I have been doing some thinking... Over all, to say the least... the events of JVD/LQMD for the most part control damage could have been minimized right after; however the SCUMBAGS who represents “leadership” (are shit) and let the whole fester into “full blow” cancer. But thank GOD some of them slithered out with a full pension and in another case get a job at NEIU. Congrats. The liberal sacks over there definitely protect their own; no tough questions asked.
In the case with JVD— I told him in 2013 at 7/11 on Archer and Central— dude, take a vacation and get help... overall his supervisor and his supervisor failed him first hand. He will not be the last guy tho.

There should be some type of federal lawsuit involving the sick and unfair Chicago practice of meritorious promotions. Because of people’s connections they are unfairly able to get a major pay increase even though they did terrible on the test. The people that have no connections must ace the test or be stuck at the same pay.

– If this is so, then the Management is “stockpiling”. They forego Merits on the last List or couple lists until friends and family have attained any necessary time OTJ, academics, disciplinary or medical clearances. Ok, hold the phone. I don't know this guy but he is working in a unit that is impossible to get without a phone call. That's great that he has done well there, but its largely an inside spot. So does a street copper dealing in arrests and guns worth less? Every working copper knows the harder you work; warrants, wires, in person surveillance etc, the job pushed harder against you. Not to mention beefs and lawsuits. Good for him for getting the promotion, but there are a ton of workers that deal with much more headaches and dangerous situations.

I never worker with JB in 015. I did have him work cases when he was in asset forfeiture. He is extremely proficient and professional. He is definitely a hard worker when it comes to making cases over there.

When things used to make sense, after someone "retired" post haste, there would have been no cake and coffee. Or, it would have been sparsely attended. Also, their "people" would have been considered tainted. Without heavy duty clout, the taint would have remained for years. But that was not the new department. Be the change!

Like no one ever cheated on the test to get promoted. ie secret study groups, preview of test, subject matter experts. Scrap the test. Promote like the military does
I don’t know who the guy in 017 is that everyone is beefing about but I know this, it’s not unusual for entire tours to pass without an arrest in 017. That Montrose and Kenzie area is immersed in gang activity and nothing is done. I agree he shouldn’t be merit, no one in that district should be merit. Dean Wormer should put you all on double secret probation. The only district that locks up less people is 020. Their crime isn’t half of yours. 016 locks up twice as many people. You can’t have it both ways. If you want to do nothing then do nothing, but don’t complain you weren’t rewarded. A friend of mine had a sum first of money well into the 6 figures fraudulently removed from his bank accounts last year. Bank wants a report. 017 car responds to his business and tells him that it’s a civil matter and he should get a private attorney. He goes in to 017 station and tries to report it. Desk officer tells him we don’t take reports for that. It happens too often to investigate it. Here’s a guy that lives in 017, owns a business in 017 and pays more taxes each year than my wife and I make combined. That’s all I need to know about 017.

If your already prolific at CPD why would you taint your prolification by adding “merit” to your name?
What made Commander SM (017) think that TK is more worthy of the SGT merit promotion over other Officers who are way more qualified, experienced, and knowledgeable about the job? Volunteering to a funeral detail doesn’t qualify and makes you better than us.
You see, Theo, I’m not the only one scratching my head about your merit promotion. And just like your friend ,(merit) Detective EP, you’re both worthless and clueless.
The audacity of these Commanders! When’s this going to stop?
Pretty jealous, eh? TK is a damn good copper as was EP when they were partners on the school unit. One of the very few coppers who ever did any kind of police work in 017. Keep scratching your head and maybe you will finally see past your jealousy and realize that TK was a worthy merit pick, as was EP for det last year. The Chicago archdiocese is in a great situation, they know that CPS is a absolute joke, from top to bottom. You have thier union and some teachers denouncing the police, they teach the students how the police are the enemy and will harm them and attempt to unjustly put them in prison, so your left with placing your kids in catholic schools. In regards to any of the other supervisor that may have been involved please tell me how THEY FAILED HIM. Did they shoot the offender 16 times which led to a 1st Degree Murder charge? Or did they make it good shoot? Should they have made a bad shoot? You're simply fucking retarded. Anyone from the D Unit or Command staff that may have escaped unscathed only had to escape because this was determined to be a good shooting. So you want them to second guess the officer and make any shooting that may have what the media determines to be excessive force a bad shooting? Okay dumbfuck. Why don't you think before you open up your mouth.

is the last three years of Pat Alyward s career - on medical for almost a year, dumped from gangs, weasels his way to 017 on days, goes to summer mobile and then is given a merit promotion for the second time. For no reason other than his wife is "friendly" to Eli and other bosses. Absolutely sickening.
Alyward wasn’t a merit sgt. He made sgt with me and on list above me.

Some supervisor or boss failed these officers by allowing them to write paper in direct contradiction to what is on that dashboard video. I will never understand how this happened. That video should have been looked at during that night. I wasn't there and don't know what went down and who was taking advice from who but it's every supervisors job to keep their officers out of a trick bag. I hope all these officers including JVD come out of this alright but sadly I'm not optimistic.

Seeing that the feds like to get involved in Chicago, why can’t we have the same rights as the FBI. I believe they get 48 hours before having to say or write anything. If that were the case in Chicago the video should have been viewed by the officers involved and this might not have happened
Maybe FOP should bring this up in contract negotiations and if the city won’t agree maybe the arbitrator will. How can he say it’s proper for the FBI but not us. Also the videos are available, why only the bosses can view them when you will be doing the reports

So are you saying that after an incident the involved officers are not allowed to view the video by policy? Or is it that there are individual bosses who will not allow the involved officers to view the video before writing their paper? I can't believe this is in an order somewhere.
