Other Fireworks

  • Chicago police shot and killed a man on the West Side Tuesday night after officials said he confronted officers with a gun during a chase.

Tactical officers with the 11th District had responded to a report of a person with a gun just before 8 p.m. in the 4700 block of West Fulton Street in the West Garfield Park neighborhood, Chicago police said.

When they arrived, the officers saw a man with a gun and chased him on foot, according to a statement from the Civilian Office of Police Accountability, which investigates shootings by police. “During the pursuit, officers discharged their firearms. The civilian subsequently died,” COPA said in the statement, releasing no other details.
So now COPA is releasing statements? That's interesting. We'll see where this leads.

Good job by the involved officers.

The article also says this is the third shooting in two days:
  • The shooting is the third by Chicago police in two days.

Early Wednesday, officers exchanged gunfire with a man in South Austin but no one was hit.

Around 2:40 a.m. Wednesday, a 21-year-old man was taken into custody after police said he fired at officers as he ran from them on the West Side.
And the failed ambush we noted a couple of days ago. be careful out there - it isn't a game.

The "offender subsequently" died, he relinquished being a citizen when he refused to drop the gun. ♠️

THE CIVILIAN ?

I doubt a civilized individual would run from the Police with a weapon.

Don't worry! We may not hear about all the muggings, rapes, thefts and murders happening downtown and on the north side, but the mainstream media is more than happy to announce "every" police involved shooting, not only in Chicago, but across the country!

Glad to hear the Officers are unharmed and will be going home safely.

Once again in the news briefing stands a motionless and useless director of whatever Glen Brooks. Does this Fool ever say anything? Or is he just put in place to give diversity to the press briefing?

Yet another useless Director spot which is costing taxpayers $150k Per year. And this is a guy who is was charged with a DUI while driving a city vehicle, who's drivers license is now suspended.

Maybe we can get a Bobble head to take his place, as the bobble head will at least make some movement.

There are probably a total of 4 “statements” available but the lazy FakeNews media chose the one they liked most best or which outlet was quickest to reply (by phone).
How does el’Coprah know only the police, in the ‘discharge of their weapons’ were responsible for the “civilians subsequent death”?
And where’s the mention in their statement that the “civilian” was armed?
Too much trouble to include “armed civilian” I guess.
And then there’s prudence, the waiting for autopsy and toxicology studies...right?
Oh that’s for chumps.

El’Coprah wants a jump ahead.
Three shootings this week or so.
Looks to them like a pattern and practice.
There’s a witch hunt brewing.
Foot chases - For No Reason.
Discharge of weapons - For No Reason
Lesser methods and options of apprehension ignored - For No Reason.
Mmm-mmm-mm.

El'Coprah has NO business within crime scenes, crime investigations and matters concerning police being targets of armed violence.
They just have the authority - granted by Rahm Emanuel, mayor of Murder Capital Shithole Chicago a 21st Century example of Hope & Change.
Rahm’s El’Coprah is being allowed to overextend it’s authority, fast becoming the CPD’s sole overall authority and look for Jugg-Hide Specialty Ed to be its leader one day.

If this is going to be the protocol for post shootings, good luck.
So I ax’, is it really worth the trouble...sticking your nose into ghetto affairs that is, hmmm?

Isn't that a conflict of interest?

“Civilian”? Last I checked the police are not in the military and are as much civilian as the suspect. Notice the correct word choice there. Suspect. When it is verified that the deceased dindu was indeed engaged in a crime, it should be changed to offender.

When releasing a statement, it is important to use accurate descriptors, COPA. Your underhanded attempts at allying the general public with your agenda by aligning everyone except police officers as “civilians” is disgusting. Police are civilians too. The person shot was a suspect, and most likely an offender. Which most civilians are not. Including the police and every other resident of Chicago.

Overnight South Elgin Police responded to a fireworks complaint. Upon arrival a subject fired a shotgun at the officers. Subsequently the Kane County Sheriffs SWAT team and other nearby agencies responded. When negotiations broke down, the subject opened fire with a rifle with a scope striking one officer from Geneva one from Hanover Park and Kane County Sheriff's deputy. SWAT returned fire killing the subject.

Be careful out there

The mindset of the "cousin" is revealing.
Disturbing, but revealing.
Don't shoot black men brandishing guns or shooting at the cops.
I don't know how you resolve this with law enforcecment.

Do the COPA investigators have to drop off their UBER fares before they report to a shooting scene, or bring them along? When you come to think about it the random passengers they are driving around are just as qualified as they are to investigate a shooting as they are.

I have been reading SCC for several years now. I was born and raised in Chicago. I grew up in the Austin district...Austin Blvd. and North Ave. area. We left Illinois 18 years ago with a job transfer for my husband. That was a gift from God. We raised our son here in Arizona. He went into the USMC as infantry serving in Afghanistan. God delivered him back to us whole. He is now working as a Trooper for Arizona DPS...State Police. We never would have thought things would get so bad back there. My heart breaks when I read some of the articles that are posted. Chicago was a beautiful and fun city to grow up in. I remember going downtown with my grandmother. We would visit Marshall Field’s. Shop along State St. You didn’t dare go without dressing up. It called for a dress, a pretty hat and of course...white gloves. I was probably 6 or 7 years of age then. It’s 53 years later and I read your post about the Fulton St. shooting. I look at HeyJackass and they have it listed as 4700 W. Fulton. That is where my grandparents lived. I spent many summer days playing there in the backyard. She would send me to the A&P on Cicero to get her Eight O’Clock coffee. Telling me to cross at the Lake St. light. I was 7 years old! What a wonderful time that was. Thank you for letting an old Chicago gal reminisce. I pray for you all. I ask God to safely deliver you home to your families at the end of your tours. God Bless all our first responders and God Bless the USA.
Happy Birthday America! 🇺🇸🦅

Copa investigations are a total joke. As a detective I gave a witness statement and the female militant copa investigator knew
nothing about police procedures or protocols and was confused the entire time during her questioning.

So another story from 015.

Shot/s fired at police on 04jul18 at about 0300hrs. Thankfully no one was injured.

What does the POS commander do? Nothing. Not a fucking thing. No mission cars, no tact, no cars at all to show force and make their miserable lives worse.

But if the community mentions something he will fuck you over in a heartbeat. The damn garage door was too loud for useless fucks that live behind 015 so he revoked everyone's access, just to please the community. He will side with the "community" every time.

015 P.O.s have zero confidence in his leadership.

But hey at least we have a ton of traffic mission cars on main streets that fo nothing to help with basic police functions.

He needs to go.

P.S. at least I know captain would bring hell on the block that shot at police. Give him a gold star already.

To the 5:46 post similar experiences in the Austin area in the 50s - 60s. Sad to see how what was once a great city has slid so far. We all knew that old man Daley was a crook but he held things together and kept all the various factions in line. Think the city motto then was "city that worked". Motto today should be "sanctuary and pay for not working". Or "black and brown criminals automatic sanctuary". One more "Chicago, a city where our taxpayers work so you don't have to".

Richard J. knew the nature of humans. And knew that without both firm control and satisfying minimal, (as in minimize the mal = bad), graft neccessities, worse would reliably occur. Which it did, has, and continues to be.

Wherever there are substantial quantities of people earning great quantities of income/money, there will be need driven taxing possibilities, and, thus, greed driven grafting opportunites.

Control the graft and you control the civility of your city.

Richard J. did that quite well, despite the occasionally sincere idealistically inspired opposition, the more common competition driven criticisms, and the constant clamorings of the insatiable greedy for always more.

Everyone who has occupied the mayor's seat after has been less, to far less, to woefully less, than Richard J.

Thus, Chicago sucks.
