Another "Tourist" Killed
- A 25-year-old man died Thursday after he was shot on Labor Day in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.
Trenton Land, a resident of Lafayette, Indiana, was riding in a vehicle about 3:15 p.m. in the 3700 block of West Jackson when another vehicle pulled up and someone inside fired shots, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Land was struck in his head and was taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he died Thursday at 7:15 p.m., authorities said.
Along with that Northwestern graduate student who got to spend four whole hours in Rahm's Chicago before getting shot multiple times, it seems a lot of people are seeing the seedy side of the Windy City.

It's time for tourists to go fetal. You can't get killed in Chicago if you stay away from Chicago. What in Chicago is worth dying for? Let the city return to the swamp it was built on. It's just a matter of time and the longer it takes the harder the fall will be. Don't sacrifice yourself to the beast that prowls the streets day and night. No neighborhood is really safe anymore thanks to 9 1/2 and those that proceeded him and those that will replace him will be of the same ilk.
Maybe don't visit the west side when you're in Chicago? It would significantly increase your chance of survival.

If you do a google search of " Trenton Land Chicago Illinois Cook County Jail" you might find that Mr. Land was not some innocent tourist from Indiana. Some website lists a report of an arrest in June of 2018 for the decedant In Cook
county Illinois.
The arrest was drug-related. I think it involved schedule III narcotics.

I'm a retired LEO in Wisconsin. Back in the 80s & 90s my late first wife and I would occasionally spend a weekend on the Magnificent Mile. Never any problems, walked all over even after dark. Now remarried I would like to take my wife to the Science & Industry Museum. No way would I feel safe doing that. Maybe when I was still working and could carry per federal law. But until I get my retired qualification ID I won't travel there unarmed. And since my Wisconsin concealed carry permit is not honored in Illinois it will be awhile before I even consider visiting. After all these years I want the ability to defend my wife and myself. I don't intend on being a victim anytime soon.
If this guy was a "Tourist" in that neighborhood, he was either Lost or a War Tourist!
Real Tourists are kept away from that Chicago, and most residents know better than to be on Jackson beyond the Stadium. Unless you are wearing Kevlar underwear. Baby "G"
They probably weren’t made aware of the dangers that lurk in our streets because the media censors every crime, rape, shooting and homicide. These tourists turn on the tube and only get to see & hear all of the ‘nice’ stories.
Get Chicago listed on the State Department's list of no-go, dangerous places. Dangerous places are graded: bad, more bad, most bad, like North Korea. Should Chicago be listed in any category, it'll be another Chicago first.

Chicago should go national with a "purge in Chicago" campaign. Visit our itu and purge until your hearts content there are no consequences if caught. Automatic catch and release program in effect for all tourists. Designate what neighborhoods this program applies to and let them have at it. Suggest you start with Englewood and Austin. Citizens in designated neighborhoods would be allowed to shoot back in self defense with no fear from arrest. Bounty for tourists for every known banger bagged, nothing for other citizens just consider then collateral damage. Kind of what's going on now in those neighborhoods. Gun and ammo rental shops would thrive and the funeral directors would be all over this. Once the herd is thined in one neighborhood move to next on list.

Nice to see you actually believe Rahms “tourist” numbers. Just because X amount of people come thru the airports doesn’t mean they are going to the city.
Diversity is our strength! Why, of course a visitor can go to the Englehood, Austin or Garifeld Park area, some are visiting the criminal element they come from and others are clueless progressives that think communism is good, capitalism is bad and there are no such things as dangerous neighborhoods. When they actually find out what happens in these hoods, they promptly point those evil possessors of white privilege as the causes of this violence, it's your fault! Sure, there is some culture here, great restaurants, and museums. There are plenty of Cities by a Lake, many of which you(& your wallet) would survive a visit to!

I live in NW Indiana and I haven't been to Chicago in years. The killing fields that are Chitcago have been national stories (shocker), so prior to coming here as a tourist they should be well informed.
When some of my extended family told me that they were planning a vacation to the city of their youth (moved 30+ yrs ago to Calif, land of sunshine & flowers), they accused me of being a scared killjoy when I suggested they might want to rethink that jaunt to the south side. Not my problem now.
57 Million Toursits is a bogus number. College Students who move here for the semester, cannot be coated as a "tourist". No one in the City Tourism Bureau will admit how they get to this number, but a lot of people who drive in from the Suburbs are counted. Last year Vegas had 43 Million real Tourists Orlando had 72 Million. No way Chicago is drawing legitimate tourist numbers versus Vegas or Orlando.

Almost ALL neighborhood in chicago are solid Democratic. You gist would be very y limited indeed and you would still have to travel thru enemy territory to get there. So, retired from wisconsin actually intends to subject a loved one to roll the dice with him, for a visit to a fucking eyesore of a museum, no less.
Sonny, you want to show her the best of this city, take a drive, on a late Sunday evening, timing your crossing the state line to about a minute before midnight, driving straight down the lovely Route 41, and enjoy the relaxing effect of Sheridan Road, all the way through those lovely north shore suburbs, past the truly impressive snake winding, the Bahai temple, the college campus, always staying left, east, to keep yourselves as close to the lake as possible, so, when you finally find yourselves, after passing on the east of the evanston cemetary, entering the shit zone of rogers park east, not a soul will be stirring, not a body to be seen upright upon the public way. That would be about, oh, 3am+, really early Monday. Then, turn around and head back north the same, exact route. You will catch the sunrise on the lake at about Racine.
As for the rest of the lakefront on the eastern border of this city, fuck it.

That would be a map of the entire city.
Plus, several bordering sort of suburbs.
Plus, anywhere you would not choose to not be driving through, which is a lot of somewheres. A lot.
Unless, of course, you are a tourist on a killing spree, the package deal offered only to the special whoever has the bucks.

Do not perceive your gun as a free pass from violence. Or, a guaranteed win for you. If you were to find yourself and the wife in a bad situation, you are surely hoping to prevail, but what if it ends in a tie or the offender prevails? In two of the three situations, you or the wife or both are dead. Is coming to this shithole worth it?
I suggest you and the wife enjoy the virtual tour in the comfort and safety of your own home. You'll both live to see another day.
Plus, the feral beast keeps a lookout for out-of-state plates in the hopes you are a rube just ripe for the picking or the capping or both. "Stay Home And Live!" should replace the "Welcome To Chicago" signs.
