Carjacking Foiled
- Carjackers picked the wrong man in Streeterville Friday night.
Three juveniles, the youngest 14, are now in custody after attempting to steal the car of a retired Chicago police officer.
At the Double Tree Hotel, from their room on the 9th floor, Sherry Randle and Ricky Fobbs can pinpoint the spot where they became victims of an attempted carjacking.
Seems he left Chicago for the greener pastures of Texas, and came home just to be jacked:
- “My reaction was I gotta stop him,” says Fobbs. “I chased down the car, snatched the passenger and jumped in the car.”
Most would probably not react that way.
But Fobbs is a Texas Marshal from Dallas and a retired Chicago police officer who worked in Streeterville.
With 20 years on the force, the training kicked in.

The real story that should be told is that hours after the incident, in which not one but three offenders were arrested (two co offenders of the first) caught by 007 district personnel with assistance from PH2,5190 and Onstar, all three carjacking youths were not detained and sent to the Audi but released to guardians so that they could get fresh sleep and wake up and do it all over the next day. Unfuckinbelievable however so typical in Prickwinkle’s cook county juvenile justice system.
Hmm, and the best thing is that he can do the policing the way he wants- within the law- and CPD can't do shit to him.

The teen carjacker that was arrested on this incident was arrested again last night in 007 for a stolen car and a gun. Gotta love Cook County.

After reading these posts anyone who votes any judge for retention is a total fool. I hope they or someone in their families has a violent experience with some of these criminals that are turned loose by the justice system. It's the judges that fail to punish those that have been convicted of criminal activity that are the root of the problem. Forget the police who don't arrest, forget the ASA who won't prosecute, blame the judges who have a guilty body in front of them and do nothing but put them back on the street. Driving into the south Loop everyday for work and parking from NW Indiana I know how dangerous it is when I witness these shitheads in my car when I am at stoplights or in traffic looking for victims. I conceal carry with an Indiana permit because I will not be another victim. I don't care about my car or what's inside, but I care about my physical safety and not being permanently injured or disabled. Illinois will never issue out of state concealed carry permits and National Concealed Carry is stalled in Congress. Only two more years of work before I retire to Arizona. I used to live in Lincoln Park but moved five years ago because of the increase in crime. The Dindu's have truly f..... up what was once a great city that I grew up in. Great to hear, I'm retired and constantly on guard for wrong doers. Carry a 45acp all the time with extra ammo and a large folder. I worked in Robbery years ago and have some insight into the stick-up man's mentality. Nothing has changed in that regard, other then the epidemic of carjackings. I keep my vehicle at a good distance while stopped in traffic, to maneuver if needed, back into my garage, and sit with my back against the wall in restaurants. There's other precautions I do, but the point, you have to be aware of your surroundings all of the time. Have a great day and good hunting.

For example, last Friday night, three offenders were charged with an attempted carjacking in Streeterville. This incident happened around 7:00 pm when the victim left his car running outside a hotel while he unloaded luggage. At 14, 15 and 17 years of age, the offenders have numerous arrests already in their case files. Unbeknownst to the carjackers, the victim was a retired police officer.
Realizing he was in the midst of a carjacking, the retired officer reacted and succeeded in pinning down one of the suspects. Thankfully, all three suspects involved in this case were subsequently apprehended.
You would think that because they all face felony charges, including attempted aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and vehicular hijacking, that they would have been held in detention while their cases were reviewed and appropriate monitoring established.
This did not happen. All three suspects were released, and not 48 hours later one of them was observed in yet another carjacked vehicle. A brief pursuit ensued and the suspect crashed the vehicle. He was armed with a loaded gun.
Don't mess with a U.S. Marshall from Dallas.
I'm just glad the retired guy is OK. So I heard all the great brains of Chicago area Law Enforcement are putting their collective IQ's together over this car jack situation. There was a big increase in Jan. 18 over last Jan., which had a huge increase over the Jan. before it. And on and on.

Nonsense. If the judges did their job these animals would have been locked up, unable to offend a second time within 48 hours. The courts are the problem here, along with the politicians. The cops make the arrest, and the courts let them go.
Years ago the criminals used to steal your license plates and put them on their own cars before committing a crime--now they just take your whole car! Are most of the vehicles in carjackings taken for joy rides, or used to commit other crimes?

If you smoke somebody or injure them, even if you are justified, the dude's family will come out of the woodwork and sue you. In that case, without insurance, everything you own and have invested is in jeopardy, not only to pay for a judgement, but to pay for your legal defense. Unless you are independently wealthy, you are looking at losing everything you worked to obtain. Also, even if you are insured, you are on your own should your action(s) be deemed not justified. The insurance company will walk away from you.

Good play. Play the stocks and the mutual funds in a regular account where you get the tax advantage of the maximum capital gains tax of 20% when selling instead of paying the higher tax rate when withdrawing from deferred which is then taxed as ordinary income
With our pension and most deductions gone in retirement that would be at least the 28% rate
