$10 Grand?
- The “going rate” for a job in Cook County Circuit Court Clerk Dorothy Brown’s office was about $10,000, an employee once told investigators.
A “bagman” allegedly collected money for the clerk. And her employees generally had the impression that “financial benefits to the clerk could result in securing promotions,” according to documents filed by federal prosecutors.
The allegations revealed in the newly filed documents may date back at least to 2015. But they also indicate the feds are still conducting “an ongoing and active criminal investigation” which has involved allegations of lies told to a grand jury, bribery, wire fraud and extortion.
We've heard (repeatedly) that promotions are still for sale across a wide range of city positions, as long as you promise to "contribute" a set percentage back to the Machine. But actually selling jobs? We thought that went out in the 1970's.

Just indict her, already. It’s been 5 years.
70’s ? Hell Pritzker was shopping not all that long ago.
WTH, SCC! I've been waiting for 3 years for this opportunity!
But Emanuel had the Shakman decree thrown out!
"We thought that went out in the 1970's."
It still exists.......
It is not possible to be unaware of the absolute sameness between cash changing hands and:
1. Required political "contributions"
2. Required leg work "campaigning"
3. Required quid pro quo in favors, both finacial and "other"
4. Required subservance to whatever the "big dogs" want this day, week, month, etc.
5. Required contracts to "favored" businesses
6. Required "charitable" contributions to designated "charities"
7. Required bullshit spewing to the fake news
8. Required "settlements" agreed to be doled out to designated "attorneys"
9. Required harassments of non participating in the grifting anyones
10. Required kickbacks via any and all of the above methods
Not an all inclusive list by any means......
So, buying a job, promotion, etc., not merely not a thing of the past.......
It's the business of "fuck you, pay me" institutionalized.....
Our city and county governments........doing their best for (to) the suckers for generations......
Shit, if only it was that easy.
I look good in white shirts and have plenty of spare cash.
It's "DA CHICAGO WAY"
It is the democratic way. Always has been in this shit city run by the democrats.
And Blago still weeps
I applied for CFD and CPD in the early 80s, but I was a poor Latino Who didnt have 5K for the Alderman, So I finally got on 17 years later, Gracias Dios Mio.
Lets not forget the 1985 Firemans test When Harold was the Mayor and hundreds of light skinned persons were intentionally failed at the Fire Academy,Hey you didnt touch the tip of the ladder do it again.
everything old is new again...
pet rock anyone?
This should get very interesting.
Allegations surrounding her office have been surfacing for years.
You have to think where there’s continuing smoke there’s likely a fire.
10k, I can sell a bitcoin I bought at 6k... just let me know the where that guy is👍. Just get me one of those easy jobs... nothing ball breaking.
Ten grand in tables to the 19th Ward for merit promotion to Sgt...same with Ed Burke sponsorship..just in first year of pension the original investment is returned. Why be surprised, look at our department. Politicians, or revruns. Dropped resume to Burke who then hand delivered to the first deputy...morally wrong, financially worth it...
Brown and her husband got a ton of dough from former Gov. Quinn under the anti-gang grant, over 50 million, that he passed out trying for re-election. Most of that money has not been accounted for. Brown's husband passes himself off as some sort of counselor and rakes in plenty of dough. Why people keep on voting for her is beyond me. Her office is probably the worst run in the state and full of patronage. In the mean time, this government servant and her husband have become wealthy ( pretty much the case with all democratic elected officials).
"and blago still weeps"
sure the governor was a creep but 14 years? was it secrets he knew or you mess with the bull you get the horn? jess jack got a year in the puzzle factory for far more serious crimes. bangers use guns with their crimes and they get a bracelet only to get busted over and over. protected criminals running the city and state are the ones who deserve 14 years. if i remember correctly, they never charged him with taking a nickel. besides that piece of garbage father in law should have helped his daughter and grandchildren because he had the cash and influence. no matter what you think of Rod. its my opinion he was sentenced to 10 years to many. may the judge see his co-conspirators in hell.
I'm so glad I own my own business.
Nothing to see here. She is virtually untouchable. The "community" would be outraged if she were indicted or removed from office. Election be coming. Rahm ain't gonna mess with his base
I think they're waiting for her to die before they conclude their investigation...THEN WATCH OUT what they found....
Back in 1974, The going rate was $5,000....I mean who had that kind of $$$$ back then. Even my cousin who was a Lt. and Quinns driver at thew time, couldn't get the price lower. So I became a Cop some years later....
Does this mean your out of a job if you paid Dorothy the 10 grand?
Nothing like scorning a sore loser to cause an investigation.
Makes you wonder how the Fed took the case and not the blind melon Inspector General.
So how long have they been hounding this hack, 5 years ???
The Fed attempting to connect some of the dots and there must be plenty to sort through.
But it’s likely they will not find more than just her and an underling.
We need Recall of Elected Officials in Shithole Corrupt Cook County Chicago.
Soon to.be charged the turm is about to run out that is how the goverment works
gee a thief in Chicago politics, who would have thought
I heard about this in the last century. Some things just don't change!
Still just small fish to fry by the fbi, where are any charges on the grand standing past arrests they have made for the media, pathetic empty holstered secretaries...
Apparently Madigan never told her about the importance of Buffers.
Go on the political donations website posted here a couple days back and you will see employees names making the monthly kickbacks to Friends of Dorothy Brown campaign fund. This isn't news, anybody in the city wants to get a city or state job or move up the ranks is always making the monthly contribution to these funds. Now all you gotta do is type in a name and it shows you how much and the date. This blew up their game a little bit but it still goes on.
Shit at least promotions on Cpd are free you know none of these cheap coppers paid for any of the test answers. I Do remember cop from 008 doing free electrical work for commander biff for a merit Sgt spot though.
Pony up you unqualified bitches.
Now, kees me you fool!!!!
$10K is cheap by Clinton standards; donations to the Clinton Foundation had to be in the neighborhood of $500K to secure a high level gubmint position.
Such a small price to pay for financial security.
Pensionable would be even sweeter!
They were investing her and her husband for years. The wheels of justice move real slow when it comes to politicians in Illinois. So much corruption
She is just 1 of the many to be a commander and up minimum $25,000 buy in to your political sponsor, and if your in you also make yearly "contributions" and "volunteer" at many events! Ever been to a political golf outing? If not I have been there and watched so many cpd "bosses" and so many elected clowns and of course many are loaded with "judges" who are there to pay their "tax" and try to make it look legitimate! Not sure what going rate is here for captain, lieutenant(That could be sleeping with the big boss?),sergeant and the rest all the way up and down the chain! You can spend sometime here connecting the dots but many give under shadow names and hide but some put their names here:
https://www.elections.il.gov/CampaignDisclosure/ContributionsSearchByCandidates.aspx
The forgotten men and women are still forgotten and will be forgotten for the foreseeable future! where are the feds? Trump talked about Chicago crime constantly many believed he would do something now "quiet Donald" has done nothing here! can it be he is scared of of rahm?

Umm, nobody cares - so we will forget it. It's SCC, last C is for Cop, go back to SCF.
Question for you.....How does the most boring story ever told begin..??? "The one time at the firehouse..."
BOB Event & Production
"well, the world need ditch diggers too"
Caddyshack ,1984
Yea but there is always promotions via the "merit" system.
It's just the way things are done in third world communist coutries.
J.J.
Can hardly wait to see this dirty bitch put in prison along with her thefing ass old man Benton “Crook” Cook . May they both rot in hell!
Brown was stealing with both hands! It just shows you in certain communities, if you are under a cloud of Federal Investigation you can still get elected!
I always scribbled her name as dorthy Black on court papers. Never got called once on my 'error'.
WHOA!!! .... SCC, you should have given a Warning that there'd be a photo at the link.
That is one Homely woman! (I can never unsee that)
I'd pay $10 Grand just so I'd never have to look at her.
$10K for a County job? Sounds like a great deal!!
...but I am a little short of cash right now. Could I make payments as we go?? How about a payroll deduction plan?
Or hire me and I will get a loan from the Credit Union.
If hired do I actually have to show up? And (gulp) do I have to any work?

I got on the CPD in the early 80’s by just taking and passing the test and no one asked me for a dime. I think your story is total BS! Why would someone even go to an alderman for this? Were you unable to pass the test so you tried to buy your way on?
no more shakman protection
look at the privatization

Things take time. Heck she started computerizing court records 17 years ago. Been asking for extensions every 6 months
I love the way people from other parts of the country look at you, astounded, when you explain how we do things here.
When I worked for the sheriffs dept my sgt told us he paid $25,000 to make sgt. He said he never regretted it and made the mo ey back in 1 year.
There is no one who could or will clean up this shit.
Why is it a shocker? The CPD Lt exam investigation went no where.. the FBI won’t do a thing about it because everyone at city hall would be walking out in handcuffs..
Thankfully, this doesn't happen in the Illinois court system.

No surprise. The koolaidians only get “worked up” when they hear trump and Russia. This place can’t save itself from itself. They stumble around wild eyed with teeth clinched mumbling collusion...you can’t make this 💩up.

Funniest comment today. I read it twice. Actually, more than that. 😂😂
When I retired from CPD I had to down to Dorothy Brown's office to get some paperwork for the Police Pension Board. The people who work there are really arrogrant, lazy and stupid. You stand in line forever and to get any court documents you fill out some forms and present them back to a clerk. They then go and come back with a file folder which they give to you. You then are told if you want copies you have to make them on a Xerox machine in the public area. Now you have to stand in line again to photostat each page one by one and you have to have money to put in the machine. When I got the file and got over to the machine I noticed they gave me the wrong file. So now I have to go back and stand in line again. When I tell the clerk it's the wrong file they says it's my fault that I should have not taken the wrong file. They don't give you time to dig through the folder at the desk. So the folder they gave me was from somebody else with the same name. So I asked to see a supervisor which was a waste because they just sided with the clerk. I finally got my folder. What I noticed was the documents looked like they were the original documents from the courts. So if I was criminal and I wanted to see a court file I could just not come back with the file. This system seems to be antiquated, why aren't the files computerized? The other thing I noticed was that there men and women in suits requesting court files and the clerks just fawned all over them. Gee who might they be and what could be going on, I wonder?!!!!!!!!! Plus they need to get rid of those photos of Dorothy on the walls, they gave me vertigo.
Up into the 60s and even into the 70s it was very hard to get a job working for the city of Chicago unless you had a political sponsor. Most often it was a Precinct captain. Sometimes it was a reward other times the jobs were more or less openly sold. It was just about impossible to get into the police department or Fire Department without a sponsor. It is now possible to get a city job without a sponsor but it's a lot easier if you have one.
It was not that long ago that ghost pay rollers were common. People were put on the City payroll but never actually worked. In some cases it turned out that an aldermen had a wife or relative that was getting a paycheck for not showing up. Sometimes it was not even clear that the person actually even existed that had been hired. Some of that has gone away because the federal government has gotten better at making sure that you actually exist before you can be hired.
came out of the navy in 1960 and guy turned me onto becoming a stationary engineer.had to go see a old country turkey that ran the show and he wanted 2,000 1960 dollars, was going to do it but old timer i confided in said this guy was a total rummy who would forget it once he got the money or say he kicked it upstairs and didn't hear nothing back, it turned out the right thing i never did,old fucker checked out as a total aalkie that bled to death internally, the funny part was that ppl i talked to that attended his funeral said he m,ust of had 15 priests knocking each other off the alter saying his mass, probably looking to get close to 1st search.

Let the funk fly so it won't all
be a single track narrative about

The reason the files aren’t computerized is that for 17 years Dorothy Brown hasn’t done it. She was just in court asking for more time to get the files computerized 17 years.

These rumors have been around for awhile.... yet she keeps getting re-elected.
Way to go Sheeple. You ought to be proud of yourselves.
Plus they need to get rid of those photos of Dorothy on the walls, they gave me vertigo.
Try visiting S.A. office. Not like Anita was anything great but she had a tasteful photo of herself AND the office staff from 5th dist on the wall. Now it's all about mez up there by her lonesome. m9re
I'll believe it, when the Fed's are dragging her out in shackles.
When I worked at the state under so called clean Edgar I was extorted by an outfit connected bagman state employee (recently retired in scandal) to pay $1500 in tickets for his committeemans fundraiser. He said Janis Cellini was inquiring about my clout. After many discussions complaints with state and federal officials nothing happened including the Republican InspectorGeneral.
