Nice Camera Room

The City just spent how many millions on cameras, re-wiring radio rooms, installing pretty expensive routers / docking stations? And someone had to spend $5 for a piece of plastic for this:

Nothing like a leaky police station.

I suggest the watch REP put in a safety complaint then notify 311 that no city permit has been pulled to do electrical work.

If you get a day for not paying a parking ticket what should be the punishment for a commander allowing illegal construction in a building that houses prisoners?

SUCkS when merits have to follow rules...

I don’t know the location or age of this district station, but any private sector developer/commercial property owner gets a 20-year roof warranty from both the manufacturer of the roofing material AND the GC and subcontractor that installed it.

Call the building inspector. Hey I drove by the 8th district the other day. Couldn't help but notice the southeast corner of the building still hasn't been fixed from when someone drove thru it. Wtf rahm?

I'm a firefighter and have to go into a garage where we keep spare vehicle. The police department keeps their Command Vans, light truck, some big suburban with a Sattilite dish on it. Well the roof leaks real bad where the power pole is an where they plug the trucks into. Water pools around on the floor and somebody is going to get electrocuted. The building owner won't fix it and the female in charge of buildings for CPD, BONNIE could give 2 shits. This building is located at 1201 s. CAMPBELL. PLEASE SEND HELP!!!!!

Calling out another contractor to spend more city money when the building engineer should have corrected this problem as soon as it occurred. City building engineers are useless and take absolutely zero pride in maintaining the facilities they are assigned to. They will be the next privatization for the city. Sad part is that all they had to do is the job they are paid to do.

What’s the problem?
It’s double wrapped...with orange electrical tape.

Too bad the radio room personnel will have to wait until June for a fix.
That’s when the plastic overhead light diffuser and orange tape will be replaced with a galvanized steel trough and spring clamps.
In the meantime should a Feb thaw come on strong, just put on a yellow slicker like the Gorton’s Fish stick man when you handle the tasers and cams.

Don’t blame low-bid on Walsh Construction, they only give campaign donations to RahmShanks.

Speaking of paving and whatnot...

Had a chat years ago with a contractor about
why the asphalt used by Chicago to pave the
streets is shitty to the point that on consecutive
hot summer days, CTA buses cut actual ruts in the
stuff at bus stops.

Hence all the concrete pads being installed
at bus stops around the city.

It's mostly the cheap, poor quality, local limestone
aggregate.

This part of the U.S. sits on the remains of a vast
coral reef so anything harder/more durable than the
native limestone has to be trucked/barged in.

As an aside, the eastern Great Lakes (Erie, Huron, Ontario)
sit on top of immense salt mines which are another remnant
of the inland tropical sea that covered this area some
quarter billion years ago.

Interesting stuff...

Sure there is still BROWN SOIL from the junkyard that was there.35th and Michigan same sinking problem . sURE THERE HAVE BEEN PROBLEMS IN EVERY STATION BUILT IN LAST 20 YEARS. Why hasn t any contractor been held accountable. Thats what happens when u use lowest bidder in a connected company.

The useless 399 stationery engineers (although I will admit that they aren't assigned to a district anymore)do not and never have kept up with the building upkeep that they are supposed to. Seriously, one of them got a CR# on a district sgt. when he put up clips to hang your belt and jacket on in the male and female restrooms behind the desk area. Even though requests had been repeatedly requested from said "engineer". I blame them and the connected builders of the new stations.

That's because they had unions and apprenticeship
programs. You were'nt an XYZ until the older guy
in charge of you said so. Also, they didn't smoke
dope 100 years ago. They worked hard and looked
forward to and evening at home with classic radio
programs. Those shows had better scripts, sound
effects, and music than the crap put on during the
Toilet Bowl.

You should see the leaks and assorted building problems in 002/Area Central. Add in the makeshift homeless shelter/soup kitchen in the lobby and you have what appears to be a post apocalyptic scene from Mad Max. The smell created is as if everyone in the lobby consumed rotten food mixed with ground up, decomposing farm animals, then proceeded to defecate on one another.
