Real Sentencing

  • A Glen Ellyn man was sentenced to 23 years in prison for the armed robbery of a convenience store in Carol Stream more than three years ago, DuPage County prosecutors said Thursday.

Johnny Holmes, 26, of the 300 block of Duane Street, had been found guilty at a trial in January of armed robbery and armed violence.

Authorities say Holmes, who was armed with a pistol, and a co-defendant had entered a 7-Eleven store on Geneva Road about 10:15 p.m. on Jan. 26, 2015, and robbed the clerk. Police officers spotted Holmes walking near the store a short time later, and they say he fled when officers tried to speak to him.

The officers apprehended Holmes and began an investigation that resulted in the charges. He had been in custody, held in lieu of $500,000 bail, since his arrest.
Now that's a good sentence.

Armed robbers are just a short hair away from being killers. This should be a standard sentence for an armed robber.

Soon to appear crack pipe bumpin'
Bird of Illogic argumentation against this sentence:

"DuPage County is racist!
They be needin' to arrest as many whites and Asians
as they do blacks and Hispanics to "prove" they
ain't racist!"

Or some similar such hair-on-fire utterances...

The Bird of Illogic flies faster and faster in an ever tightening
circle until it disappears into it's own asshole.

>Flash! - POOT!<

Good sentence indeed, SCC.

Du-Page, Du-Page, Du-Page!
That's how to set bail and run a jail.
It keeps the hard core criminals off
the streets and sends a message to
their cohorts.
We'll never know much crime has migrated
into Chicago because of the catch & release
program and the joke jail. It's almost like a menu.
Age, color, and severity of crime all get factored in.
In Chicago, the people of color in The System are on
a personal crusade to reverse the wrongs of 200 years,
which is not only impossible, it's illegal.

If Chicago wants to tear down the projects and send the tenants to DuPage and Cook County want to give a revolving door to felons this is DuPage Counties way of saying "no thank you" If the felons keep visiting River North Lincoln Park and Boys Town the revolving door may have to stop. It's all about elections and nothing to do with criminal justice.

In Illinois you are supposed to get 6 years for the robbery and then 15 more for the gun.

Now, if your are a juvenile in Cook Co. you get probation. That's not sarcasm. That's 100% true, maybe not in all cases but in some.
