$10 Grand?

  • The “going rate” for a job in Cook County Circuit Court Clerk Dorothy Brown’s office was about $10,000, an employee once told investigators.

A “bagman” allegedly collected money for the clerk. And her employees generally had the impression that “financial benefits to the clerk could result in securing promotions,” according to documents filed by federal prosecutors.

The allegations revealed in the newly filed documents may date back at least to 2015. But they also indicate the feds are still conducting “an ongoing and active criminal investigation” which has involved allegations of lies told to a grand jury, bribery, wire fraud and extortion.
We've heard (repeatedly) that promotions are still for sale across a wide range of city positions, as long as you promise to "contribute" a set percentage back to the Machine. But actually selling jobs? We thought that went out in the 1970's.

It is not possible to be unaware of the absolute sameness between cash changing hands and:

1. Required political "contributions"

2. Required leg work "campaigning"

3. Required quid pro quo in favors, both finacial and "other"

4. Required subservance to whatever the "big dogs" want this day, week, month, etc.

5. Required contracts to "favored" businesses

6. Required "charitable" contributions to designated "charities"

7. Required bullshit spewing to the fake news

8. Required "settlements" agreed to be doled out to designated "attorneys"

9. Required harassments of non participating in the grifting anyones

10. Required kickbacks via any and all of the above methods

Not an all inclusive list by any means......

So, buying a job, promotion, etc., not merely not a thing of the past.......

It's the business of "fuck you, pay me" institutionalized.....

Our city and county governments........doing their best for (to) the suckers for generations......

Brown and her husband got a ton of dough from former Gov. Quinn under the anti-gang grant, over 50 million, that he passed out trying for re-election. Most of that money has not been accounted for. Brown's husband passes himself off as some sort of counselor and rakes in plenty of dough. Why people keep on voting for her is beyond me. Her office is probably the worst run in the state and full of patronage. In the mean time, this government servant and her husband have become wealthy ( pretty much the case with all democratic elected officials).

Go on the political donations website posted here a couple days back and you will see employees names making the monthly kickbacks to Friends of Dorothy Brown campaign fund. This isn't news, anybody in the city wants to get a city or state job or move up the ranks is always making the monthly contribution to these funds. Now all you gotta do is type in a name and it shows you how much and the date. This blew up their game a little bit but it still goes on.

You can spend sometime here connecting the dots but many give under shadow names and hide but some put their names here:

When I retired from CPD I had to down to Dorothy Brown's office to get some paperwork for the Police Pension Board. The people who work there are really arrogrant, lazy and stupid. You stand in line forever and to get any court documents you fill out some forms and present them back to a clerk. They then go and come back with a file folder which they give to you. You then are told if you want copies you have to make them on a Xerox machine in the public area. Now you have to stand in line again to photostat each page one by one and you have to have money to put in the machine. When I got the file and got over to the machine I noticed they gave me the wrong file. So now I have to go back and stand in line again. When I tell the clerk it's the wrong file they says it's my fault that I should have not taken the wrong file. They don't give you time to dig through the folder at the desk. So the folder they gave me was from somebody else with the same name. So I asked to see a supervisor which was a waste because they just sided with the clerk. I finally got my folder. What I noticed was the documents looked like they were the original documents from the courts. So if I was criminal and I wanted to see a court file I could just not come back with the file. This system seems to be antiquated, why aren't the files computerized? The other thing I noticed was that there men and women in suits requesting court files and the clerks just fawned all over them. Gee who might they be and what could be going on, I wonder?!!!!!!!!! Plus they need to get rid of those photos of Dorothy on the walls, they gave me vertigo.

Up into the 60s and even into the 70s it was very hard to get a job working for the city of Chicago unless you had a political sponsor. Most often it was a Precinct captain. Sometimes it was a reward other times the jobs were more or less openly sold. It was just about impossible to get into the police department or Fire Department without a sponsor. It is now possible to get a city job without a sponsor but it's a lot easier if you have one.

It was not that long ago that ghost pay rollers were common. People were put on the City payroll but never actually worked. In some cases it turned out that an aldermen had a wife or relative that was getting a paycheck for not showing up. Sometimes it was not even clear that the person actually even existed that had been hired. Some of that has gone away because the federal government has gotten better at making sure that you actually exist before you can be hired.

The reason the files aren’t computerized is that for 17 years Dorothy Brown hasn’t done it. She was just in court asking for more time to get the files computerized 17 years.
