This is no BS. But years ago at a south suburban dept. I worked at we arrested John Dude on a Sunday afternoon for retail theft, resisting, and possession of a controlled substance. At the time our department was under a federal mandate to "seek more minority hires".
we didn;t have to hire them, but we had to advertise in major minority media for "qualified" applicants. The guy in lock gave John Dude his property back, including his shoe laces. He also gave him an application for patrol officer and told him to turn it in at the front desk before he left. Dude was sitting there with his plastic bag of property, at the base of our radio tower on the concrete slab filling out the application. Turned it in. Never made the department. This was early 1990's. Wonder where he's working now.
I am retired, but today me and my wife went to a part of the city we once lived to eat a restaurant given we left this shithole. Some asshole disregarded a stop sign, and there was a squad at the intersection... my wife says “why didn’t they pull them over” my response was, “would you pull them over”.. she said “nope, not after seeing what the city does if the stop goes bad”... there you go.....

Arena folded like a lawn chair at a community meeting in St. Johns Lutheran church when a citizen asked him in front of the Commander why he put so many CR's against po's. He stood there silent. He was asked again and stood silent still. The commander had to save his ass and said the meeting wasn't about politics. Lol. The hell it isn't!
Arena tried to deny the fact that he got the CR #'s and hides behind his girlfriend to file the complaints. He's mad at the blog for calling him out and wants the blog punished for breaking the story. Welcome to Nazi occupied Chicago.

This is really great news hope they start to leave now, this is great for America! Now they can come back legally and pay the bills like every American! Every department in America is concerned about diversity and minority hiring. Nothing new. If you are black and college educated, you can do better than this, that is one problem for hiring, change. There are more blacks in cook county than any other county in America. We can build a diverse department easily. We can tap hispanic and other groups for sufficient numbers as well. Chicago can achieve this with a little honesty and a little effort.

If a politician is present it's about politics.
Arena's newfound interest in policing is politics.
For example. 016 & Ald. Sposato scheduled a 1/19 outdoor roll call at Berteau & Laramie due to gang gunfire in the vicinity the previous month. Sensing political opportunity, Arena latched on as a "sponsor" as beat 1624 straddles both wards. Nick was there early, conversing with citizens & patrol officers. Scheduled start of 6 PM came, no Arena. He strolled over from his nearby manse with his fancy dog 10 minutes latter. He was allowed to speak, expressing his "support for our hard working officers". His posse of groupies then arrived. Notable was the lack of conversation between officers & Arena. One day later the carjacking of grandma at St. Johns. Then another outdoor roll call at that location. No groupies. Just his "chief of staff". The heat was on him there.
Also notable. When crime was brought up at the 5150 meeting at Branch Church 1 year ago Arena stated he "knows what is going on with crime because I go to CompStat meetings. You know, the come to Jesus meetings.". This from an elected official that can't be bothered with CAPS meetings with citizens even in the beat in which he lives.
Again. Politics. Not public safety & effective policing.
For 7 years this character Arena has downplayed crime incidents in the ward, especially around Sicks Corners, because it doesn't fit with his liberal narrative. Only when he sees political opportunity does he take an interest. Arena is a phony.

Nothing new. (Indeed, the only honest assertion in your entire post. There is not a thing new about politicians, and there minions, wanting to gain power, retain power and use power to compel.)
If you are black and college educated, you can do better than this, that is one problem for hiring, change. (If you are human, crave the power to compel, and are as innately devoid of morals as politicians, why, yes, you can be more successful than hood rat thugs at imposing your will upon others. Indeed, under cover of authority, this is the outcome of racist intent, and I am referring to racist intent held by all racists, whatever their claim to skin colored indentity.)

Here's Alderman Asshole Arena's response to filing complaints against any officer that doesn't agree with him. Sorry for posting the entire article, I could't get the posted Facebook link to work. He has to hide behind his female employee after denying that he even filed it. At the end he states that if you have any questions to call his office, I'm sure you boys and girls have plenty.

As you may have heard, at my direction a member of my staff recently filed a set of complaints with the Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA). I would like to explain what led to those filings.
During recent conversations surrounding affordable housing for veterans and the disabled, several members of the Chicago Police Department made comments on social media about those who would reside in such housing that many members of our community found offensive and dehumanizing. At my direction, a member of my staff fulfilled her ethical obligation to report these comments through the appropriate channels--the City of Chicago Inspector General’s Office--who then submitted them to COPA.
The Chicago Police Department has clear rules regarding the private use of social media, and how that private use reflects on the department as a whole. At a time when police leadership is working to restore the public’s trust in CPD, inappropriate comments by members of the force undermine that necessary work.
As both a private citizen and elected official, I have, and always will, stand firmly with our police officers who hold themselves to the high standards they swore to uphold. The comments made by a few officers in a public setting make it harder for all officers to do their job of protecting all Chicagoans.
I have the utmost confidence in the leadership at CPD and COPA investigators to review these complaints and respond appropriately. As always, please don’t hesitate to contact my office if you have any questions or concerns.
