- FBI forensic examiner Mark Messick made a slowed-down version of the dashcam video with arrows pointing to where he believed the bullets hit. But later he said on the stand he was not an expert in ballistics and that the arrows could only really indicate where he saw puffs of smoke. After a tense cross-examination, Gaughan ordered that his testimony be stricken from the record, so that jurors cannot consider it as evidence at all. “He has no background in what the smoke means,” Gaughan said.
Gee, an FBI "expert" making up evidence and explanations as they go along? Passing off "enhanced" video as actual bullet impacts? Being unable to tell puffs of "smoke" from the "debris clouds" that occur when bullets ricochet off pavement?

I feel I am an educated liberal that needs to express my sentiments. Something seems askew with this trial, is it possible that the Police are being scapegoated here?
I support the Police and the integrity of the profession. If this Officer was a killer maniac he should be convicted but at this juncture it appears that he saved people's lives. How can he be on trial?

Sheriff’s Officer Adam Murphy, who was on patrol that night and followed the Chicago police squad cars to the scene, testified McDonald was lying in the middle of Pulaski Road while about six Chicago police officers stood around talking. Murphy put on rubber gloves, bent over McDonald as he was “gasping for air” and told him the ambulance was on the way. McDonald never responded and appeared to stop breathing a short time later, Murphy said.

I watched this agent's testimony and literally almost fell asleep a few times.
There must be some reason that the prosecution thought that this guy added value, however I am not sure what value there was even if his testimony was allowed into the record.
My opinion is the entire case is about what is perceived about justifiable force, nothing against the agent but I found the whole line of questioning from the prosecution to be of little to no value.
Puffs of smoke no matter where it comes isn't going to sway a jury either way.

If you are not already doing so, please do, but take a look at the opposition's Twitter feed. They are already starting to concede and bitch that "the fix is in".... I have seen at least a half dozen "citizen activists" moan about the FBI "expert" being dismissed.

The witnesses and so-called "experts" that the prosecution are calling is a joke! Seems like they are desperate to call anyone to say anything they want then to. Then defense cross-examines them and the CLAM-UP...Sorry, I dont recall? I dont know? Hmmm...sounds like bullshit to me. Obviously, these prosecution witnesses have been well instructed on what to say to the defense team.
The puffs of smoke/ bullet entries or whatever they want to allege is all a moot point. No one contends whether JVD fired all 16 shots. The only thing that matters is whether the use of force is justified. Was he authorized to shoot, yes or no? Only the first shot matters.
All smoke and mirrors to make it look like the defense was given a play. They will burn JVD because they have to. He’ll be convicted on lesser/fewer counts, but he will spend some time in the joint and needless to say his career is over. That’s the compromise that won’t satisfy all voters (both sides), but won’t justify a riot. Chicago will just drag itself through the thick mud of racial tension as it has for 180 years and it will continue forever.

Their scientific department has been locking innocent people up for years. Remember when they testified that they could match a bullet found at a crime scene to a box of bullets in a person's house? They now admit it can't be done.
Lots of people went to jail based on that testimony.

In today’s Sun Times Mary Mitchell is as expected complainied about lack of minority participation on the VanDyke jury. Of course she alleged defense exclusion of black people for strictly racial reasons. What she doesn’t mention though is the defense assertion that prosecutors were challenging white males for exactly the same reason. Prosecutors when challenged by the defense were amazed at the assertion anyone expected anything less. Apparently she and other liberal media members and citizens believe it’s okay to have different standards when it comes to notions of bias in racial make up if juries.
So just remember, we are expected to treat white defendants one way, and black defendants another. The state has the right the right to exclude potential jurors for whatever reason but not so for the defense.
So they put the cook county sheriffs officer on the stand to testify to what he was going to do. He said I put my gloves on and was going to help him but he was already dead. The video shows him standing next to the group of POs for 5 min before he begins to put his gloves on.
Even the judge was pissed at the "expert". He kept telling him that "You are an expert, is it or isn't it? Stop saying maybe, or it could be."
Notice how the "protestors" are almost exclusively white males? No doubt funded by George Soros to foment racial tensions.

That he was allowed to testify AT ALL is on the defense counsel. He should have been subject to a motion to exclude or limit his testimony. If the testimony was unknown prior to him taking the stand defense counsel should have requested a side bar immediately when this BS on where the bullets went started and requested a voir dire outside the presence of the jury. Sounds like the cross was effective but once the jury hears something the cat is out of the bag.

If you think you might be crazy, as the saying goes, then you probably aren't. If you're introspective enough to call your own sanity into question, then you can't possibly be THAT far gone.
I think the same goes for any stance. If you're willing to question even your most staunchly-held positions, it demonstrates a security of conviction unequalled by the strongest of arguments.
And so I offer the following simple question: Did Van Dyke maybe make a mistake?
If he did NOT make a mistake, the argument for such is strengthened by asking the question. If this question is prohibited, what does this prohibition say about the matter?

Given it's only the third day I wouldn't expect there to be many layabouts protesting. But just wait till they begin deliberating and if the community is not satisfied with the verdict. I'm sure that's being organized by BLM, and the other professional whiners. Many of the "protesters" only take part to loot and destroy as was the case in Ferguson.

At least I do have to say that the judge seems to have control and preventing these "lawyers" from becoming tv sensationalists (unlike the OJ Simpson trial). Not true. There are some Cook county officers that do patrol. Do you think the guy is lying. There is a video of him on the scene standing next to CPD officers. Be happy he was following the squads. Wish more would do it
Messick was back for a short start over testimony today. Jackson looked half drunk sitting there. I heard Jackson likened this shooting to the Emmett Till murder in the 1950's. Can all you salty old veteran officers and supervisors stop referring to Chicago Police Officers as "CHILDREN" or "BOYS AND GIRLS".It is beyond disrespectful and condescending.These fine Officers go out and put their lives on the line along side of all of us.
Reporters who were at court are freaking out over the body photos. Do they realize police and paramedics see these things every day?

The concept of "doomsday" is a fiction, as, no matter the quantity of deaths and destructions, each dies as only one.
Thus, only those who do not die will be not dead, yet, to decide if the concept of "doomsday" has meaning.
Pardon me, or not, for choosing to remain as aware as the nature of the world induces me to.

Look... I am on record & will stay on record as being "Team Jason" However, I'm going to say it... I'm going to go there... Attorney Herbert is in over his head with this case. JVD needs (he deserves) someone who has more depth to their "big defense" experience. There's lawyers and then there's big-time lawyers. JVD needs someone MUCH more experienced, someone who's played in the legal big leagues before. He needs someone in the league of Alan Dershowitz, Robert Shapiro, Mark Geragos, etc. Before you all start commenting about those names listed, I'm just using them as reference points for the depth of experience needed. I'm a lawyer with a degree from a prestigious school and I'm the first to tell you that even good lawyers (Dan Herbert) can't do it alone.
Regarding the racist from the slum times. Why would you read her column? The pictures she paints are all the same. Hopefully nobody here is wasting the $ on that fish wrapper, don’t even click on links to its articles. Hurt them in the pocket book by lowering advertising revenue.
With the slightest bit of research one can conclude a first degree murder was not committed.
I ran into that sheriff right after it happened. I worked in mids in the suburbs at the time, he’s a big dui guy. You should have heard him describe the story...... all I can say is wow, dude is a tool.

This idiot says he follows the squad cars..then you see him talking with CPD officers while he SLOWLY puts on the gloves and then after a while he finally approaches LM and says the ambulance is on the way???? WTF is that? you are kidding me that he took the stand to say that he was going to help with CPR? Get the fuck out officer... All cook county guys that work the streets are very clouted and you will never work the streets ulesss you have a phone call..that was per a cook county guy I talked to one time when he needed assistance.
