We don't see this actually passing, but the fact that these idiots are actually in a position to make suggestions to JaBee the Hutt is disturbing. What exactly is the purpose of having a juvenile system if you are trying to consider everyone up to age 21 a "juvenile?"
If this would happen to go through, we'd have to insist that everything that comes with reaching the age of majority be delayed those three years, including voting.

Why is it that all of these criminal justice reforms and programs are always for the benefit of the offender and never for the victim?
JB the hutt... why don’t you look at the study that associates a persons IQ with their incarceration rate — don’t worry SJWs, the study was done in West Virginia, Birmingham UK, and Rio Brazil—just to not look racist. Everyone is satisfied.
But try and educate CPS students instead of setting them up for failure— teach them math and science instead of how a cop did something 30 years ago.
Democrats have been in power of this city for the last 70 years. Conditions and standards have declined to 3rd world country levels for the minorities. When will we ever learn?
Maybe the idea with the 17-21 yr olds is that if some fool got a sentence of 5 yrs when he was 15, that the Juvy court would be able to retain oversight instead of turning it over to adult court upon the 18th birthday?
Whatever - all this shit is going to do is to create more issues. The whole concept behind the Juvenile Court was that there was presumed to be some possibility of redemption, that the offender's brain wasn't fully developed, that the offender fucked up and didn't realize the consequences of his action due to the young age... blah blah blah...
All this presumes the kid had some kind of home life to go back to, that mom and dad would put their foot up the kid's ass this time, and make him fly right - go to school, stay out of trouble, etc... hell - maybe even MOVE out of the shit area entirely. And the kid wouldn't be a problem in the future...
Fast forward to the Present:
- Gangs take advantage of the forgiveness of the justice system... Full advantage.
- Kids know what they're doing and do it on purpose. Yummy, et. al?
- Some kids aren't in gangs, but game the system anyway because they're sociopaths...
- Kids might not have one parent, let alone two.... living with "Auntie" who's almost as worthless as mom...
- Education is not valued. Just keep demanding more free stuff! Fight for 15!!!
... and on, and on, and on, and on....
Fuck all that crap. We need to stop pandering to the lowest common denominator.

I worked in youth to finish my career. Easiest part of my career! Hardest part was getting parents of a 17 year old hardcore criminal to come to the station and sign them out. They would tell us to "keep them" We usually waited until the end of the tour, and took them home in a squad car. The next time they got arrested, they expected the same service. What's next? Give them a cab voucher? An 18 year old is responsible for himself. After the mountain of paperwork is done at least he can sign himself out and walk home. Will the heinous crimes of the 18-21 year old then be dismissed as in JV court fashion?
This wont pass. The JV system is already as overloaded and dysfunctional as it can possibly get. But didn't we think that about county and state government a few years ago?

I remember juvenile court being the easiest on offenders. The community doesn’t want laws-courts or jails. They want a million social workers and mental health facilities. There are no criminals here. We have poverty stricken people that are in need of social services and the mentally ill that need treatment. Laws and rules are just too tough.

What should be done to enhance criminal justice in Illinois is impeach and indict Pritzker for tax fraud and perjury regarding the illegal tax breaks he received in regards to that toilet debacle.

The Democratic pary of cook county have created this problem. Welfare for votes that is all they care about. Do you think they care about the kids f&%k no. Look at the NBA or NFL most of them not all, their IQ is no higher than their shoe size. They have 7-8 girlfriends and have children with them all.
Yes, this is stupid but the Department has to take some of the blame along with CPS. Things that were handled in house 25-30 years ago at CPS, like playground fights and food fights have suddenly become crimes like battery and reckless conduct. CPS blows these off on CPD and the school officers don't want to lose their spots and lock the kids up.
Also we have the numbers game where the district needs heads. So what does the tact team do? Lock up Juveniles for things kids do like walking on the railroad tracks, riding a bike on the sidewalk, sitting on a milk crate on the sidewalk and having a cigarette underage. Don't get me started on the obstruction of traffic or reckless conduct you started by chasing after them with no PC. Sometimes these charges are warranted but no nearly at the rate tact, gangs and units lock them up for. They can be great PC if used right for other things like Drugs, warrants, etc. You people are going to burn out these charges!
Laziness is another thing. You stop a Juvenile driving a stolen car but don't write the PC tickets. You don't establish PC in the arrest report and when called out on it by the Det or DSS all of a sudden they are the Jags. They are just juveniles you say, who cares? I have news for you, you are going to care 5 years down the road. The Juvenile criminal justice reform party is strong in this state and don't think for one minute arrests are not being looked at. Remember, we have body cams now. Make sure your arrest report lines up with your body cam.

They already stay in the foster system until 21 in Illinois. They can voluntarily leave but they don't age out of benefits until then.
