- Sneed hears rumbles former Chicago Police Board President Lori Lightfoot, an early entrant into the mayoral sweepstakes, might entertain backing Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle in exchange for Preckwinkle letting Lightfoot implement new police reforms should Preckwinkle become mayor.
The rumored ticket?
Lightfoot, a former federal prosecutor, would become the city’s new corporation counsel in Preckwinkle’s administration.
We sense a lot of this horse trading going on shortly. Chico is going to want something. McCarthy has been rumored to want stuff for his compatriots, Bill Daley is a Daley - he'll deal if it's good for Daley. Other political threats will be bought off by promises or commitments.

Father Faker will be helping Lighthead very closely with the police reforms. New especial advisor position at $120K per year for this position plus a staff of the to help Faker. If you think I'm kidding just wait until Pickwick becomes mayor. Prickwinkel and Lightfoot sounds like a Clint Eastwood movie title. That alone should get them elected.

If Taxwinkle becomes mayor, and I would say at this point she is the odds on favorite, as she will garner a vast majority of the black vote. A run-off may not even be necessary.

Toni Preckwinkle changes the entire game. She will carry all of the black wards. Black people are pissed off and angry. The number of black registered voters is 2-1 when compared to Hispanics and equal to the white voters. So if Toni Preckwinkle carries the black ward by 80% to 90% and only obtains 30% of the Hispanic and 20% of the white vote then she will be the next mayor.
In the next stage, Toni Preckwinkle will ask for the support of various black church leaders and community organizations. The black alderman are clearly on the side of Rahm Emanuel and the centrist Democrats. She may get the support of the aldermen or not but that really won't be consequential. She has the support of SEIU and they have a major "boots on the ground" organization.
Heaven help us if Toni Preckwinkle wins. You think our job is difficult now? It will be extremely difficult.

They figure if the southside and the northside gets together they can get the white vote. Now, the big issue is the Hispanic Vote. If someone can come in and claim that vote than this can get interesting?????

I can’t see Preckwinkle putting someone in her administration who just back stabbed the current mayor in the back by promising not to run, then accepting Police Board position, all while planning to run anyway. Why would you want to bring on someone you know for a fact, wants your job, just sayin.
There are no "non-machine" candidates. There are just some variation of how controlled they are. They would still have to govern and Chicago is a weak mayor style of city government. A mayor that cannot work the political side of things will not last long.He or she will have to find a way to make nice with the thieves and crooks that permeate city government.

You think de policing is bad now. No one in their right mind would do any work under her. Not to mention, She is not qualified to be Superintendent or Commisioner, she has zero experience.
Given that Lightfoot and the panel did the nationwide search for a “qualified” candidate, with the qualifications and experience to run a major police department, how in the hell does she then take that position. Remember, her picks were not considered and Johnson was named, to her dismay. I just can’t see how anyone could justify it. She has become one big conflict of interest.
