Divvy Crime

Good thing these bikes are all over the city, available for the low low rate of $5 (only for special people):
  • Police are warning Near West Side residents about a pair of recent armed robberies in the River West and West Town neighborhoods.

About 6:45 p.m. June 23, a man rode up to a person on a Divvy bike in the 700 block of North Sangamon and pulled out a handgun before demanding their car keys, according to an alert from Chicago Police. When the person handed over the keys, the man took them and drove off.

    [...]

About 10:40 p.m. the following day, two men who were seen riding Divvy bikes attacked a person in the 1400 block of West Lake, police said. The duo displayed a knife during the attack and made off with some of the person’s property.
Amazingly, FoxNews gives actual descriptions of the offenders. You can find them at the link.

... a man rode up to a person on a divvy bike and demanded their car keys...?

There are no editors anymore. There can't be, or that sentence would have read "a man on a divvy bike rode up to a person and demanded his car keys".

(And, yeah, the stupid divvy bikes are facilitating more crime each day. Plus, you see them dropped here and there, on curbs and in the grass, all over the city.)

Wasn'r there also a recent non-fatal shooting by a black male riding a Divvy bicycle at Wacker Dr, and Wabash?

Let's see, steal the car and leave the bike. Of course.... Taking the car will get you a low bond (if any) and possibly no charges. Stealing the bike, on the other hand, will possibly result in a long prison sentence since Rahm most likely owns part of the company and it would be personal with him.

Is there any way to trace them using the bike?

CSI Chicago could trace them using a drop of sweat left behind, much less a bike.

Not a detective but to obtain a Divvy bike you need a credit or debit card. And with the cameras available, take it from there or is it not that easy to get these assholes even after the fact. And once caught, someone, a leader, change the fucking law. No matter the age, if someone puts a gun to your face, that is prison time and not a mistake due to age.

Twice in a period of 3 days I saw youths ripping Divvy bikes out of the stands on the northside. Police arrived in time to catch a few juveniles on the second occasion, but let the ones still there go. At least 5 bikes were taken and ridden away on. I didn't think you could steal a Divvy bike but our juvenile criminals seem capable of anything. They would just go down the row of bikes and pull hard till one would pop out.

You are correct! Unfortunately, in COOK COUNTY there are too many black and brown people (or folks) in prison... and there is affordable bail (let out with an I-Bond), etc... So if anyone dares to do the right thing or complain, then they are immediately labelled racist!

People don’t dock the bikes correctly. A lot of times the racks are broken. The shitheads just pull on the bikes until they have one that wasn’t docked properly. Lower wicker is loaded with them right next to he sleeping junkies

Chicago weekend toll: 23 shot, including 5 children 15 and younger
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/ct-met-chicago-weekend-violence-201800702-story.html

Don't worry nagode has it covered:Speaking after the six people were shot in East Garfield Park, Area North Deputy Chief Al Nagode said the city had deployed a “a tremendous amount of resources” over the weekend.

Umm Al are using the "Ryan strategy" did you tell them if they do the crimes they will be caught? did you warn them sternly we have a detective division with a 13.5% rate of getting caught? Guess that 23 shot is OK with all the "resources?" Now AL get your warm milk, take a nap and dream some more!

Well, on the up side, the car-jacked victim now had the bike for transportation. On the other hand, does he have to pay for Late Fees or any damages to the bike. (LOL)

btw, That is one fucked up sentence 'Sun-Times Media Wire', to wit: Why would a man ride up to a person on a bike and demand that guy's car keys when he's on a bike? So is English like a second language in your office now? Or since your company next to bankrupt now did you sub-contract Editing to the Pakistanis who run the hilarious IRS Tax Scam and those Windows Technical Support, Pakistani assholes?

And yet you Sun-Times bigwigs likely sit around and wonder why nobody reads your crappy newspaper any longer and you're going out of business soon.

Hi, I'm a Trump supporter who rides Divvy. A few thoughts:

1) Whoever did their contract needs to your contract next time. Basically the city will pay Divvy for any losses they occur for the next few years. I'm sure those books are 100% accurate.
2) My bike key fob and the bike checked out are tied to my credit card. If I left the bike at a crime scene, you should theoretically be able to find out who took it out last.
3) Divvy's parent company just got bought by Lyft today. Lyft seems to be better about law enforcement work than Divvy does.
4) As soon as they announced Divvy for low income potential riders, my price went up 25%. I'm sure there's no correlation to that... /

Hilarious! I cannot wait until the Divvy program is bankrupted through theft and vandalism. The deployment of Divvy racks in the south and west sides was a futile SJW play. Cops shouldn't even bother theft reports or vandalism reports on Divvys. Just let those kids in the blue Divvy fans recover the broken bicycles from the curbs and alleys.

Guns kill people, ban guns. Divvy bikes rob people, ban Divvy bikes. Prosecute those who fail to dock those bikes back in the racks properly. Those who don't dock properly are guilty of gross negligence and extreme carelessness. They are leading our youth a stray.

This is not a robbery, just Marxism. Remember: " .......to each according to his needs." The Divvy bike rider needed a car at the moment. Who are we to question why he needed the car maybe it was an emergency. And besides he left the driver of the car his bike. This is just redistribution of the wealth. We all need to produce according to our ability and help those according to their needs.
