Section 8? Move to Hawaii!
- Maui Hawaii Mayor Alan Arakawa answers some of the most-asked questions submitted to his staff.
Aloha Mayor,
Q: I was awarded a Section 8 voucher for Maui for me and my son. We live in Rockford IL. I was very excited about being able to live in paradise just to find out that there aren’t any homes or apartments available. Why are you giving out Section 8 vouchers if you have nowhere for people to live?
A: I have to admit that I was a little puzzled at first as to why out-of-state residents were being given Section 8 vouchers for housing in Maui County, especially since our housing inventory is very low. But after checking with our departments, I was reminded that this is a federal program, and by law, it is open to any eligible applicant no matter their state of residence. But although that is true, it is also true that just having a voucher does not guarantee you housing. This is unfortunately the case for voucher holders all over the United States, not just here on Maui.
But if there was an actual Section 8 house in Hawaii, who pays for the relocation?

Man. Section 8 housing? That sounds like a great way to ruin paradise.
Exactly why I refuse to work overtime. Being taxed at 50% to support worthless/lazy folks ain’t fine by me.
Section 8 in Maui? Friggin ridiculous. Everything in Maui is way over priced already because it's gotta be shipped in to the island... Went there once, hope never to go back.
Beautiful scenery, but beyond that - virtually everything sucked...
Why isn't there any ILL sec 8 housing available in Hawaii?
I DEMAND ILL sec 8 should be available in Hawaii.
Also, ILL sec 8 should extend to California, Texas, New England, etc.
This is America, people/folks should live where they want to live.
Section 8? Maybe. Homeless? Maybe not.
Hundreds of homeless have flown back to mainland under Hawaii program

HA! Get Federal $$ without the any of the work or nonsense. Nice
That does raise a good question. Who pays for and what company(ies) have contracts for such labor and storage
Hawaii! Well isn’t that a crock of sh*t!

If they're from Illinois we the taxpayer does, like everything else we pay for...
They have to walk or drive there.....
Who pays for relocation? Who else, the taxpayers. Everything's free in America, after all. Isn't this how Newman on Seinfeld got to Hawaii after the US Postal Service denied his transfer.
Enjoy Rockford! :>
Housing vouchers are transferrable Nationwide, so no matter where you get one, you can use it anywhere. That's why ppl or flks apply where ever the wait time is shortest, then just use it elsewhere.
Its amazing that there is even a "MIDDLE" class...were taxed and on the hook for every fucking thing in this city and country eventually there will be only 2 classes..The rich and the po.
Block busting crap.

Please leave Texas off that list. California is already trying their damnedest to libtard the state up.
Do they have a “red line” or Amazon Go store? Folks want to know.
Three guess....Welcome to the Left free shit side

About ten years ago I was assigned to a domestic call. The mom, on scene, with her five kids said she will be glad to get out of here when ‘they’ send her to “kallitipal”. A hundred questions later I learned she had a single family section 8 home waiting for her in Kallispell, Montana. She told me ‘they’ were flying her out there. When asked about her five babies, she told me ‘they’ were shipping them out on a bus. Fundamental Transformation or Invasion of the Body Snatchers?
Imagine, after 29 and a day you decide to go to Hawaii. After getting off the plane your cab drives you up to the intersection of King Dr and Alikaka way. All of a sudden you hear: " Rocks blows Rocks blows "!
Funny story. And then you have an old woman of 84 that has never lived anywhere else but Hawaii and after her apartment complex stopped taking Section 8 she couldn't get another place due to the waiting list. So she had to move to Vegas with her daughter. She was only paying 136 bucks a month rent and without the voucher she would have had to pay $1,500. Section 8 officials say if a tenant doesn't find a landlord willing to accept the subsidy within 60 days of it being issued, they could lose the voucher. Guess you're stuck in Rockford, lady. Perhaps she could play the gender or race card.
Some things to keep in mind . . .
1) The natives are NOT friendly.
2) It's an island, not many places to go, beach, jungle, etc.
3) Stuff is EXPENSIVE, your link card is not going to go far.
4) No jobs, even if you wanted one.
5) It's turning into a "shall issue" CCW state, so no screwing around.
5150 Northwest Hwy Chicago, County of Cook Illinois all Section 8 Voucher recipients are WELCOME!
There’s a lot of low lifes living in Hawaii off the fed teat.
It ain’t all paradise.
Just sayin.
Send them to Chernobyl for section 8... and don’t worry about that extra arm growing....
Troubling times in the oBamwaiian Island.
The migrant feral have already infested it and the tiny pop up hut street living is no problem.
My advice to Rockford freeloader-
Quickly get to SanFran (Amtrak/Grayhounds $199) first then catch a Democrat ferry to the big island around election time when the incumbent candidate needs votes. Very likely it’s the best time to get a travel voucher as they love, tolerate and welcome migrants.
Dear Rockford paradise seeker:
We will gladly fund your dual residency travel expense provided you register to vote in our Welcoming 45th Ward. No obligation to return every so often, an absentee ballot will always be accepted without any identification or verification. In fact, we already established a residency and voter registration for you Rockford Paradise, knowing nobody is ever back checking.
Best regards,
The Friendly Forward Campaign Staff of Section8’Arena (D-45).

Mr Mayor Arakawa;
Is it sexist to ask if anyone really wears coconut bras (or a male specific undergarment, also know as a mansierre) in Hawaii?
I've been to Maui three times and have covered the entire island including the mountain conclaves of hemp fields well hidden and have yet to see anything regarded as section-8....not when newly weds and tourism rules. Funniest post I have yet to see on SCC. And EVEN if such housing exists, can mama afford the $10 per gallon of milk for her brood?
LOL, I wonder if Alaska has section 8 housing.
Maybe they Want more Crime
Thank you 9/20 @11:57AM I LMAO! It's something I'd encourage all the folks to do. Paradise awaits.
Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, Alaska and Hawaii just get higher food stamp allowance because of the location and cost to ship food in. And WIC pays the cost of a gallon of milk, juice, cheese, eggs whatever the local cost is. And yes, there's Section 8. There's even public housing in Key West. And guess who pays?
Since my CPD retirement, my wife and I winter in Lahaina, Maui. I'm a very private person. My former CPD colleagues were unaware that I had attained substantial wealth from the stock market and a generous inheritance from a wealthy relative. I can't believe that the CPD has degenerated to such a pathetic dysfunctional P.D. since my retirement. Who in their right mind would want to join what was once a great P.D.?
Life is good in Maui but it's quite expensive. We have no stressors. We travel to Oahu, Kauai, Molokai, Lanai and the Big Island, not to mention several trips to Australia, New Zealand, Tahiti and other South Pacific destinations.
I understand that Illinois leads the nation in outward migration.
Move out of state and leave that corrupt nightmare job as soon as possible. To the politicians and CPD brass, you're nothing more than cannon fodder.
Stay safe and God bless you.
america, land of the free..stuff
Was out there years ago and was told that other states fly the homeless there because it's hard for them to get back and at least the weather is nice.

That's a great idea, a one-way relocation to the Final Frontier. Give them a lesson upon arrival on how to build an igloo, then drop them off on the northern slope.
Sorry but the 2 times that I've visited Hawaii there has been no section 8. Tourism rules the island. Sure there are the bums on the beach but still a beautiful place.
