Nice Campus Rahm
One of the top universities in the world and employer of future president Sparklefarts, scene of a run-of-the-mill homicide:
- A man was killed early Thursday a shooting and vehicle crash near the University of Chicago campus in the Hyde Park neighborhood on the South Side.
The 25-year-old was stopped at a red light when another vehicle pulled up and someone fired multiple shots about 12:05 a.m. in the 1200 block of East Midway Plaisance, according to Chicago police.
He was shot in the head, left shoulder, lower right arm and right thigh. He drove off westbound and crashed his vehicle into a tree near Midway Plaisance Park and South Woodlawn Avenue, according to police and University of Chicago campus security.
No need to worry though!
- UChicago sent out a security alert about the shooting and said the victim was not affiliated with the university.
Right. He was just driving through the campus. Where the people who might actually cure cancer some day could be walking, learning, sleeping near a window while someone else if firing bullets at a passing car.

Hey SCC, no offense, why are you talking about this incident on the blog? It's not related to police on or off duty? It's an unfortunate that this person lost his life. Wouldn't this space have been more useful maybe to show case something positive the men and women in blue are doing on the streets? The senseless shooting in Hyde Park is for readers picking up the newspapers. Maybe it's a slow news day for SCC thanks for listening.

Don't forget to thank Saul Alinsky who prevented the University from trying to save the neighborhood from the gangs. And told the gangbangers that they had a right to extort business owners. Don't forget Rev. Arthur Brazier who made himself rich off the misery of people living in fear. So the odd murder on the Midway really doesn't seem like a big deal. No need to stop and look.

OT: but related to the U of C. Drive down the midway any given weekday and there sre hundreds of cars parked belonging to U of C employees and students. Drive around the streets of the campus and witness the same parking conditions. Why are there no parking “meters?” The city will claim that the Midway is a park, however nobody can use it because the U of C affiliated cars parked there are there all day. Same on all of the streets around campus.
Drive around Loyola, DePaul, or Northwestern’s city campuses and all the surrounding streets have pay boxes.
Again, the excuse of residential or park streets as the excuse holds no water to tax payers.
Rahm, time to put in pay boxes, especially on the midway, from Stony Isl. to Cottage Grove, and on streets bordering campus buildings, which are for the business of the U of C. Make the residential streets permit parking.
The U of C has a $7.8 billion endowment, they can afford to put up parking structures or pay for bus passes for their employees.
One might think that between Shortshanks and Rahm’s kids attending school at the U of C there was something funny going on.

We had a gang related shootout here in the Cornfields, complete with the police joining in with the fun. But strangely, there were no safety bulletins from our idiots in City Hall, and the local paper didn't mention this at all.
All of our rental housing is now Section 8, and we have a lot of the Chicago Folks who have taken advantage of the opportunity to move out here.
I’d have to check my files, but I think this guy was a non-cooperative street thug GSW victim likely to have shot his own hand while doing a drive by a few years back.
Maybe it’s a different Armani who also was a community member in the High Risk category.
Armani just started working recently at a southwest side rail yard, he did admit to being a gang member of the Vice Lord Street gang not only to myself but other employees aswell. This more than likely wasn’t just random. Looks like he was targeted. It has also been mentioned around Work that his brother was killed last year by gun fire. There’s more to this story I’m sure. He may have been trying to change his life... who knows.

Not impossible, but in fact FAR less likely to occur at Evanston's Northwestern campus than at U of Chicago. Surrounding neighborhoods are quite different.
