Shooting

  • A Chicago Police officer shot and seriously wounded a person who pointed a gun at him Monday night in the South Shore neighborhood.

About 9:30 p.m., the officer was sitting in his marked police vehicle after leaving a Family Dollar store, 2346 E. 79th St., when the person walked up and pointed a handgun at him, according to CPD News Affairs Sgt. Al Stinites. The officer then pulled out his own gun and fired a shot that struck the person.

The person was taken to a hospital and listed in serious but stable condition, Stinites said. A handgun was recovered at the scene.
Good job to the involved member. The article doesn't say if the officer was working 99 or with a partner. It would certainly make a difference to someone attempting to kill a lone officer. Be very aware of where you park and who's around. Attacks can occur at any time, anywhere, even after you grab a water or newspaper from a corner store.

All he did was "point" the gun, sort of like pointing a finger. Maybe to point out a smudge on the officer's windshield. Black pointers matter!

"Be very aware of where you park and who's around. Attacks can occur at any time, anywhere, even after you grab a water or newspaper from a corner store." Good advice. Situational awareness. Such an attack can happen to anyone, police officer or not. In fact, it happens more often to non-police.

And yet? It doesn't matter how many of us get hurt or die. Those two will keep on pushing their politics until they are voted out.

Be carful out there. All we got is each other.

I am thankful the Officer was unharmed physically and was able to go home to his/her family.

Now who is the statue next to the News Affairs Sergeant who never says a word, or seems to be alive? Every time there is a major incident he seems to be standing next to a Deputy or the news affairs Sergeant. Is he there for any reason useful reason? Or is he just a decoration for the media? I cannot recall a single incident where he has ever spoken a word or opened his mouth to inhale some oxygen.

Glad the Ofc is OK and the J/O got shot... Who cares what the J/O's intention was, whether the gun was real or not - point something that looks like a gun, or pull some other weapon on a cop and you can expect to get shot.

It's reallllllly easy to avoid getting shot too - read the above to see what will get ya shot and don't do that.

The eddie say:
I can't tell you all what this young man was thinking, but his actions were clearly extremely dangerous. This offender is a juvenile, so I'm not at liberty to discuss his criminal history, but I can tell you all that he has one and it gives me, as superintendent of police, cause for concern. We, as a city and as a society, need to do better in supporting our young people, so they are not led down a path like this one," Johnson said.

Ahh Edward "cause for concern" yet again supporting young people come on moron how about saying "support the police!" WTF please stop talking your pathetic, now lets talk about your wife and cheating scandal you covered up now that is change we can believe in!

Hey burb cop,
I'll tell you what I told a colleague who corrected my speech. He told me to use proper English when I speak. I informed him we do not speak or write in proper English and as a result I'd "axe" and "finna" all I want. Furthermore I went on to tell him I've read his case reports, as well as others, and pointed out his high use of profanity and unintentionally poor grammar. In the end he could do no nothing but laugh because I have more formal education and a better command of the English language, both written and spoken, and my vocabulary is larger. When I'm on a job or speaking in formal settings I perform as so. When I'm not I don't. Don't be a fool. I hear tons of slang and broken English everyday from my colleagues who would never say "finna." By the way I'm from the burbs too.

2. How do you know that the lad was not rolling the dice, intending to hit the ghettoe lottery, and relying upon his chances being sufficiently less risky, than were he to pull this shit on a common citizen? Or an off duty, but known to be, police officer?

And, thus, the wisdom of not giving a fuck is proven, once again, to be so very wise.

The conceits are always so sneaky in their slipping into the mind, sowing their seeds of needing to know, to be the one who knows, to mock those who don't know, etc., that even when a convo seems rational, it slides so subtly into petty that only those not immersed within it can see the absurdities as they blossom.

Now, will somone please get these fellows each a Tootsie Roll All Day Sucker?

I won't, as I'm a cheap bastard.
