finally remembered she got sexually assaulted by some seargent back in the .....she couldn't remember the decade but she got the century right. Anyway it was over 30 years ago so she showed up at some meeting with 50 others, who apparently are free on work days too, crying her tale of woe, and no doubt expecting the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Listen nobody has compassion for woman sexually abused more then I but for Christ's sake you have to report it within a few decades of when it happens and cops are innocent until proven guilty too. This fucking Rahm and Prickster, and the rest of them, are so shaky about losing the /01 or /04 votes they will do anything to pander to any shake down artist out there. After all they are all rich anyways and its the working suckers money they are handing out.

And the Tribunes so called Police reporter Jeremy Gorner is a no good SOB. Its one "trash the cops" clickbait story after another.

I dont even know how you guys can put on the uniform and go out there any longer. Its really gone beyond insane. Dont get hurt out there. In anyway, for anyone. You Hero's put the breaks on, your not the ones going to be promoted for the work you do and your only exposing yourself to all kinds of trouble for people who think you are garbage.

There are 2 types of snow in Chicago. The light fluffy snow you can sweep with a broom and wet heavy stuff aka heart attack snow.

I'm sure that certain parts of the city will be howling about their side streets & sidewalks weren't plowed. Where are they in such a hurry to get to? Since when is shoveling your sidewalk not your responsible?
Probably be like the 'big blizzard' when City Hall sought out City employees to shovel out CTA Bus stops. Every brown-nosed volunteer ended up shoveling CTA bus stops/sidewalks in 'helpless' neighborhoods.

Nowadays if it might snow a inch these idiots issue a "winter storm warning". It used to be, it just snowed. And if it snowed a lot and there was a lot of wind, it was a blizzard. I remember Mayor Richie Daley in a rare moment of lucidity chastising the Chicago media, "Look. This is Chicago. It's supposed to snow".

I lived in Beverly. Say what you want, I still hate Mt. Greenwood. I don't care how great your neighbors are. I got home after 3rd watch, just barely missing a late arrest, only to find out my neighbor took his snow blower to my drive and sidewalk. This is after he hit it this morning before I came out, then helped me and my son clear the rest that was left around 10am. I'll always appreciate great neighbors but I'm familiar enough with Mt. Greenwood to say spare me.

Sgt in 009 is becoming a cancer to the watch. His piss poor attempt to gain recognition from the brass is pitting blue shirts against each other by shaming senior officers and making them check off last when they don't come in with activity. In a time when everyone is demoralizing us (and some of our own adding to those preconceived notions), I find it incredibly frustrating to see white shirts pulling this kind of garbage. I don't understand how these guys think it's a bright idea to shame officers into bringing in activity when the basic functions of patrol is to respond, report, and arrest on signed complaints. Anything else officers do should be considered a bonus, especially in today's times.

Please stop it. You two were dumped because you did nothing and then tried to put slips in. How many times were you two given a second chance. Furlough slips mysteriously disappear, you open lie to supervisors and get caught, let’s not forget the Christmas party debacle where you were lucky to still have a spot let alone not get arrested. Everyone was told they are great, that they will get overtime and that they will still get cars. Same stuff, different boss.

These days management should be thankful people show up for rollcall.

The new spelling is "row call" for those who literally didn't get the memo.

I’m sorry about the troubles in 009, but seriously?

“These Days management should be thankful people show up for rollcall”?
Last time I checked, roll call was just about one of the only things you HAVE to do on this job, management shouldn’t be thankful for that, it’s what you are paid to do.

One of the only other things you HAVE to do is check off. And if a Sgt is making you “check off last”, can I inform you that in a room full of people, not all can check off first. Check off is a set time, and it can’t go any later than that.

Please spare me the “big bad Sgt makes me check off 40 seconds later than everyone else!”
If it’s that bad in 009, try just about any other district in area central or area south to get a taste of REAL problems.

Sounds like a jackass in 009, though 009 has plenty of jeep driving "real police wonders" that still get involved in ghetto nonsense. To the senior officers stay the course your future is safe. Those other idiots not so much

Congratulations! It's not an easy decision, to leave a job you've invested some time into, but anywhere but here is a better choice these days. Best wishes for a long and happy career.

That winter of '78/79 was one of the worst. For a few days, we had 3 man cars.We would drive to a job and park on the closest main street. One guy would stay with the car, and the other 2 would hoof through the snow to save the marriage or take some useless report.

When the job was fun!!!!!

2/10/2018 06:40:00 AM

And, the streets were so snowbound, most times it was physically impossible to get to, or very near, the address of assignment. One drove the squad to as close to the call as possible and stayed with the vehicle, while two walked to the call. There was only two ruts in the middle of the busier streets for traffic and no ruts yet on the residential streets, so the squad stayed where it stopped in the ruts and, there was so much snow that once you stopped the squad, it was stuck. When the two returned from the call, they had to push the squad and then catch up to jump inside once the forward motion was restored. The older guy drove while the younger guys pushed. There was a load of comical slipping and sliding. A couple of the times, the squad was so stuck, two pushers were not enough. Some civilians responded to the sound of spinning tires and gave a hand, and we did the same for the occasional, hopelessly stranded civilian vehicle.

Lived, as in "once upon a time" and "you ain't there now"? Romanticize it all you want from wherever you now reside. I'll take Mount Greenwood over Beverwood all day long.

 The son of Duke said...

These days management should be thankful people show up for rollcall.

2/10/2018 03:35:00 AM

How much of a miserable fuck do you have to be to complain about something like this? Checkoff takes all of 90 seconds if someone forgot a pen. You're crying because the Sgt makes you checkoff at seconds 85-90? I hope you aren't late for dinner with this mean Sgt ruining your day by making you wait such a long time to write a bunch of zeros on the checkoff sheet. You're being "shamed" and "demoralized" by having to checkoff last? Grow some balls. As a "senior officer," you shouldn't be such a whiny snowflake. I assume you're still checking off before the time you're supposed to be checking off. You'll probably have a full-on tantrum if we have to swipe in and out like the rumors are saying. Suck it up and get to the back of the line.

This was nothing.

The winters of '78/'79, '80/'81 & '81/'82 were spectacular.

Heavy snowfalls, blizzard winds, sub zero Fahrenheit temps, you name it, these 3 winter seasons had it. Fucking glorious.

Not knocking the Godfather of Winters, '67/'68, that was an adolescent's fucking winter wet dream.....walking up the snow onto the neighbor's garage roof.....king of the snow hill, baby!!!!! And that snow was snowball packing gold!!!!!

So......today.....did it snow???? I hadn't noticed.......

True. There's just so damned much of it coming down and replacing whatever gets shoveled.
Rain Thursday. It'll be gone in a minute or two.

I sure hope you work a one man car because I’d hate to be stuck with you for 8 hours and 40 seconds. That I’m sure is not the only thing you complain about all day. Guys that I work with laughed when I read this to them. Everyone shook their head and said they can’t believe the job has come to this.

Post you and your guys star numbers so we know who the back stabbers are. Activity is something you do for yourself or the community, not to make you and or your Sgt look good. Checking off early or first had nothing to do with the posters point. But that’s ok, it’s only expected to go over the head a self serving asshole such as you and your hard charging pals.
